Chapter 60: The prisoner in the Mansion

Rebbeca's Pov

I arranged for the caregiver, many people had applied for the job and Davis had told me to pick the best. I took the responsibility seriously. Numerous applications came in my laptop. I was determined to choose the best person.

One of the candidates caught my attention. Her name is Sophia, she was an expert and had years of experience taking care of pregnant women.

I invited Sophia over, sent her the address and she came for the interview and I had prepared some questions for her. She arrived, she was looking decent and prepared for whatever I had. We sat in the living room. All Sophia references were impeccable.

As Sophia began to speak I knew she was the perfect person for the job. The way she talked and all.
After the interview with Sophia I told her to resume the next day, I was happy that I have find the perfect caregiver for the job,
I told Davis about Olivia and he liked her already. “When is she resuming?” He asked.

“Tomorrow sir.” I said.

The next day Sophia was already settling in the house. I showed her the room she'd be staying in.

Olivia's Pov

I stood at the entrance of the kitchen, I didn't know what to cook. “Hey what are you doing?” Caleb asked.

“Just here, no idea for now.” I said.

“Have you seen Davis since you left his house?” He asked.

“Nah, I've not.” I lied. I knew there was no point lying but I did.

“Alright.” Caleb said, raising his eyebrows.

I really don't know why I was denying my encounter with Davis.

“Why don't we make pasta?” Caleb said.

“I’m not craving for that now.” I said. “Grilled cheese sandwiches will be okay.

“What changed? I know you don't like sandwiches.” Caleb said.

“But that's what I'm craving for today.” I said, I walked towards the refrigerator, took the bread and cheese as I sat in the chair in the kitchen.

“I noticed you've been acting weird, did something happen?” He asked.

“I'm damn tired, nothing more.” I said.

“Something is definitely going on.” Caleb said.

“You know this is the problem with you, you want to know everything.” I shouted.

“You don't need to shout at me sis, you know I will always ask you.” Caleb said.

Caleb stepped closer, “I can tell you are worried about something and whatever it might be, it's something big.” he said.

He was right something big. “Well I had gone to see Rebbeca, she's Davis' secretary, and she pleaded with me to come see her. I didn't hesitate to go but it was surprising I met Caleb there.”

“But you told me you haven't seen him since the day you left his house.” Caleb said.

“You talk too much.” I said, eyeing him.

“So there's this murder scene in his house and he got all of this from that scene.” I said, walking to my room, bringing out the box.

“Get your hands off it, we need to get the fingerprints for all this and I want you to work with me.” I said.

“But why did he want you to handle this?” He asked.

“He trusts me and feels I can handle it, though I'm confused bro.” I said.

I guess Caleb is shocked at why Davis will want me to handle a case like this after being a spy in his house.

“I really don't know why he wants me to take this investigation myself.” I muttered.

Caleb wore a glove in his hands, he also handed a glove to me. We went through the things in the box, we sifted through the content in the box carefully.

After a while Caleb nodded. “I think I've got something here.”

“What is it?” I asked.

“I found a fingerprint,” Caleb said.

“Who is it?” I asked. “Is it a male or female?” I asked.

But Caleb's expression turned into confusion. “Wait a moment.”

After a while he revealed that the fingerprint belonged to a female. I don't know who this person is. The picture displayed on the computer screen.

“We should send the picture to Davis then, maybe he knows this woman.” I said.

“But why are you doing this for him, it can get us into trouble you know.” Caleb said.

I rolled my eyes. “I know, I can't be an FBI agent without taking risks.”

We sent the pic to Davis quickly and waited for his response. Our eyes were fixed on the screen. A message came in after a while. “I don't know this person.”

I tried to think about what connection Davis has had with this person. “This is becoming more complicated.” I said to Caleb.

“This might not be the real culprit,” he said. He was making sense.

“So who is the real culprit, this might also be connected to the death of the bodyguard which was found in the living room.” I muttered to myself.

“So are you saying there's a connection with this woman's finger print and that bodyguard murder.” He asked.

“Yes, the bodyguard murder was a warning to Davis then.” I said.

“It could be that the bodyguard saw something he shouldn't have, that's why he was killed, all we need to do is dig deeper.” Caleb said.

I agreed with him. We searched through the database looking for every necessary information.

It looks like Caleb's eyes widened, what have he seen? “The bodyguard in question worked for a private firm before he started working as Davis bodyguard and the person he had worked for in that private firm is this woman.” He says, pointing at the woman we had seen on the screen before.

Things were becoming more clear to us. “Maybe the bodyguard had threatened this woman he was going to tell Davis something, I don't know, I'm still trying to figure out why she killed him.”

“This is going more than just a murder investigation, there are a lot of things to uncover, it seems like Davis has a lot of enemies.” Caleb said.

“This should be the figure Davis saw in the murder scene. But how are we going to find this woman?” I asked.

“We just need to find out her motive, we need to know if she's connected to Vincent and Lisa.” I added.

“There's no way we can do this alone, you have to involve another detective.” Caleb said, as his eyes snapped on mine.

“Yeah, you have a point there, we need a team so we can work together. I will make sure I get people to work with me. But then if the woman in question is connected to Lisa and Vincent then we have to be very careful.” I said.

“You didn't eat your bread and cheese again?” Caleb asked.

I smiled. “I will eat that later for now let's get to work.”

“No way, you have to eat first.” He said.

I removed the gloves from my hand. Walked to the kitchen and washed my hands in the sink. I made sure I raised them properly with a clean dry cloth.

While I was eating, Caleb was still making some findings.
