Chapter 69: Roommates

Olivia's Pov

“I can't believe that's the reason Edward was here.” I said.

“What other reason do you think he has?” Davis asked.

“I have no idea, I was just curious.” I said.

Davis smiled. “Curious?”

I nodded. “Yeah, I don't just trust him.”

“Same here, I don't trust him either.” Davis said.

“Alright, enough of Edward, let's go have dinner.” I said.

We put the drama about Edward aside and enjoyed our dinner, the house was looking empty, it was just Edward and I and the bodyguards, the other workers didn't sleep over, we enjoyed our dinner quietly, just the two of us.

Davis held my hands as we were done with the dinner, his eyes locked on mine. I knew with all that was going on, Davis was one person I know I can count on.

Our hands entwined together and the only sound I could hear was the clock in the table ticking and the voice of the bodyguards outside the house.

“Let's take a walk to the garden, I'm really tired of staying indoors.” I said to Davis.

“We can just do something fun inside instead.” Davis said.

“What fun things do you want us to do?” I asked.

“We should just watch a movie, I think it's been too long since we did something like that together.” Davis said.

“I think that is perfect.” I could feel a warmth in my chest. “It will be nice to watch a movie.”

Davis held my hands, we held each other hand in hand as we sat on the couch. “So what exactly are we going to watch tonight? I think romance will be better.”

“Nah, I prefer horror.” I said.

“There's no way I can watch a horror movie tonight.” Davis said.

“Why not?” I asked.

Emily's Pov

“Hey, why do you prefer to be on your own?” Vivian my roommate asked.

“That's because I love my privacy.” I replied.

“Did you say privacy? Like you hate being around people or better still you hate staying around me.” Vivian said.

I sighed. “Yeah, I just love my alone time, it's draining to be around people sometimes.”

I knew Vivian wanted to get along with me. “Alright, it's fine, I get it, I am the complete opposite of you, there's no way we can get along.”

I smiled.

“To be an introvert might be cool for you.” She said, thoughtfully.

“I don’t enjoy staying indoors, it's just that it's hard for me to understand while I'm being taught so I have to read ahead or else I fail.” I said.

“That's not bad. What about you going out with me today for a concert? The cutest guy in the school is having a performance, you'll enjoy it.” Vivian said.

I was thinking if I should go to the concert with Vivian or not. “Fine, when it's time let me know.”

Vivian was so happy. Not long after we were fine talking Vivians gang of friends came in. “Vivian, who is this girl?” They asked, pointing at me with irritation, as if I was trash.

“Hey, stop it, she's my roommate.” Vivian said.

“So you prefer staying with this thing than us huh?” One of the ladies said.

“You guys should stop this, she's new here, she needs to be welcomed properly.” Vivian said.

“Are you telling me to welcome this person properly?” The lady said.

“Well the reason I refused to stay with you guys Is to avoid all of this, moreover we've always stayed together, I need a break from people like you guys. I need to find new people.” Vivian said.

Vivian's friends stared at her in shock. It seems the person talking amongst them was their leader. I didn't plan to exchange words with them. They were little problems for me to handle.

“So are you saying we are toxic? Are we really the reason you needed a break or you're saying all of this to please this brat here.” One of the girls, tall and skinny, spoke.

“I'm saying the truth to you guys l, I'm not saying this because she's here, I've been waiting patiently for the day you guys will cross me and you guys didn't fail to do today as expected.” Vivian said,

“Are you happy to be staying with this introvert here?” One of the girls snorted.

“You shouldn't talk about people like that, especially in front of them, you just follow them to say trash Doris.” Vivian said. “Emily here is nice to stay around with when you get to know her and I enjoy her company in this room.”

I watched Vivian's friends gang up on her as the room erupted in a serious argument. I didn't know what I was supposed to do to stop them. I felt it was better for me to let them be.

Vivian stood up from the chair she was sitting on, “I think I've had enough, you guys should leave.” She said, as she opened the door for them to leave.

I was as the drama unfolds. I was relieved as her friends left the room, I could still hear them arguing outside the door. I didn't know how to thank Vivian, she stood for me when they insulted me and said cruel words about me.

“Sorry about this, I had no idea they would behave like this.” Vivian said, turning to face me from the door. I felt a sense of gratitude towards Olivia. I stood up from my study desk and hugged her tightly.

“Oh well, now I'm shocked.” Vivian said, smiling.

“You don't have to be, they are just some set of toxic people, they can't handle the fact that you're willing to move on without them.” I said.

Vivian smiled. “I know right, I'm happy I have someone like you as a roommate, they are just a set of toxic circles.”

I laughed. “But I'm sure you were part of that toxic circle.”

“She got me here.” Vivian said.

“Well, you don't need to apologize because of them.” I smiled. I could feel the sense of friendship building up between us. I went back to my study desk while Vivian laid on her bed reading a novel.

Sitting back on my study desk, I glanced at Olivia who was engrossed in the novel she was reading, she smiled looking at me. I knew how she always wanted us to be close since the very day I stepped my feet into the room. I knew I had to tell my parents about this, I don't keep any detailed gist like this from them. Remembering them, I smiled.

I could hear the sound of Vivians laughing. She must have read something funny in the novel. “It seems you love reading novels.” I said.

“Yeah, I enjoy reading novels, it's my favorite way to unwind, I love getting lost in novels like this, the twist in the novel is making me engage in it more.” Vivian said.

“That's nice. I'm not a fan of novels.” I said, smiling.

“Obviously, I see you enjoy studying.” Vivian said.

We both laughed even if we knew we didn't have any common interests. It was evening, I had studied enough for the day, I arranged my books on the desk as I jumped on my bed.
