Chapter 32: Davis fear

Davis Pov

“What? How did he manage to escape? I don't want that guy out, my family life will be at risk.”

“We'll see what we can do. We're searching everywhere for him.” Marcus said.

“Please do.” I said, before hanging off the phone.

“Who was that? And why the change of mood?” Lisa asked.

“Vincent, he escaped and now if that guy is out, we're all in danger.” I said.

“You shouldn't bother yourself about that for now, we were having a good time before that call came in. We'll see to that later.” Lisa said.

“Really? You don't know anything so just shut up.” I said, angrily.

There was a knock on my door. “Who is that?” Lisa shouted.

I stopped her. “Come on, learn to bring your voice down, we don't behave like this in this house to our workers.”

“Come in.” I said. Olivia walked in, it was evident that she was worried.

“What's wrong?” I asked.

“Vincent.” She paused. “He has escaped.”

“Yeah, Marcus just told me about that now.”

“Alright, I thought you didn't know about that, so what are we going to do now?” She asked.

“Who is this brat, can't you see me here? When you walked you pretended I was invisible and now you want to get the attention of Davis.” Lisa spat.

“Olivia, don't say anything to her, just leave, I'll be with you shortly.”

“Oh wow, so this is what you do, You're now leaving me for that thing.” Lisa said, angrily.

I smiled. “Don't call her a thing Lisa, I understand you're jealous but don't worry it's nothing.”

“And who told you I'm jealous, because of her? Come on Davis, you know me better than that.”

“Then you shouldn't be worried if I'm going to have a conversation with her, since you don't want to see her face. This is something serious.” I said.

“Nah, there's no way I'm letting you go out that door to talk to that girl. Why will you choose her over me?”

“You have nothing to worry about Lisa, Vincent's escape is a serious matter and I need to talk to Olivia right now.”

Lisa laughed, a bitter sweet. “What does it have to do with her then?”

I sighed. “I can't start explaining, but she understands better than you. Don't worry I'll be back soon.”

“You're always too quick to leave me and defend her.” Lisa said, refusing to back down.

I called out for Olivia to come in, let's talk since Lisa refused to back down.

As soon as she got in, Lisa hissed.

“Let me just go.” Olivia said, turning to leave.

“No, you can't just go, we need to talk.” I said, with a firm voice.

Lisa hissed. “You can talk to your precious Olivia but this should be the last time because I don't like being pushed aside.”

I smiled. “Come on Lisa, you're not being pushed aside, I think you're just jealous.”

“How dare you say I'm jealous in front of this thi..” she paused. “I can't be jealous of her.”

“I can't stay here, looking at this face.” She said, storming out of the room.

Olivia bent her head, her eyes fixed on the ground. “We can talk about this later Davis, it's obvious she hates my presence and I don't want to cause any problem between you two.”

I told her to come into the room so we can talk since Lisa was not in support of me leaving. “This is a matter of life and death, we need to find a way now.”

“She is angry because I'm in this house, she doesn't like me.” Olivia said.

“Don't worry about that, I employed you here and you should do as I say, don't worry about you causing any harm. She'll be fine. This is not just about you and I, it's about the family, we’re in danger.” I said.

We walked down the stairs as we discussed the matter at hand. “Vincent can't just escape from that cell without a helping hand, this is a sign of something bigger, someone must be with him In this.”

“Do you mean someone helped him out of the cell?” Olivia asked, her eyes widening.

“That's it, and we need to find out who exactly the person is.” I said.

Just then, Lisa walked to the living room, holding a glass of juice in her hand. “Oh he's still talking to the precious Olivia.”

“Can you just go upstairs if you don't have anything important to say? This is not about me or Olivia, it's about this family. We're in danger.” I shouted.

“Well, I've heard enough, just continue with your discussion and meet me in the room when you're done.” Olivia said, walking out angrily.

“Don't let that bother you, so now we need to find out who the person who rescued him is” I said,

“But how, this is really serious, what is Marcus saying now?” she asked.

I sighed heavily. “I haven't heard anything from him again.”

Just then his call came in. “We haven't gotten any trace of his whereabouts, we searched the building which he uses as his hideout. He's no longer there.”

I hung off the phone. “Where is Emily?”

“She's with Maria in the kitchen, I don't think it's a good idea that she knows about what is going on.” Olivia said.

I nodded. “Sure, she shouldn't, she won't be going to school for now, Vincent can show up at any time.”

Things were becoming more complicated for me. I thought about sending Emily to my parents place. The thought of who helped Vincent escape filled my mind.

“We really can't sit and wait for him to make his next move, he'd be coming with force this time.” I said.

Olivia nodded. “That's right but what can we do, even the the cops are yet to find him,”

I paced back and forth in the living room. “We need to find out the last person who had come to see Vincent before his escape.”

Just then Rebecca walked in. “We have a problem.”
