Chapter 52: Strange Discovery
Davis Pov
As soon as we drove into the mansion, Emily jumped out of the car happily, Rebbeca hugged her tight, but the way she was looking around, she was obviously searching for someone. “Where is Olivia?” I asked
“Ohh, she left.” Maria said
“Even without getting paid?” I said.
“We told her to stay but she refused.” Rebecca said.
“Anyways she should.” I said. I was really angry and upset with her.
But Emily was angry that she had gone without telling her. “How could she do this to me?”
I held Emily arms, “you don't need to be angry, she offended Daddy so she had to leave.”
“But can't you forgive her?” Emily asked.
“She left on her own sweetie.” I said.
Emily grudgingly left. “I want her, she needs to come back.”
I sighed, Lisa was still there. “I will hand you over to the police and as for Vincent I will get him soon.”
“Take her to the empty space where her parents were kept till the cops arrive.” I said.
The bodyguard did as I had said. They dragged Lisa into the house.
I watched as the bodyguard dragged Lisa away. I felt betrayed. How would Lisa do such a thing to me? I thought she loved me genuinely but I was wrong, it's all for the money.
Emily met me in the garden, “Daddy, why are you angry Olivia?”
I wasn't ready for Emily's question, but at the same time I can't ignore her. I tried to compose myself. “Sweetie, she did something wrong, she never trusted me.”
But Emily was still confused, that was not what she wanted to hear.
“Okay, she was brought to this house as a spy.” I said.
“A spy, why would she do that to us,” Emily's face was fixed in confusion.
“I have to idea, but sometimes people do things for reasons we don't understand, all we need to do is to be careful.” I said.
Just then, Rebbeca came towards our direction, she sat in one of the chairs in the garden. Looking at Emily, “Emily I know how you feel, I told Olivia that you will feel bad, I know how much you love Olivia and she had told me to tell she loves you alot.” I said.
“Now this is too much for me, why will she do that?” Emily said, her face crumpled, she buried her face in my chest, crying.
After a while a loud crash was heard. Rebbeca and I exchanged a worried glance wondering what was that. “Daddy, it's Cooper.” Emily said. That was her dog, it had gone missing for months and nobody knew its whereabouts but now he was back, wagging his tail. He was shaking off leaves and dirt in his body, his fur was tangled.
“You left, where have you been?” Emily said to Cooper stroking his fur. She knew he wouldn't answer, he was just a dog. He only nodded his head.
But looking at Cooper I could tell he was scared, I don't know what he was scared of. Something was off about the dog.
Cooper started barking as Emily took a step closer to him, his eyes were wide with fear.
“Daddy, what is wrong with him?” Emily asked.
“Wait Emily, it seems like copper has a message for us.” I said.
Just then Cooper wagged his tails. He started digging a part in the garden, he brought out a knife with his mouth. This was a shock to us. Emily moved back. “And why is he bringing out a knife?” Emily asked.
Rebbeca looked at me, “This is definitely something.”
I took out a small face whip from my pocket. I took the knife with it, it was stained with blood.
I couldn't help but think about what this meant. I wondered whose blood it was. As I held the knife, Cooper's eyes were fixed on me.
“Emily go inside.” I said, with a firm voice. I really need to figure out what this was. “Cooper came back scared, only to dig out a knife that was buried in the garden with blood stains all over it.” I muttered, still confused.
My attention was on Cooper who was still barking. I wished he could just tell me what this was all about. “Okay, you should stop barking, I won't harm you.” I said.
After saying that, he stopped barking, his tail wagging freely. He led me to a corner in the garden, which was filled with dried leaves. He used his mouth to push the leaves. He brought out a ring. “Wow, this is becoming interesting.” I said. I picked the ring with a small cloth.
It's an old golden ring, it has a blue red stone around it. “Who owns this ring and this ring has something to do with the knife with blood.”
Cooper just kept wagging his tail, so I decided to search the garden. Rebbeca was still standing looking with shock. The sun was already setting, casting shadows across the garden, I felt a sense of unease,
“Someone was murdered here. That is the only thing I can think of.`` Rebbeca said.
She was making sense, this could be the knife the person must have used to murder whoever it is and this ring must belong to the culprit.
I carefully placed the ring in a chair, Rebbeca's eyes caught something strange. She had seen a fabric on the floor, also stained with blood. “Come and see this.” She said,
I rushed towards her direction, I called for Maria and she had brought a glove with her. I wore gloves on my hand. I then carefully removed the fabric examining it, it was a pant shirt with blood.
I knew someone had been hurt here, I turned to Cooper, he was growling softly.
Just then Cooper started barking. “What is it?” I asked, facing him. There was a figure standing with a mask on, I couldn't tell who it was exactly. The figure was watching.
I froze, my heart skipped and I was unsure of what to do. The figure stood there without moving and I could sense its gaze on me. “Who are you?” I said, with a firm voice.
But immediately I said that the figure ran, jumping from the fence that surrounds the house. Now I know this is strange. The bloodstained shirt and knife, the ring and now the figure that was here. I turned to Rebbeca. “Did you see that?” I asked.
She nodded, it seemed like she was shivering with fear. I went out of the house wondering if I could see the direction it had followed but I was late, I was supposed to follow immediately. Cooper kept barking.
I scanned the area but I couldn't see the figure, Cooper continuous barking was starting to unnerve me. I turned to Rebbeca who was also looking in confusion. “I need to find Olivia, we need her back.” I said.
I could see the smile on Rebbeca's face. “Why are you smiling?” I asked.
“Nothing sir.” She said, but I knew she also wanted Olivia back. But one thing I wasn't so sure about is her leaving her job to come work for me.
