Chapter 17: The Trap

Olivia's Pov

We both left the house to see Marcus in the hospital. We rushed to the hospital. The thought of losing him was unbearable.

The antiseptic smell filled my nostril as we made our way to meet marcus. We got to where he was, tubes and wires surrounded him beeping in rhythm.

I rushed to where he was laid. “Oh my God,”I whispered, my voice cracking with emotions. How could Vincent do this? I won't let him get away with this.”

The doctor walked in. “He's okay for now, but we need to watch him closely because the next 24 hours are crucial.

I tried to push my anger aside. I left the hospital without telling Davis I was leaving.

Davis Pov

I wondered where Olivia must have gone to, I searched everywhere for her but she was nowhere to be found.

I traced her through her phone. I couldn't believe my eyes as I traced her phone. “Where is she going? Will she be safe? I finally got the location she was going. She was close to a hill and to my findings I guess that was Vincent's hideout. “How did she find out about that place?” I said.

I had to act fast, she must have rushed there after seeing the condition of Marcus. I knew I had to act fast. I grabbed my car keys and drove towards the hill. The road wasn't busy. What if something happens to her, how would she cope? Why did she decide to come here?

As I was getting closer to the hill, there was a small building which I guess was I'd hideout. I saw Olivia's car packed outside. I tried packing my car in a place where it wouldn't be noticed. His men were all standing outside. “How did she get in there'” I muttered to myself.

I saw a small opening at the back of the hill that leads to the house. I quickly went that way. I wasn't sure if I should go in there. But I was already there and I had to make an attempt to help her.

I crawled into the house, my eyes scanning the dimly lit space. My heart skipped a bit when I saw her. She was helpless and trapped while Vincent was looming over her. I hid for a moment. Then I charged towards him, my blood with anger. I was ready to fight for Olivia's life. I was holding a rod in my hand. I used that to hit Vincent on his head. But to my surprise it was of no use.

“Oh wow, see who we have here.” Vincent said, clapping his hands. His men moved towards my direction but he told them to stand back.

“It's a good thing you are here to save her.” He smiled.

“You're just a fool Vincent, you have no human blood flowing in you, should I say you're a monster. Why do you derive Joy in hurting people?”

His smile just grew wider, “You're a clever one.” He sneered. ‘“But you're not right, I'm not a monster.” He smiled. “There's something you don't know, I'm just a man that has been awakened to the true nature of the world and only the strongest survive.”

“And I think I'm strong.” He took a step closer to me. His eyes fixed on mine. “I've always wanted you to cross me, I've been waiting for you, I knew someone brave enough will come and rescue her.”

“You will make a perfect addition to my collection, you both can just die here and I will make sure your bodies will not be found.” He laughed, a cold mirthless sound.

“Why did you follow me Davis? you have your daughter, what will she do without you?” Olivia said, crying.

“Why did you come here alone? You know how this man is yet you decided to come, whY is wrong with you?” I said, angrily. “You're also someone Olivia loves and she won't be okay if you're gone, so I'm not saving you for anything if not for her sake.” I said.

I took a rod that was close to me, ready to strike again. But his men had seen what I was up to. They lunged at me. Vincent moved closer, his hand closing around my throat.

“Can you please stop?” Olivia shouted.

I struggled so hard to breathe. I used all my strength to push against him, refusing to give up. But my strength was nothing compared to his.

“Let him go Vincent.” Olivia kept shouting. Her hands were tied so she couldn't do anything.

Marcus waited all day without seeing us. He was getting better but he found it strange that when he woke up, he found only his men. “Was Olivia here?” He asked.

They told him she had come earlier but left hurriedly. He asked for his phone, dialed her number, her phone rang but she wasn't picking up.

He tracked her number and to his surprise she was obviously in Vincent's trap.

He wanted to leave but his men refused. “We'll go save her instead, you aren't strong enough for this now.” They said,

Olivia was standing before Vincent, there was nothing she could do, her both hands and legs were tied to each other. He knew she was at his back.

There was nothing Olivia could do. I just feared that she'd get hurt. “You have me Vincent, let him go.”

“That's so sweet, I need him more than you, I can let you go, but this man here, I don't think I'll forgive myself if I let him go.” he laughed, his grip on my throat loosening slightly.

But Olivia refused to back down, she threw her saliva at his face as he turned towards her.

I thought Marcus would have been of help if he was strong but there's no way he can this time.

“And your dear Marcus is too weak to do anything, I guess.” Vincent said.

“You lie, don't be surprised, Marcus is stronger than you think.” Olivia spat out.

Just then there was a loud crash on the door.
