Chapter 54: Unraveling Past

Davis Pov

“I'm not sure if she will come back and none of us know her address. I think I will have to find that myself.” I muttered.

My mind was filled with thoughts of Olivia, she left without a word. The memories of how we spent time together filled my mind. “Nah, I have to find her.” I said to myself. But I don't know where to start.

A glimmer of determination in me, I'm sure I will find her. I will have to find her and bring her back. “Emily has refused to talk to anyone, she's feeling bad.”

I tried calling her but she had switched her phone off.

I remembered Lisa and her parents were still in the empty room. Two of my bodyguards were standing at the entrance of the door. “Open the door.” I said.

They opened the door and I walked in immediately. Lisa stood up immediately I walked in. Their phones were all with me. “Can you give me my phone, I can't just stay here doing nothing.” She said,

“Is that the best you can say?” Lisa's mother asked.

“Mom just let me be, I won't beg him to release me, moreover he has no right to keep us here, he's not a prosecutor or police.” Lisa said.

I thought this was when I really needed Olivia. “They are coming to take you soon.” I said, but Lisa spat on me.

Lisa's mother apologized on her behalf. “I will let your parents go, they have nothing to do with your actions.”

“Who cares, if you like you can keep them in jail as me.” Lisa said.

“I can't believe this is my child, when did you change to this.” Lisa's mother said, crying.

Lisa's spit was still on my face, and one of the bodyguards had come to clean it off. “You have the audacity to do all of this Lisa.” I spat. But Lisa's mom pleaded with me. “She doesn't know what I'm capable of doing, I will deal with you Lisa, all you lies and all you've done you won't be spared for it.”

“Take her parents out.” I said to the bodyguards. They grabbed Lisa's parents out of the room, despite all the pleas from Lisa's mom to release her daughter I was unmoved by that.

Before I left the room I told Lisa she was going to regret ever crossing me but she hissed. “And you think I'm afraid of you huh?” She stood tall, not feeling remorseful for all she had done.

“I now see why Emily hates you.” I spat.

“And who cares, I hate her more.” She said,

I can see how determined she was but she doesn't know what I can do. I left her to her defiance, “She will know the true meaning of isolation soon.” I muttered.

I turned to the bodyguard, “Make sure she doesn't leave here,” I said, then turned to her. “Enjoy your stay, if you need something to eat don't hesitate to tell the bodyguards.”

I was about to leave but I caught a glimpse of her face. She was standing tall with a small smile playing on her lips.

I told Maria to take care of Emily for now. “She doesn't want to see my face sir, we should just let her be for now.” She said,

I nodded, I understand why she feels that way.

I entered my study room, jamming the door behind me, trying to forget about the things that crept in my mind.

“Someone is here to see you sir.” My secretary, Rebbeca said.

“Who is it?” I asked. “I'm not expecting anyone.”

“It's a young man, he said it's urgent.” She said,

“Who is this young man and what does he want? Tell him to deliver the message to you.” I said.

“But sir….” She said, but I cut her shut.

After a while she came back. “He has refused to say a word to me.” She said,

“Let him in.” I said, trying not to act harsh, despite the turmoil brewing inside me.

Rebbeca brought the young man in. His eyes were flashing with curiosity. I raised my eyebrow waiting for him to say whatever it was he had to say.

“I'm Caleb, I guess you're Davis.” He said.

“Yeah, what do I owe your visit, I've never seen this face before.” I said.

“I'm Olivia's brother…” I didn't wait for him to finish. “Where is she, is she fine.” I asked.

“She's fine and she's not willing to see you ever again.” Caleb said. “She didn't know I was coming here, this should be between us.” He said.

I nodded.

“She told me about your late wife being our sister, I still don't believe her, can I see the image she saw myself?” He asked.

“Give me some seconds.” I said. I led him to a room which was filled with my past. Everyone in the house knows about that room but none of them have entered.

I opened the door, the image of me and my late wife displayed on the wall, I could see Caleb gaze fixed on the image. This time he was no longer curious but shocked.

“She was right.” Caleb said, his voice filled with disbelief.

“So Elizabeth, my wife, was really your sister?” I said.

“I can't believe she has been dead all these years.” Caleb said.

“Why did she change her name?” I asked.

“I have no idea, Olivia can answer that. Why will she do this to us, why did she leave.” Caleb said, with a hind of anger and sadness.

I could see the zeal for revenge on Caleb's eyes, I now see why he doesn't want Olivia to know he came here. “Was she running from anything? Why would she keep her real identity hidden from me.” I muttered.

“I'm not the right person to answer that question.” Caleb sighed. “I will be going now.”

“Wait.” I said. “Can I at least know where Olivia is staying?”

Caleb raised his eyebrows. “Nah, I can't tell you that. She wants to be alone for now, I hope you respect her decision.”

I understand what Caleb was trying to say. “I respect her decision but please tell her we need to talk, it's better we clear things now.” I said.

“I'm not sure I will tell her that, she doesn't want to hear any of that now.” I respect her decision also.

He turned to leave the room, he left me with lots of unanswered questions.
It was as if Olivia was the one with the key to unlock the past.

I stared at the image of Elizabeth and me, could it be that everything about her was a lie? But why? What is her reasons? I tried to calm myself down. I was now on the floor, breathing high. “Are you okay sir.” Rebbeca said, walking into the room but I sent her out.

She was standing outside the door. “Is there no way I can meet with Olivia? you can just try anyway you can.” I asked.

“I will see what I can do sir.” She said, “But sir you need to get up from the floor,”

I sat there, wondering what I had to unfold.
