Chapter 12: Deadly Trap

Olivia's Pov

I overheard what the prosecutor had discussed with Devis. I quickly dialed Marcus' number to update him about what was going on.

“It's Olivia.” I whispered. “I overheard Davis and the prosecutor's conversation. They are planning to set up a meeting between Vincent and Davis tonight. I don't know what it's all about.”

“Did you get the location?” Marcus asked.

“I haven't found out about that yet, the prosecutor said he'll send the location to him. His secretary is always with his phone. I don't know how to get it.”

“Okay, keep me updated if you hear anything else, okay?” Marcus said.

I hung up the phone, I couldn't believe that Devis is risking his life to bring Vincent down. I just knew I had to support him no matter what.

After a while Maria walked in. She saw how startled I was. “What are you doing?”Maria asked.

“Nothing.” I said, rushing out of the kitchen. I walked back into the sitting room as I watched Davis pacing back and forth. He was obviously nervous but he was trying to tell himself he could do it.

“Can I talk to you Davis?” I asked,my voice urgent and low.

He looked up, “what is it?” his eyes narrowed as he asked.

“I’m sorry but I overheard your discussion with the prosecutor and I'm going with you.” I said.

“This is too dangerous, I won't let you do that, your duty in this house is to take care of Emily.” Davis said.

I knew he was right, I needed to keep Emily safe. That's my duty in the house.

“But you have to promise me you will stay safe. No matter what happens you have to come back safe for the sake of Emily.” I said.

“Sure, I will.” He nodded, his face set in determination. I thought I could get hold of his phone but I didn't. My heart raced as I watched Davis pace back and forth. I had tried to convince him to let me go with him so I'll know the location but I think he's right. My only duty was to take care of Emily.

Emily walked down, her innocent eyes gazing at us with curiosity. “What's going on?” She had sensed the tension I'm the air.

“Nothing, sweetheart, just adult conversation.” I smiled, trying to reassure her.

Emily looked at her Father. She knew something was wrong. “Come on, don't frown your face like that, everything is gonna be fine. I'm promising you that.” Devid face softened as he fixed his gaze at Emily.

He was obviously lying, nothing was going to be okay anytime soon. He is going for something risky tonight and I don't know if he was going to make it alive.

He was talking to Emily. I made sure all his concentration was on her, so I tried to make a move towards his phone just to get the address of where he will be meeting with Vincent. But to my surprise he caught my eyes, warning me not to try anything.

I have been caught. So I have to wait for another opportunity to get the information which is needed? I said to myself.

I had to pretend I wasn't trying to sneak a peek through his phone. I tried to appear nonchalant, forcing a smile on my face.

“Just want to take this glass of water.” I tried as much as possible to sound casual.

Davis knew I was up to something but he said nothing. I took the glass cup, I walked into the kitchen as my mind kept racing with thoughts on how to get the address.

I poured myself a glass of water, but instead I threw the water inside the sink. I poured juice inside the glass. Held it gently as I walked slowly to where Davis was. “You should calm yourself down with this.” I said placing the drink on the table. His phone was on the table, and as soon as I dropped the drink I saw the address display on the screen. I quickly memorized it. I had to tell Marcus the location as fast as I could.

As I turned to leave, Davis' eyes pierced onto mine. “Don't try following me.” He warned.

Davis knew exactly what I was planning,I tried to appear innocent by forcing a smile on my face. “What are you talking about?” I asked. Trying to act in a way he won't suspect me.

He just shook his head, his eyes never leaving mine. “Stop acting dumb, don't step your foot anywhere around that meeting.”

“Fine, I won't go.” I tried to sound convincing.

I left his presence, I got into my room, closing the door behind me. I dialed Marcus' number. “Hey, any update?” He asked.

“Yeah, I got the address. They will be meeting in the old warehouse, the address is 2341 East 4th street.” I whispered urgently. “He's walking into a trap, we have to act fast.”

“I'm on it, I'll get out guys watching the place.” He paused. “But you have to promise me something.”

“And what's that?” I asked.

“Promise me you'll stay away from the meeting, it's too dangerous. I'll handle it alone this time around.”

I knew he was right but I didn't want to sit back and do nothing. “I can't promise.”

I walked into Olivia's room after the call. “Hey, what are you doing?”

“I'm just trying to finish up a drawing.” She said,

I looked at what she was drawing and to my surprise it was Vincent putting on a mask. It means she had seen his face. “Emily, did you see this man's face?”

She nodded.”Where is your Dad?” I asked.

“He left the house, he said he wanted to deal with something urgent. Do you know what that is?” Emily asked.

“It's definitely going to be business, you don't have to worry about that.” I said, tying her hair properly.

“So tell me everything about this man in this drawing.” I said, in a calm voice.
