Chapter 75: Entangled Heart

Marcus pov

I jogged down the streets. I was running without stopping. When I got to a particular spot I stopped. That was the spot I met Olivia. That was exactly where I met her. We became friends and I offered her a job after she told me everything going on with her. “The very day I met her, I was in love with her.” I muttered.

I didn't know I was on the floor until a young lady stopped asking if I was okay.

“Yeah I'm fine.” I said.

“Are you sure?” She asked,

“I said I'm fine.” I shouted. I got up, dusting myself. I smiled, reassuring the young lady that I was fine. “Sorry for shouting at you, I'm not always like this, I was just lost in thought.” I said.

The lady nodded before she continued on her way. It has been years since I saw Olivia before I met her yesterday. I had always thought of her. The Memories of how we spent time together were still fresh. Sometimes I regret making her stay in Davis house to investigate him. I continued with my jogging trying to clear off that thought in my head but the thought was persistent. I got home after the jog tired and exhausted. I drank a lot of water. I took a warm shower. I decided to call Olivia, but she wasn't picking up.

Olivia's Pov

“Who's calling?” Davis asked.

“It's Marcus, I don't want to pick this.” I said.

“Just pick the call, let's hear what he has to say.” Davis said.

I didn't want ro pick at first but Davis encouraged me to do so. “Hey, how I'd things going?” I made sure I sounded casual.

“Fine, you didn't want to pick my call at first.” He said.

I put on the speaker so Davis could hear what he was saying.

“You know when I saw you yesterday, I was surprised you were happy even without me.” He said.

I signed. “What are you talking about?”

“Well you don't need to tell me anything, I was just dying to hear your voice.” He said,

Davis didn't say a word, he just listened to the conversation. “Can you meet at the beach today? We didn't talk much yesterday, I would love to spend more time with you.”

Davis stared at me waiting for my reply. “Okay fine, if that's what you want.” I said, before ending the call.

“Are you really going to see that girl, you just accepted to meet with him in my presence.” He said.

“Well, you're going with me, that was the only reason I agreed to meet him.” I said.

“So why do you want me to come with you?” he asked.

I smiled. “I don't want you to have the feeling that something more is going on between Marcus and I and moreover you will get jealous if I go alone.”

“Are you saying I don't trust you?” DAV s asked.

“That's not it, I just want you to come with me. I can't stay alone with Marcus, Rebbeca was with me when I met him yesterday.” I said,

“Fine, I will go with you.” Davis' expression softened.

I smiled, looking at Davis' face. ”It seems like someone is already jealous.”

“Jealous of what?” I asked. But Davis didn't say a word, he moved me closer into a gentle kiss, his kiss was possessive though it was gentle. As we went deeper in the kiss, Davis pulled back. I could see a hint of uncertainty in his eyes. “Why that look?”

“Well, I'm scared of losing you, so I came to the conclusion that we're getting married.” Davis said.

I couldn't believe Davis was saying all of that. I wrapped my hand around him. “Are you serious about this?”

“Yes, I don't want to lose you, not to him or anyone.” He said. I could see the sincerity in his eyes. My eyes skipped a bit when I saw that.

“There's nothing wrong with being scared of losing the love of someone, but you don't have to be worried, I love you and I will always be here for you and Emily.” I said, wrapping my arms around him.

Marcus was walking back and forth in the park while waiting for me. I know he wouldn't believe I agreed to meet him. If only he knows Davis was tagging along with me he will not be there waiting for me. He didn't want Davis to know I was meeting with me. So he thought he was very careful.

We stepped out of the car, Marcus was surprised as his eyes looked into ours. Now he was scared. He wanted to run but Davis held him back. “Where are you going? We are here for you.”

Marcus took a deep breath. “I didn't know you were coming with her.”

“Is anything wrong with that? I also planned on taking her to the park today before you said so to her. I thought it'd be a good idea if we were here together.” Davis said,

“Marcus, we talked about this yesterday and I told you I wasn't going anywhere alone with you, is anything wrong if my fianceé comes with me?” I asked.

Marcus looked at the way I wrapped my arms around Davis. His face fell. “Well, let's have fun.”

“What exactly do you want to talk about?” I asked.

He looked at me in shock, he might be thinking why I was asking him that in front of Davis.

He hesitated before saying a word. “Well it's been a long time since we hung out, you know the way we did while we were friends, I missed all of that.”

“I miss all that too.” I said, frowning my face. I felt a pang of guilt that I had abandoned Marcus all these years. I was carried away by a lot of things going on.
Looking at Davis reminded me that I belonged to him.

I smiled. “You know a lot has been going on, so that was why I didn't bother to check up on you.”

“I'm sure life gets busy and I understand.” He wanted to say something but he paused, looking at Davis whose gaze was fixed on him.

“You know I was hurt when you just left my life, we were each other confident.” He said, with emotion in his voice.

“You don't need to feel bad, you know I'm here now and I'm ready to reach out to you and check up on you.” I said.

Marcus' face brightened and I could see the hatred in Davis' eyes. “You will do that for me.” Marcus asked.

I smiled. “Sure.” Davis and I are planning on getting married within the week. I'm expecting to see you there.”

“Married?” He shouted.

“Yes. Is there anything wrong with that, why are you shouting?” Davis asked.

Marcus rolled his eyes. “Did I shout? Nah I was just happy. That's good news.”

Davis laughed out loud. “Are you sure that is good news? It doesn't look like good news to you. Look at your face, you are crying.”

Marcus nodded. “I know right, I'm so happy, this is what I've always wanted for her.” He tried to convince us that he was happy.
