Chapter 27: Shattered Emotion

Davis Pov

I knocked slowly at Olivia's door, she opened the door shortly. “Hope I'm not disturbing you?” I asked.

She looked lost in thought. “How are you feeling now?” I asked.

“Much better.” She said,

“What happened between you and Rebecca while I was away?”


Olivia's Pov

I was confused on how he found out about it. “How?” I asked.

“Yeah, Emily told me everything, what is it you guys are arguing about?” He asked.

I only hoped Emily didn't tell him it was because of him. “Just a little misunderstanding, nothing much.”

“Do you call that little misunderstanding, look at your face, I'm sure she hit you.” Davis said.

I don't want this to escalate any further. “No it's nothing.” I said.

But he angrily left the room, Jamming the door behind him. Sometimes I don't understand why he acts like he cares. He had gone to meet his girlfriend and when he came back home he pretended he cared about me.

I knew I had not heard from Marcus for days, he'd be damn worried. I brought out my phone dialing his number, “Hey, how have you been?” He asked.

“I've been good,” I said, I and Marcus have been friends for years. He noticed I wasn't really fine.

“What's going on Olivia, you sound a little off, Are you okay?” He asked, his tone was perceptive.

I wasn't sure if I should tell him about my feelings for Devis. I was there to find out about how he got his wealth and now I'm already in love with him. Marcus will be disappointed.

One minute he acts like he cares about me the next minute he has gone to meet his girlfriend whom nobody knows about.

“It's about Davis.” I said.

“What about him?” Marcus asked, laughing.

“This is funny, he had gone out so his secretary and I had an argument, I had no idea Emily was eavesdropping, Emily told him about the fight and now he's pretending he cares. He's been seeing someone secretly, I think he has a girlfriend.” I said.

“So why are you worried about that? I know you like that guy, but you should know what you're there for, you deserve someone better, you know I've always got you back.” Marcus said, his tune turned serious.

“Talking to you makes me feel better, Thanks.” I said, feeling grateful for having him by my side.

We chatted deeper but I paused for a while after hearing Davis shout. “What is happening?” I said, hanging off the phone call.



Davis Pov

I decided to confront Rebecca for her attitude. “I don't know what had resulted in the argument and fight. But you don't have the right to hit her, Are you the one who employed her? You don't act that way.”


Her denial of the situation only fueled my anger. “Your behavior is unacceptable, you shouldn't do that.”

I walked away from Rebecca's room, I stormed into my room, jamming the door behind me. I wondered why Olivia was trying to cover up for Rebecca. She deserves better than to be treated that way.


Olivia's Pov

I walked back into my room, I still don't get it. “Why is he angry?” I muttered.

I walked out of the house, I sat on the pool, swinging my legs back and front. I just needed time to think. After my Ex boyfriend broke up with me, I had told myself m, I wasn't going to fall for any guy again and now I found myself falling for Davis.

As I sat there the water was rippling beneath my feet. I was confused and I needed an explanation.

I told myself I was done with guys, that I was done with the heartache but now here is Davis in the picture. No matter how hard I try to resist, I feel drawn to him.

It seems he had been protecting me and that thought made my heart skip a bit. I feel there is more Devis was hiding from me.

Sitting there, lost in thought, I heard a footstep behind me, I turned as I watched Davis walking towards me.

“It looks like you love this pool, I warned you about not coming here last time.” He said

I stood up quickly, adjusting my bra. But the more I tried adjusting it, he kept staring at it.

He lowered his eyebrows. “I saw you from my room up, I thought I should ask why you are out.” but his gaze lingering in my chest made me feel uncomfortable, so I crossed my arms. But he smiled.

“What are you doing here?” He asked again. I had told him I just wanted to be outside for a while.


He nodded. “I want to talk to you about something important.” he said, with a low tone.

“Will he confess his feelings for me?” I muttered.

“What is it?” My heart skipped a bit as I waited for him to say what he wanted to talk about.

“I've always admired you, your closeness with Emily and everything. So my girlfriend is coming to stay with us and I don't know how Emily will react to that, all I want you to do is help me talk to Emily, I know how she behaves and I don't want her to be disrespectful.” Davis said, leaving me in shock. It was just as if I was dreaming.


So that was it, I didn't know what to say to him. A girlfriend? Coming to stay with them and now I'm to convince Emily to accept her.

I thought he felt something for me all this while but I was just a maid in his eyes. All I need to do is take care of his daughter.

“Why should I be the one to talk to Emily?” I managed to say.

He sighed. “She's very close to you and I'm sure she listens to you, I just want everything to go smoothly when she arrives. I know how Emily can be difficult sometimes and I thought you're the best to talk to her.”

I stood there, unsure of how to react to this.
