Chapter 95: The Death of Lisa
Olivia's Pov
As I sat on the couch the thought that I was getting married was scary. I switched on the TV to watch a show.
As Dave walked down the stairs he stared at me with confusion on his face. “Why are you lost in thought?” He asked.
“Just thinking about alot, the thought that marriage is a big step to take and I'm still doubting that I'm not ready.”
Dave's expression changed from concern to shock. "What are you talking about? We've been planning this for months!"
“I know right,” I smiled, “I was just joking.” I said, laughing.
The look on Dave's face showed he was relieved. “I hope you were really joking.” He said, as he raised his eyebrows. Making sure she's sure about that.
I rolled my eyes while still trying to reassure him. I didn't mean what I had said. “I was just joking, okay see the look on your face, you're really scared of losing me huh?”
Dave smiled, though I knew he was still unsure if I didn't mean what I just said. “I thought you were serious about that but I'm glad you were not.”
I hugged him as my arms were wrapped around him. I stood up from the couch, he held me on my waist. “Don't be scared, okay, I love you and it's just you and I forever. I'm ready to get married to you.”
“I love you too, don't say that again, I was scared you meant it.” Dave said, hugging me tightly.
He kissed me, as he placed his lips on mine I could feel his love and relief for me. I knew I made him scared and I had to make it up to him. “I didn't mean to scare you.” I laughed. “All I wanted to do was to see your reaction.”
He shook his head, “I think you got the reaction out of me now, but let's be serious now, if you do that again my heart won't be able to take it.” Davis chuckled.
I couldn't stop laughing. “No more jokes about that,I promise.”
After sometime we pulled back and Davis stared at me with a serious expression. “I thought you meant it, I was really scared.”
“Don't say that, you won't lose me, never.” I said, giving him a peck on his cheeks. “I'm always here for you for the long haul.”
He was relieved. “Forever and Always.” He said, as he kissed me softly.
He held me on my waist as we headed to the room.
As we walked to the room, I couldn't help but feel a sense of ownership and pride. I knew he was my person and everything I ever wanted.
Just then, a call came in, breaking the silence. Davis hesitated before picking up the call. “Hey, how have you been?” He said in a casual tone.
I observed him as he changed from being calm to shock. “Are you serious? When? What do you mean? That can't be true.” He said.
“Is anything wrong?” I asked, my heart was racing with anticipation as he hung up.
“It's Lisa, she's dead.” Davis said,
That was bad news to take. “She wasn't in town. She came from Paris to attend our wedding but had an accident on her way to the hotel she was to stay at. Her daughter survived it.”
“That's bad news, how is her daughter now? What hospital is she in?” I asked.
Davis sighed heavily.

I knew Lisa doesn't have a family and the man she was with wasn't ready to take responsibility. The only thing I could think of was her daughter. “I don't even know her name.” I muttered.
“Whose name?” Olivia asked
“The name of Lisa's daughter. I'm sure Lisa has no family and why was my number the only number they saw to call.” I said,
“Are you saying the little girl has no family left?” Olivia asked
“Yeah, Lisa's parents died in a plane crash.” I said,
Olivia's eyes were filled with tears. “This is so heartbreaking, are you saying the little girl is going to be alone in this world?”
I felt a sense of responsibility. “That's what it looks like. I'm the only one who can take care of her or she will be kept in the orphanage.”
Olivia sighed. “We will have to take care of her together, I can't let them take her to the foster care system.”
I was surprised Olivia said that. “Are you being serious right now? You're willing to take care of the little girl?” I looked at her, it was unbelievable that she's saying that.
Olivia nodded her head, “We will take care of her together okay?”
Taking a deep breath, I tried to process the weight of taking care of the little girl. I thought bringing in a nanny would help. “We're getting married in a few hours and just immediately we will be faced with the responsibility of raising a 5-year-old girl.”
We sat on the bed I'm silence, my hands wrapped around Olivia as I thought of the best thing to do.
More questions came to my mind as I thought of the best thing to do. But I am certain we could do it since Olivia agreed to it. That was all that mattered.
I thought about how our lives were about to turn drastically.
I looked at Olivia for a while who was deep in thought. I wondered what she was thinking about. I could obviously see the concern on her face. I was beginning to love her more. I loved the fact that she was willing to take the challenge with me and she wasn't against it.
“You don't have to do this if you're against it. You should think this through okay? Be Sure about this decision.” I said.
Olivia's eyes were filled with tears as she turned to me. “We both didn't plan for this but we should take the responsibility if this little girl in question lets give her a loving family and a good home.”
I nodded my head as I felt a sense of resolve. “I know right, we can do this.”
We held each other tightly as we sat on the bed. We were still trying to process the journey we have ahead of us.
“Let's go to the hospital after our wedding tomorrow, we will hire a nanny to take care of her till we get back from our honeymoon.” Olivia said,
“That will be a good idea.” I said,
We knew we could face this together along the way. “Tomorrow is a big day.” I said, hugging her. I pulled back to look at her. “We are getting married.”
Olivia smiled, her eyes were filled with tears she couldn't believe it either. “I'm so ready for it, we are starting a life of marriage together and we will be giving the little girl a home. We just have to tell Emily about this later.”
While we sat in silence still holding hands Olivia spoke up again. “So what's her name and we need to arrange a room for her.” Olivia said,
I nodded, knowing she was right. “Let’s concentrate on our marriage for now before we think about what to do.”
