Chapter 66: Thirteen years later..

Olivia's Pov

I got up from my bed, stretching my arms and legs. “It was really a long day yesterday.” I muttered.

I was now living with the love of my life, Davis. I walked to the kitchen to make a cup of coffee to start up my day. I couldn't stop thinking how hard it was for me to Davis how much I loved him. Davis had always felt something for me but he wasn't sure about his feelings. Fifteen years was really a long time, but our love for each other grew stronger each day.

As I remembered the time Davis confessed his feelings for me I smiled. There's something about him that makes me want to stay around him. Still lost in thought, Davis tickled me on my waist and I jumped. “Hey, I told you to stop that.”

“Hey, common I enjoy doing that to you, see the way you jumped.” He said laughing.

I smiled. “Where were you? I didn't see you when I woke up.”

“Yeah, I was in the washroom. You look beautiful this morning.” He said, wrapping his arms on my waist.

We stood in the kitchen, we were enjoying the quiet moment that we were having. “So tell me how was your night?” Davis asked.

“It was fine.” I replied.

Davis started laughing and I was wondering why he was laughing. “What is it?”

“I just remembered something. Did you remember that guy, Edward? I just thought what if you had said yes to him the day he proposed to you.” Davis said, still laughing.

I joined in the laughter. Edward had publicly knelt before me, asking me to get married to him. “I was embarrassed.”

“But what if you had said yes, we wouldn't have been together now.” He said.

“Yeah, that's because we are meant to be together.” I said, touching his bear.

“It took so long for me to realize how much I love you, but I'm impressed how patiently you waited, I can't imagine life without you.” Davis said, as his lips met mine.

“I can't imagine life without you either.” I said, knowing exactly what he meant. “I love you so much.”

Davis smiled. “I love you too.” He said, his tone was filled with emotions. I could feel how sincere he was.

We were enjoying the quiet intimacy we were having that morning. “I was just standard in a corner that day when Edward proposed to you, I was so happy you said no to him. I almost rushed out to give you a thumbs up and a tight hug.”

We stood there enjoying each other's embrace when Emily walked In, clearing her throat. “Hope you've arranged all you will need for school?” I asked.

“Sure, I did all of that yesterday.” Emily said.

We were going to miss Emily, Emily was now grown up, she's now eighteen years old and she got all the curves and hips. She must have gotten all of that from Lucy. Emily now addresses me as mom, and I feel happy whenever she calls me that.

I felt a sense of pride looking at Emily. Time really flies. I was going to miss Emily, she was going to a higher institution and she was leaving home. She's now a beautiful young lady ready to live independently. “Alright, your dad and I will take you to school then. Call the bodyguards to take your things you'll take along with you.”

“I'm going to miss you Dad and Mom.” Emily said, a drop of tears falling from her eyes.

She called me mom again. It was a title I love only when Emily calls me that. I was glad she accepted me as a mother figure.

Maria had retired from working with us, we had no nanny in the house again apart from cleaners who come to clean the house and leave. So I do the dish myself while Davis assists sometimes.

“What would you like to eat this morning?” I asked.

“Nothing much mom, just a cup of coffee should be okay.” she said.

I handed Emily a cup of coffee. “I'm proud of the young lady you're becoming.” I said, smiling, so happy to be part of her life.

The bodyguard had put all she was going to need in the car, I was excited to see what the world held for her. The atmosphere in the car was bittersweet as we drove Emily to the airport. Davis was sad but happy that Emily was leaving the nest. “Dad, you don't need to be sad, I will call you often.” Emily said.

We got to the airport, Emily was crying profusely, she was going to miss us just the same way we are missing her already.

“Your mom and I will miss you, don't hesitate to call if you're in need of anything.” Davis said.

“I will.” she said, her eyes filled with tears. It was the first time she will be staying away from her Dad, I could tell how she felt.

She walked through the airport doors and we watched her. Davis held my hands tightly. We turned to leave but we saw a familiar figure coming towards us. “Isn't that Edward?”

“Yeah, why is he walking towards us?” Davis muttered.

“Hey, it's nice to meet you both.” Edward said, as he got closer to us.

“Yoo man, It's been long, I thought you were not around.” Davis said.

He ignored Davis. “Hey Olivia, you're looking more beautiful, are you both married now?”

Davis had engaged me but we were not married. “Not yet, but we will soon.”

“Soon? Why are you guys taking time to get married?” Edward asked.

“Yeah, you may think it that way but we are happy with how we are for now.” I was angry at Edwards' intrusive question.

“But you're not married to him, Davis you won't let her slip away right?” He said, raising his eyebrows.

Davis raised his hands to slap him but I held him. “Nah, you shouldn't do that, we are both happy the way things are going with us, that is all that matters, don't listen to this dude.”

“Olivia I don't think Davis is the best for you, you deserve better.” Edward added.

“How dare you, are you normal?” I asked Edward angrily.

“Just let me punch this guy so I can reset his brain.” Davis said.

“I don't know the reason why you are saying all of this but you should know that Davis has always been the love of my life and nothing is gonna change that, not even you.” I said, packing my hair with a band in my hand.

“Really? All I'm trying to do is to protect you from this loser.” Edward said.

“I think I've had enough, let's go babe.” Davis said.

Davis opened the car for me to get in but Edward hit my ass with his hands. “What was that?”

Davis wanted to hit him but I held his arms. “You don't need to do that, let's just leave.”

With that we got into the car and left. “That guy is just something else, how dare he say things about me like that, I don't know why you didn't let me hit him, you're too nice for my liking, there are some people one needs to show some lesson so they can respect our boundaries.” Davis said angrily.
