Chapter 57: Moment of Desire

Olivia's Pov

I tried to remove the thought of the guy off my head and concentrated on my food. “So what do you do?” Annie's father asked.

“Yeah, I work as an FBI,” Alex, Annie's brother, stared at me as I said that.

“F..B..I..” he said, dragging each letter.

I looked at Alex wondering why he had reacted that way or did I make a mistake mentioning my profession? “I wasn't gonna lie about that anyways.” I muttered.

“So what made you choose that profession?” Annie's father asked.

“Well, I've always wanted justice, I feel bad when I see innocent people being killed and more I just want to make a difference.” I said, trying to compose myself.

Alex kept looking at me, his eyes never leaving mine. “But we should talk about something else, my brother here never told me he engaged anyone,I was surprised to hear that today.”

Alex's smile was making me uneasy, I tried to ignore that, focusing on his father. Alex's father noticed the tension so he kept asking me questions. The meal drew to a close, but Avex's piercing gaze was still fixed on me.

Their parents left, leaving us alone. I didn't know how to tell Caleb I wanted to leave, I really don't want to talk to this Alex guy.

I bent to adjust my heel, I felt a hand touching me on my shoulder, “Let me help you with that.”

I looked up and saw Alex standing before me. “I'm okay adjusting it on my own.” But he insisted.

“Can we sit over there?” He said pointing to an empty large couch.

I nodded as my mind raced with all kinds of possibilities. I turned only to discover Caleb looking at me with a smile on his face. “Don't tell this guy planned all of this.” I muttered.

“What?” Alex asked.

I rolled my eyebrows. “Was that loud?”

He nodded. I could feel his breath sending shivers down my spine, I wasn't myself around him, I could do something stupid.

“So you didn't know your brother was engaged?” He asked.

“My bad, he told me nothing about that till this evening.” I said.

“Well maybe he has his reasons.” Alex said.

I knew Caleb had his reasons so it was unnecessary for him to tell me that. “I know right.”

He sighed. “And you work as an FBI Agent?”

“Yeah.” I said.

“Not bad.” He said, now I don't understand Alex's interest in my profession.

“You're married I guess.” Alex said, smiling.

I smiled. “Nah, I'm not.”

The look on his face shows how surprised he was. “Why that look?”

“My bad.” He said.

“That's interesting.” He said.

Me not being married was interesting to him, I don't see why it should. I ignored his statement.

But I had to say something. “There's nothing interesting about that.” I said, trying to play cool.

“You know when you walked him I was charmed by your beauty and I thought you might be married or have a boyfriend.” Alex said.

I knew he was charming, but he wasn't my speck. Looking at him closely I wondered why I was charmed by him. “Care for a drink.” Annie asked.

“Yeah I will love that.” I said. I was able to breathe again.

“I’m waiting for your reply about you having a boyfriend.” He said.

“And why are you so interested in my relationship status?” I asked, raising my eyebrow.

“Maybe because someone has an interest in you.” He said.

“Well I'm in love with someone.” I said, rolling my eyes.

“And who is the lucky man?” He asked.

“Well, we're not dating officially, but I know we will someday.” I said.

Annie left us and now my breath seized again. “So are you saying you're in love with a guy who feels nothing about you.”

I sighed. “I can't tell if he doesn't really feel something for me.” .

“You must really be in love with the guy in question.” He said, his voice was barely above a whisper. But I didn't give him a reply. “I think you should give up on that love. Why can't you be with someone who loves you genuinely?”

“And who is the person?” I asked, looking round. “You?”

He smiled. “You know exactly what I'm talking about.”

“You asked why I can't give up on that love right? The reason is that it's a love that is meant to be,” I said in a husky and lie tone.

But his eyes were locked onto mine filled with intensity.

Alex moved closer to me. My laos were exposed since the dress I wore was very short. He touched my lap and it sent a shiver. I didn't know how to pull away, I was enjoying the touch.

He kissed me on my neck, I was really letting him have his way, I guess I wanted that.

I knew I had to leave if I didn't want to regret my actions. I turned to check for Caleb but he wasn't there. “Where is the restroom?”

I stood up to direct me there but I told him to just point where it was. He did that sitting back on the couch. I left for the restroom, I closed the door behind me as I walked in, I sighed heavily, “Oh my God, that was almost close.”

To my surprise Alex walked in, I couldn't resist it anymore, I kissed him so passionately as our lips met. There was no way I could stop myself. I was filled with the warmth of his embrace. He pulled off my clothes, keeping it on the ground. I couldn't believe I was doing that with Alex, his hands exploded on my body. I didn't want to do that with him but I had to satisfy my desire because I couldn't resist his touch.

I was laid by him on the cold floor in the restroom. I knew I felt exposed, I needed him so badly that I couldn't help myself.

We were lost for a moment with the intimacy we shared. But after a while I pushed Alex away, coming back to reality.

“Come on, don't act that way, don't pretend you didn't enjoy every single moment we spent here.” he said. “Let's start a relationship, the guy you love doesn't deserve you as much as I do.”

I quickly wore my dress and after a while the door swung open. Caleb's eyes were filled with shock seeing us like that.

“I've been looking for you.” He said.

I tried to speak but a word didn't come out of my mouth. “What I've I done?” I said, as Caleb left.

Caleb and I got into the car as we headed home. He was smiling nonstop. “Hey, why are you smiling?” I asked.

He smiled. “You like Alex right?”

“Like? Nah, I don't.” I said, in a low tone.

He laughed. “You don't need to deny it sis, I saw everything, didn't you have sex with him?”

“What are you saying?” I wanted to act dumb but Caleb's gaze was fixed on me not to deny it.

“You don't need to lie about it, you looked at him so passionately and I saw the way you kissed him.” He said.

I couldn't believe my brother saw all of that. “It's time you give love a try with someone else, don't you think so?”
