Chapter 63: Unexpected proposal

Olivia's Pov

I was still shocked by what Annie did. “Is this how you will hit him again ase gets married to him? Are you doing this because you know he can't hit you back? Of course my brother can not raise his hands to hit you because that was how he was brought up, Caleb is this the lady you want to get married to?”

Caleb was short of words, he was also shocked. “Annie you slapped me? Why?”

“Really? You're asking me why? I told you to come to my house, why did you refuse?” Annie said.

“Oh wait,let me get something straight. That's the reason you slapped him.” I said, hitting her back. Annie raised her hand to hit me back but Caleb held her back.

Caleb held her arms. “You want to hit her back? Are you okay Annie? Did anyone make you angry? This is not you, why act like this?”

“Just leave me alone, you will get married to your sister.” She said,

I couldn't hold the laugh anymore as it came out loud. “Oh my God, is she jealous, for crying out loud this my brother we're talking about, why this attitude.” .

But Annie eyed me. “Just shut up, I'm talking to him.”

Edward, who had been observing the scenario, finally spoke. “Young lady, you have no right to hit the young man.”

“And who is talking, who is this please? I hope you just keep shut, I'm not here for any of you.” Annie said, trying to apologize to Caleb.

She placed her hands on his cheeks but he pulled her away. “I'm still shocked at how you burst into my house to hit my brother. I don't joke with him,I guess you don't know me well so I'm going to pardon you this time.”

“Hey, Olivia or whatever you call yourself, he's your brother and so what? He's also my fianceé. You just put on a fake good attitude and innocent face. No wonder you're getting old without getting married.” Annie spat.

“How dare you Annie, Caleb take her out of my house now.” I commanded.

“You have to leave Annie.” Caleb said.

Annie laughed. “Leave where? I'm not leaving until you follow me, I can't just let you give her all the attention meant for me,she should get a man.”

Caleb sighed. “Annie, don't push me to do what I don’t want to do,don't talk to my sister that way.”

“I see that both of you are inseparable. Anyways, are you not coming with me?” She said to Caleb.

“Just leave, I want to be alone.” He said.

Annie's face was filled with anger as she made her way to the door. “You will come begging me.”

I was finally relieved as she shut the door behind her. “That was actually pleasant.”

Caleb walked towards me. “You don't have to feel bad about what she said.”

I raised my eyebrow. “You told her I've been single?”

“I didn't know she would talk about it this way.” Caleb said.

“Yeah, but she did now.” I said.

“She's like this sometimes, she's actually a nice person if you get to know her well.” Caleb said.

Edward laughed out loud. “This man is blindly in love.”

“She doesn't deserve you Caleb, she has no right to raise her hands to hit you, who does that.” I said, angrily.

“But I'm in love with her and I've already engaged her, if I call off the wedding her parents will definitely put me in jail.” Caleb said.

I raised my eyebrow. “Jail? What for? All because you don't want to get married to their daughter.”

“I can't say you should break up with her, but you need to talk to her, why will she be jealous of our closeness?” I said, shaking my head.

“I will make sure I talk to her.” Caleb said, nodding his head. He was looking concerned that I was hurt by her words even if I pretended not to.

“I still don't like her.” I said.

Caleb was looking torn. “I really feel like I'm stuck in our relationship already and I don't want to hurt her, but thinking of how she hit me breaks my heart.”

I signed. “My brother, anyone who can hit you once can hit you twice, thrice and more.”

“But what can I do, there's nothing I can do since I'm in love with her.” Caleb said, almost crying.

“Just think about what is best for you, don't get into something you will regret. I want the best for you.” I said, placing my hands on his shoulder.

Caleb placed his Headon my shoulder like a crying baby.

“Can you just be sincere to yourself, think of spending the rest of your life with her.” I said. He removed his head from my shoulder looking at me.

“Yes, Do you want to spend your life with someone like her.” I said.

Caleb was definitely struggling with his feelings for Annie. With the look on his face I know.

“You know I wish to spend my life with her but the way she behaves sometimes makes me scared, she yells at me often. But I don't want to hurt her, and I don't want her parents to react to my actions so I have no choice than to marry her.”

I hugged him tightly. “You don't have to go through a marriage with her, you have to talk to her, tell her things you dislike about her, you both should just be honest with each other, because you deserve someone better, not someone who hurt you. If she can't respect and love you now then how will she do that when you get married? Do you think she'd change?”

“You're right.” Caleb said, taking in a deep breath.

“I think I should be going now.” Edward said.

We both forgot Edward was in the house. “You don't have to, we can start work now.”

“If you don't mind, can I talk to you outside?” Edward said.

I didn't hesitate to follow Edward outside. When we got outside. He held my hands. “I don't know how to say this.”

“What?” I asked.

“I'm sorry about what that lady said earlier about you not getting married, as soon as I walked into this house, I fell in love with you, why don't we start a relationship, we can start from somewhere before getting married.” Edward said.

I had wanted to give him a slap but I wasn't that kind of person. “Why will I go into a relationship with you? And who asks a lady out on a date like this?” I pulled my hands away from his.

“What do you take me for? Oh, you think I'm that desperate and I will jump into a relationship with you just the very first day I met you. Why will Davis bring someone like you to work with me.” I said, angrily.

“I knew it was going to sound crazy that's why I wanted to keep it to myself but I couldn't anymore.” he said, looking a bit taken aback.

I raised my eyebrow. I turned to leave but he held my arms. “Can I at least ask for a proper date?”

I wasn't ready to go out with Edward, “we have work to do Edward, nothing more than that.”
