Chapter 97: Wedding Night
Olivia's Pov
I was still trying to hide the worry in my face. Davis, who knew what was going on, sensed the turmoil. He squeezed my hands reassuring me to calm down. But my thought was about Sophia's condition. It weighs heavily in my heart and I wonder how we were going to cope with adopting her.
Davis, noticing my distraction, pulled me closer to him. “Don't stress yourself about this, we are a team now, we will go through this together.”
I felt a lump form in my throat. He was right but it was daunting. It was hard to believe things will be okay but I have to believe it will.
We sat down to eat because we had a long day and I didn't really eat anything.
My appetite was nonexistent as I ate. But I had no choice than to eat. What Davis said to me echoed in my mind. We are now a team and we will have whatever it was together. We were both together on the journey ahead.
I looked at my plate on the table. My mind still wandered back to the tiny body of Sophia on the hospital bed. Our future with her was overwhelming.
Davis noticed a teardrop down my cheeks, he quickly whipped it away making sure nobody noticed that. “Don't do this in front of everyone.” He whispered
I tried to compose myself. I knew I had to be strong for Sophia. Looking at Davis' eyes I knew he was also scared but we were determined to do whatever it was together.
I forcefully took another bite of the food, Dave held my hand under the table with a gentle touch. He was trying to hold me together, scared that I might fall apart.
I looked around trying to make sure I noticed my momentary breakdown. While the turmoil was brewing inside me our families were laughing and chatting.
As Dave's eyes met mine he smiled, the smile was reassuring, all he was trying to do was to be strong for us. I knew I didn't really like Lisa when she was alive but I can't hate the innocent child.
Taking a deep breath, I tried all I could to focus, as Davis touched me I could feel the warmth of his hand.
“I know we will get through all of this.” Davis said, it was just as if he read my thoughts. “We will do that together.”
I tried to believe him, nodding my head. But there was this fear in me that it can't be extinguished. Davis held me tightly, not letting go of my hands. It was just as if he was talking to me indirectly that he was here for me no matter what it is.
I smiled while I took another bite of the food. I did all I can to get myself distracted from the brewing inside me.
While we were done eating, Davis held my hand. “Let's go inside.” He said with a low and soothing voice. He was so romantic.
We walked to our room and I felt a glimmer of hope. I still couldn't believe the fact that I'm married.
Davis closed the door behind him as we got to the room. He pulled me into a gentle embrace. “I love you.” He whispered. I held him tightly, wrapping my arms around him as I could feel his breath warm against my ear.
We stood there for a moment as Davis tried all he could to convince me that everything was going to be fine. His voice was full with conviction.
While still trying to believe all he has said, I fixed my gaze on him and I could see a glimmer of hope.
“Let's sit and relax or do you want to sleep a little?” Davis asked, leading me to the couch.
“I can't sleep for now.” I said.
“Why? What are you thinking about? I told you to get your mind off that for now.” Davis said,
I knew he was right, I shouldn't ruin our wedding night. I smiled broadly. Placing my hands on his cheeks as I kiss him slowly. That was unexpected for him.
He moved backward, smiling at me. “I didn't expect that.”
“I know right.” I said while pulling off my dress which was so tight. I could hardly breathe when I wore it. Davis helped me to pull the zip down
Davis' eyes sparkled with delight and surprise as the dress fell to the floor. “Wow, you're looking so sexy, you're full of surprises today.” he said in a husky and low voice.
“I'm always pretty.” I smiled, my voice was barely above a whisper.
“I'm serious, you're looking beautiful.” He said, appreciating my beauty. He was taking in every curve and contour.
I blushed but didn't make him notice that. He used his finger to touch me tracing the lines of my body which sent shivers down my spine.
We forgot about Sophia in the hospital for a moment but she was watched by the bodyguard. What matters at that point was the both of us in our little world.
Davis' lips brushed on mine as he drew me closer to him. “I love you so much.” He whispered again.
I didn't reply to that. But it seems he was really expecting me to say something.
I felt a sense of peace over me. He looked at me waiting for a response instead I just smiled. He leaned closer to me. He deepened the kiss and I was already lost in the moment.
While we kissed a sense of calm wash k dr me with Davis arms still wrapped around.r, he was holding me close. I felt protected and safe.
After a while he pulled back looking at me with a questioning expression. “Why didn't you say it back?”
I didn't know what exactly he was talking about. “What's that?” my voice was barely above a whisper.
“Just then I understood what he was talking about. “You know I love you too right, I don't have to say that often.” I said, in a shy way.
He drew me closer into his arms, he hugged me tightly, refusing to let go. “I just love hearing it, you have to say it often from now on.”
“Alright. I love you.” I said in a whisper feeling content and happy. “I hope you're happy now?”
“Come on, you should say that often to me so I will be sure you love me.” He grinned. His voice was full of emotion.
“You're so funny.” I smiled. “Okay then, I will tell you that every hour and every day since that's what you want.”
“Are you going to do that because that's what I want but what you want?” He asked.
I sighed.
Davis pulled me closer to him. “Well you should do that often, I want to hear it. When you say you love me I feel everything is gonna be okay.”
This time Davis pulled back, staring at me for a long time. “You know what will make me feel happy now?” he said in a low and husky voice.
“What's that?” I asked, raising my eyebrow.
“Tell me you love me over and over again, don't stop.” Be leaned close, his lips brushed against my ear.
