Chapter 58: Emily's Sake
Olivia's Pov
I couldn't believe what had happened between Alex and I. And now Caleb didn't believe it when I told him I feel nothing for him. “That's just a one night stand.” I said.
“You know I will be happy for you if you get into a relationship with him.” He said.
I raised my eyebrow. “Come close Caleb, did you plan all of this?”
He smiled. “Why will I do that?”
I felt a sense of desperation washing over me. “Caleb, this looks like a setup and I know you have something to do with it.”
“My bad, I'm hurt that you think I'm manipulating you, but Alex is a nice guy for you.” He said.
I hit him on his back. “Just shut up. I know you too well and I know what you're capable of doing.”
“Alex is interested in you and you should give him a try.” Caleb said.
“You know I should be angry with you now right? Firstly you didn't tell me you have a fianceé and you deceived me we were going out maybe to the club. And now I know you gave Alex the opportunity to do what he did.” I said.
“Hey sis, you also wanted him badly, that's not my fault.” Caleb said.
My eyes blazed with anger as I looked at Caleb, “You enjoy doing this, I'm just a pawn in your game.”
“I'm doing nothing much than helping you, I just think he's a perfect guy for you, you've just being single for ages.” She said.
“That guy is not perfect for me, you have no idea what I really want and why were you hiding the fact that you have a fianceé, do you think I will feel bad because my younger brother is getting married before me?” I asked.
“I planned on telling you today, that was why I made sure you follow me to the house.” He said.
“So are you saying if I had refused to follow you I wouldn't have known anything about this?” I asked.
“Don't see it that way sis, you've been so focused with a lot of things, I didn't want to bother you with it.” He said.
“You don't tell me things anymore, you're just so unbelievable.” I said.
Caleb sighed. “Okay fine, I'm sorry, I was only trying to help, don't be like that, but I won't lie to you Alex likes you, Annie told me how he's been talking about you nonstop.”
All I could think of was a one night stand, nothing more than that. “I don't know what you want Caleb but I'm still in love with Davis.”
“Now i know you're not on your right senses, how will you say that.” Caleb said.
“You're my brother I know but you have no right to tell me whom to love okay?” I warned. “Just leave my presence now, leave me alone.”
His face fell but I didn't look at that, I watched him leave.
The only people I could think of was Davis, I thought of how I'd spend the rest of my life with him. My mind was always drifting back to him.
I knew life had other plans, I wanted Davis to know how much I love him. “But how could Caleb be so insensitive to set me up with Alex.” But when I thought about that I knew I would have stopped if I didn't want that, Caleb shouldn't be blamed for my actions.
I got a call from Rebbeca to meet her at the place we agreed on. “Oh my God, do you know I forgot about that?”
“Well I will be waiting.” She said.
I arrived at the new coffee shop downtown, my heart raced with anticipation, I was led to the counter where she was sitting, waiting for me.
She stood up as soon as sh saw me, giving me a warm hug, she smiled. “You're looking good Olivia, I'm so glad you made it here.”
I smiled. “Sit down please.” She said.
As sat on the chair and Rebbeca began to speak, telling me how much she miss me. We were offered some pizza. “Hope you're okay with it?” She asked.
“Sure.” I replied.
After a while she asked if I was enjoying the Pizza, I nodded, taking a bite. “I love their Pizza here, seems I got a new spot to get Pizza.”
She smiled, then her expression turned serious. “You know, I want to talk to you about something.”
“What's that?” I asked.
“It's about Davis.” She said.
I sighed. “What about him.” I could feel my heart skip for a moment.
“Do you still love him?” She asked.
I didn't give a reply to that. “Why are you asking all of this? Is this why you asked to see me?”
After a while I saw Davis. I looked at Rebbeca before looking at him again. “Hey what is he doing here? Was this your plan?” He asked.
I stood up to leave but Davis was standing in front of me. “Can you move?” I said.
“Olivia please just sit and listen to me, I can only trust you with this, even if you're not doing this for me, do it for Emily's sake.” He said.
My mind kept racing with questions as I thought about what Davis possibly have to tell me. I sat back on the chair. “You should make it quick.”
“I saw something in the garden, something that looks like a murder scene.” He said.
“A murder scene?” He asked.
“Yes and I want you to see all this yourself, this is a case I want you to handle.” He said.
“But I'm not a procecutor.” I said.
“Well, you can work with a procecutor, I'm sure you should have some out there.” He said.
I could see his eyes pleading with me to take the case, what made me want to take it was Emily, the mention of Emily made me cahnge my mind.
“I will take it,” I said. I thought that was the way I could repay him back for lying to him all the time I stayed with them in the mansion. I was just a spy.
“It's fine, I forgive you for that, thanks for doing this for me, I knew i could count on you.” he said, a look of relish washing over him.
“So I'm I going to see the murder case now? or some other time.” I said, as I stood up.
“Now should be better.” He Said.
We got to the mansion, walked through the garden, I was led to the scene where the murder had taken place. “Oh my God.” I said, my hand flying to my mouth. “Someone was killed here?”
“Yes.” Davis nodded. “This is something big that we need to dig into, and when I discovered this there was a figure here watching me but when my eyes met hers she ran, jumping from the fence.” Davis said, pointing at the direction where the figure was standing.
“This is serious.” I said, gazing at the murder scene, “How did you find out about this?”
“Cooper our lost dog came back and he dug this out, it was burried on the ground.” Davis said, showing me the knife filled with blood stain.
