Chapter 65: Edward's Continuous proposal
Olivia's Pov
Edward was angry, Caleb didn't care as he continued talking. “You sure deserve someone better than him.”
“Stop it Caleb, you said what you wanted to say already, just shut up.” I said.
Edward cleared his throat. “How dare you say that about me huh? Do you know me? You can't just talk about someone like that, you know nothing about me.”
“Why will you say I know nothing, I know one thing and that is you're not good for my sister.” he smirked.
“This is ridiculous, you both should stop.” I shouted.
“He's not good for you.” Caleb said.
Edward's face was red with anger, “I was only trying to help her since she has been single, I was only trying to be of help.”
“Really, Did you hear that Olivia? You were just trying to be of help to whom? Did she tell you she needs all of that? Coming from a guy like you.”
“I'm nothing compared to you, you're just a little boy who got slapped by his fianceé.” Edward said, rolling his eyes.
“I told you both to stop.” I shouted again.
But they didn't listen to me. They continued their argument. “This is not necessary, I don't know what has gotten into both of you and you Edward you don't act like a grown up man, must you exchange words with him?” I said, walking away from the living room.
I could still hear their argument as I walked away. I closed the door behind me as I walked into my room. It's really hard staying with those guys.
Just then I got a call from Emily. I didn't know she was the one at first until I picked her call. “Hey Kiddo, what are you up to, I'm surprised you called.”
“You don't have to be surprised, I just stole your number from my Dad's phone.” Emily said.
“Really?” I said, laughing out loud.
“Who are you on the phone with?” Someone asked from the background, I could recognize that voice, it looks like that of Maria.
“It's none of your business.” Emily said.
I wondered why she had replied to Maria that way. “Hey sweetie, who was that?”
“That's Maria, what's with her, must she know who I'm talking to.” She said,
I smiled. “I know right, you feel that's your privacy but you shouldn't have replied her
that way.”
“Alright, I won't do that again.” Emily said. “I will be expecting you tomorrow.”
“I knew that was the reason you called, I remember and I won't disappoint you.” I said, laughing.
“You better not.” Emily said, with all authority.
I enjoyed how Emily does talk, even at her young age, the confidence she has while she speaks and all.
I was making a mental note to clear some schedule, “Tell me the time you want me to come.”
“By 2pm, I heard my Dad saying there would be lunch by that time, then from there I will show you my new painting.” Emily said
“Seems you planned it all already. I will see you then.” I replied, smiling.
I hung up the phone, it was nice talking to Emily. Edward and I were supposed to continue the investigation. We got all the necessary equipment we needed.
As I left the room, Edward approached me. “Hey why have you been avoiding me?”
“Avoiding you? I'm not avoiding you.”
“Let's talk then.” he said with an urgent voice.
I felt a sense of trepidation. “What do you want to talk about?”
“I know you don't want to talk about this but I have to keep asking. Sorry for saying that to you yesterday, I didn't mean to put it that way. I don't want to date you because I feel pity for you. I really love you, will you go on a date with me?” Edward took a step closer to me.
His eyes were locked on mine. “I told you yesterday that I'm not interested.” I said.
He sighed. “Are you rejecting me?”
“Obviously that's what it looks like I'm doing.” I said, raising my eyebrow skeptically.
“Don't say that Olivia.” Edward's chest was heaving as he took a deep breath.
“I can't go out on a date with you.” I laughed, a bitter sound.
I don't know how genuine he was but I wasn't going to be in a relationship with him, I don't love him. Davis is the person my heart belongs to, but he's too busy to see all of that.
I was carried away and I didn't know Edward was still talking, when I came back to reality the only word I could hear him saying was. “Just consider going on a date with me, I'm cute and I have perfect height, why don't you like me?”
I laughed out loud. “Wow, so you think having a perfect height and being cute is all I need?”
“I know right, but why don't you give me a chance.” He said.
“Edward or whatever is your name, you are here to work out somethings with me, I don't see why you should be distracted now, this is time for you to be focused.” I said, In a low tone.
But Edward wasn't ready to hear all of that. “I know how you feel but my feelings also matter, I feel nothing for you, I just see you as a work partner, it's not about you being cute, it's about the value and interest I see in that person.”
“But I have the value you need and for the interest, I'm sure with time you'll get to know how you feel about me.” Edward said. “We have a connection, can't you see how smart I am, I should be charming enough for you.”
“There's nothing like a connection between us Edward, you're not your type and I feel nothing for you.” I said.
“Okay, fine, just go out with me, nothing more.” He said.
“Why will I?” I asked.
“Can't business partners go out for lunch?” He asked.
“Lunch? I think my house should be okay to have that long.” I don't know why he's not seeing how obvious it was that I don't want to go out with him. “You're using lunch as an excuse, you're obviously asking me to go out on a date with you.”
“It's just lunch, nothing more than that, I assure you to be on my best behavior.” Edward said.
“I'm going to have lunch with you only on one condition.” I paused. Only as business partners.
“Sure, since that's what you want I'm okay with that.” He said. “When will you be free tomorrow?”
I remembered I was supposed to go and see Emily tomorrow so I told him nine o'clock in the night should be okay. “Don't be late, I will be waiting for you then.”
Edward left after that since we were done for the day. “Hey, what were you both talking about that took so long?” Caleb asked.
“I don't see how that is any of your business.” I replied.
“Actually, I need to mind my business.” He said.
“Come here.” I said, mocking him jokingly. “We're having lunch tomorrow together.”
“I'm I included?” Caleb asked.
“Nah, just me and Caleb alone.” I said.
Caleb signed. “I knew it,that guy was up to something, you're going on a date with him?” Caleb asked in shock.
