Chapter 91: Childhood Cousin
Emily's Pov
The person continued banging the door. “Who's it?” I asked, trying all I could to sound calm.
“Can I come in? It's Micheal.”
I wondered what exactly Micheal was looking for in my room. O hesitated before replying to him. “You can come in.”
He opened the door. “I know you will be wondering why I'm here. Just checking up on you.”
I blinked my eyes.
L“What's with that look? Did anything happen?” He asked.
“I'm good, just talking to school friends.” I said, so he won't think I'm a loner.
.
“Yeah, I know how it feels sometimes, you just feel like talking to other people.” Michael said.
As we sat on the bed I told Micheal how worried I was about Vivian, my friend who I wasn't able to reach. Michael And I sat and talked for a while then I realized I had misjudged him. He was nice and his smile was charming. I would have fallen for him if not because he was my cousin. “So tell me why you just like being alone, Joanna and Rachel feel uncomfortable around you.”
I was quiet for a few seconds before I spoke up. “That was the reason I was looking for them. I just wanted to apologize, that wasn't the real me. You can tell I'm a nice person.”
Micheal laughed out loud. “I guess that was not the real you. As I stepped my foot into this house I knew the way you welcomed me you didn't mean it.”
“And how are you sure I didn't mean it?” I said, laughing.
“Because I knew you before now. I guess you've forgotten how we used to be when we were four.” Micheal said.
I brought out a chocolate from my drawer. I was still trying to understand what Micheal was saying. “You mean we knew ourselves when we were four?”
Micheal nodded. “Yes, that's what I'm trying to say.”
“I really can't remember knowing you.” I said.
“I guess you have a low memory.” Micheal said.
“I can remember every event that happened while I was that age but I still can't remember knowing you then, when you walked into the house i knew I had never seen you before.” I said.
Micheal just kept laughing. “Well I'm the little Dave you knew when we were small. I changed my name when I was transferred to a new school because I wanted everything to be new.”
“Are you serious? Are you saying you're the little Dave I knew then?” I said, surprised.
“We were both little, why are you only being specific about me?” I said.
I cut off the chocolate with my teeth.
“You always eat chocolates then. A Lot about you didn't change. What I was just surprised about was that you don't like being around us, your cousins.” Micheal said, rolling his eyes.
I still couldn't believe Michael was the Dave I knew. “You grew taller, I remember when we argued about who was taller.”
“I guess now you will believe me when I say I'm taller than you.” Michael said,
As I sat on the bed, my mind raced at the countless memories we had. I remembered when we rode bicycles together. There were lots of memories about us. “I guess you are really the Dave I knew.”
Micheal nodded, smiling at me.
“Dp what's the reason behind your new name? Was it necessary to change that?” I asked.
“I just felt like I should change it.” Michael said.
“You know I prefer to call you Dave instead of Michael.” I said.
“Well any of the names you feel like calling me you can, I'm not against you calling me Dave. I guess you are comfortable with that.” Micheal said.
“So won't you like to join us?” He asked.
“Where?” I asked.
Michael rolled his eyes. He always behaved like a girl. Sometimes when he dresses up you won't be able to recognize him. “We're planning on going out today, you know staying indoors is always boring.”
I sighed. “Not a bad idea, but I will be going to the gym later in the evening.”
“We can all go to the gym then, we haven't even gotten a location. We were just thinking of the best place to go and I think the gym isn't a bad idea.” Micheal said.
“Will the others agree to follow me to the gym?” I asked.
“Of course, why not? Everyone wants to be around you but they are all scared you won't let that.” Micheal said, smiling. “Maybe you should smile often because the way you keep your face sometimes can chase people away from you.”
I hit him on his head. “What do you mean by that?”
“You should just smile, sometimes your facial expression looks like you are going to punch someone.” He said, laughing out loud.
I knew he wasn't wrong. He was right and I needed to do something about that.
“Hey darling, what did you have for lunch?” Olivia said, as she walked in. She was surprised to see Micheal and I.
“Now I'm surprised.” Olivia said, “I jad no idea you both are getting along with each other.”
“Well we are.” Micheal say, with a grin.
Olivia looked at me surprised, “Seems you both are in the middle of a discussion. Food is ready and everyone is waiting for you both. I was surprised you both were absent so I had to come look for you.”
“You guys can just eat without us today.” Micheal said,
“Yes mom, we will eat ours later, I'm not really hungry.” I said,
I knew Olivia won't listen to that excuse. “Your discussion can wait. You both should get up now let's go have lunch together.”
I rolled my eyes. “But mom, we don't usually eat lunch together, why today?”
“That's what Grandma and Grandpa want so we should respect that at least.” Olivia said,
I smiled. I knew those two were capable of doing things like that. “Let's go Dave.”
“Who's Dave?” Olivia asked.
“Well, he's first name was Dave but he changed his name.” I said.
“Whats the point in changing your name?” Olivia asked Micheal curiosly.
We both left to the table where the food was arranged. There was different varieties of dishes. “You can go for what ever food you want to eat.” Olivia said.
We both nodded while we sat down. Joanna and Rachel eyes were fixed on me. I thought it would be best if I apologize to them that instant. They fixed their gaze on me. I didn't know what they were thinking or up to.
“Why are you guys staring at each other that way.” Grandma asked.
I smiled. She must have noticed that. “Well, I have something to say.”
“And what's that?” she asked.
“I was so rude to Rachel and Joanna, all I said to you both I really didn't mean it. I'm sorry, you both can come and stay with me in my room before I finally go back to school.” I said.
“Are you serious? Do you mean it?” Rachel asked.
“Yeah. I'm sorry.” I added.
“I'm surprised you changed your mind.” My dad said,
