Chapter 45: Shield

Olivia's Pov

My brother had said he wanted to see me, it's been a long time since I saw my brother and I really missed him. “Why don't we make it this evening?” I said.

“Not a bad idea, I will be expecting you then.” Caleb said.

I was excited that I was going to see my brother again. I hung up the phone. I wondered what he'd look like now.

As evening approached, I couldn't wait to see my Kid brother after all these years.
As soon as I arrived at his place, he was living well, his apartment was nice. I knocked on the door slowly, patiently waiting for him to open the door. After a while the door swung open and there was my Kid brother, he's all grown now, he still had the same sparkling eyes and bright smile as always.

“Is this really you?” I said, wrapping my arms around him.

“How have you been?” He asked.

“You’re all grown, it's been far too long since I saw you, see those bears.” I said, laughing.

“Come on, do you expect me to be that little boy you've always known.” Caleb said.

“That's not what I meant, at least you can defend me outside now, here is the time for you to pay for how I've always cared for you.” I said, laughing out loud. “It's nice to finally see you again.”

We got into the house, catching fun like we've always done. “So who is this guy you are working for?” He asked.

“He's a nice guy and he has this beautiful kid I'm taking care of.” I said.

“You're just like a Nanny in his house, but does he know that you're a spy?” Caleb asked.

“Nah, I don't think he does. I work for the FBI and all they want to know is if his wealth was gotten from a good source.” I said.

“The way you talk about this guy, wait, why is that look on your face? Do you like him?” Caleb asked.

“I do, but you know what I'm there for? I have to do my Job.” I said.

“What if he finds out about your motive?” Caleb asked.

I smiled. “He won't for now, that's why I've been careful.”

“You know I really miss Lucy.” Caleb said.

Lucy was our Elder sister, we didn't hear anything about her after the death of our parents, it was as if she went missing.

“I know right, I do miss her too, I hope we find her one day.” I said, holding his hands.

“If anyone messes with you don't hesitate to call me, okay?” Caleb said.

I smiled, my kid brother is all grown now. “I'll do that.”

Just then we heard sounds of footsteps, Caleb stood up quietly, “Are you expecting anyone?” I asked.

“No, I'm not.” He said.

“Or do you have a girlfriend that comes to visit?” I asked, smiling.

“Keep your voice down Olivia, I think this is more to that.” He said.

“What do you mean by that?” I asked. But got no reply from him.

That was when my mind raced back to when Rebbeca told me about Lisa's plot. “Oh my God.” I think I know who it is.”

I told my brother everything. “She dares to mess with my Sister?”

“You have to be careful, they are dangerous people, let's just find a place to hide, u wouldn't have come here, I don't want you to get hurt.” I said.

“Neither do I want you to come here, you know, but it's good you came here?” Caleb said.

“Not until I kill one of them. He found a place for me to hide, my heart raced with fear as I heard the footsteps coming closer. “Just stay behind the couch.” Caleb said, in a low tone.

“Does it mean they have been following me?” I muttered to myself.

I squeezed myself behind the old sofa as my heart continued to race so fast.

Caleb hid behind the door, the door creaked open, I couldn't see who the person was. I had no idea if it was Lisa herself. All I needed to do was just ro stay there quietly and see what my brother wanted to do. He had told me he wasn't the little Cake I had always known.

Caleb was still in his hideout, “who's there?” He said.

I pipped from my hideout, the figure was dressed in black with a mask on. The figure scanned the room. “I know you're here Olivia.” The person said it was obviously Lisa.

“She really wants to take my life.” I muttered.

“Come out Olivia, I know you're here.” She said,

I almost screamed when someone touched me in the darkness but he held my mouth. It was Caleb. “Let's just leave here through the back door quietly.” I said, In a low tone.

Just then Lisa heard us talking, she directed a torch light to our direction. “I knew you were here, I got you.” She said,

“You can't escape me this time Olivia.” She said, her voice filled with malice.

She threw a bullet in my direction but Caleb got me out of there. “How dare you try to hurt my sister, it seems you don't know who I am.” He said.

“And who do you think you are?” Lisa said.

Caleb managed to get the gun from her but she held it tight.

The both of them engaged in a fierce struggle. “I'll deal with you and that your sister, you're no match to me.” Lisa said.

Caleb tried all he could to get the gun from her hand, but she was reluctant. She held it tightly, throwing a bullet in my direction.

After a while there was a loud crash in the room. I didn't know who was shot with the gun, but when I looked closer, Lisa was on the floor, Caleb had shot her on her hand, she screamed. The gun was now in Caleb's possession.

“I got you now, you should not try to hurt my sister because you will regret it.” He said, with a firm voice.

She ran out of the door saying she would come back, that it wasn't the end.

Caleb dragged me from the door. “Are you alright?” He asked.

I tried to process what had happened. “Yeah I'm fine.”

“Will you stay over today? You can just sleep here for this night, then you can go back tomorrow morning.” Caleb said.

I thought that would be a good idea, since we don't know what was awaiting us outside the house. “You shouldn't have shot her.” I said.

“That's one thing about you, you're too good to people, she was trying to kill you yet you're asking why I shot her, sometimes I wonder how you manage to work as a FBI.” Caleb said,

“I know you think I'm being weak, but I'm not.” I said, trying to sound defensive.

“So I should have let her shoot you?” He asked.

I smiled. “Come on, I wanted to see your reaction, you did well.”

Caleb sighed. “That's what I'm going to do to anyone who dares to hurt you.”

We sat there, unsure of what would happen next.
