Chapter 47: Back to the Mansion

Olivia's Pov

I had slept at Caleb's apartment. On waking up, I rolled on the bed, the sun shone directly on my face, and I stretched my arms. What had happened last night flashed back in my mind. I looked around the room but I couldn't find Caleb. His phone was on the bed but he wasn't there. I was really tired but I had to go back before they got worried about my whereabouts.

I got up from the bed, throwing the covers of the bed, “Caleb.” I called, but still no answer.

I made my way to the kitchen, Caleb was preparing breakfast. I smiled, looking at how my kid brother had grown huge and towering over me.

The aroma of the food filled the air as I entered the kitchen and it made my stomach growl with hunger. “You're awake, sleepyhead.” He said, with a deep voice.

I felt a mix of emotion as I walked to him. “Good morning. What time did you get up from bed?”

“I didn't sleep all night, I had to watch over you, then decided to make this breakfast.” he shrugged.

He moved around the kitchen getting some ingredients he would need for the preparation of the meal. “Can I join you?” I asked.

“Nah, it's now time I treat you like this since you decided not to get yourself a boyfriend.” Caleb said.

“Come on, do you think I don't want one?” I said.

He smiled. “Then what is stopping you huh?”

We chatted and laughed, our conversation flowing easily like we used to do when we were younger.

“That lady must be really envious of you.” Caleb said.

“What lady?” I asked, helping him to dish the food while he washed his hands.

“The lady I shot yesterday.” Caleb laughed.

“You always find things like this funny.” I said, laughing along with him.

“But how could she do something like that to her fellow gender, what would she gain?” Caleb said.

“My dear, she has a lot to gain if I'm not alive, but I won't let her come in between father and daughter, she's trying to divide that family and I won't let that happen.” I said.

“Don't you think you are going too far?” Caleb asked.

“Not until I reveal my main intention in that house.” I said. “I don't know what Davis would do to me if he finds out the truth.”

We sat down to eat, I kept smiling, seeing how much Caleb had changed. I took a bite of the food, it tasted good. “Not as bad as I had expected.” I said.

As soon as we were done with our meal, our conversation flowed again, “I should get going now.” I said.

“That's so soon, you should stay.” Caleb said.

“I know right, but I will come see you by the weekend.” I said.

Caleb dropped me off. I had to pretend to be a normal low life lady struggling to survive. I've not been using my car because I had to act like a maid.


Davis Pov

I watched as Olivia quietly opened the door.

“You're here, where have you been?” I said.

“Oh, My brother got into an accident last night, so I stayed with him at the hospital.” That was the only thing Olivia could think of.

“Hey, why didn't you call to tell me about it. You got us all worried, even Lisa here has been worried about you.” I said.


Olivia's Pov

I wanted to ask why she should be worried about me when she knew so well she had wanted to kill me. I thought it was best I lie to Davis if I really want to get Lisa.

“Oh, I'm so sorry for getting you guys worried,” I said, before walking to my room.

On getting to the top of the stairs. I met Olivia, she ran to hug me. “Where have you been? I missed you.”

“I miss you too sweetie.” I said.l, hugging her. “Come here, tell me what you've been up to.”

“Nothing really, just here by myself, my Dad doesn't have my time again.” Emily said.

I smiled. “Do t say that, Okay? He's just too busy with a lot of things lately, he will have time for you soon.”

Emily nodded, “So what did you bring for me?”

“Nothing…but I will take you out in the evening.” I said.

“Really? But will my Dad let you take me out, he doesn't want me to go anywhere outside this house.” Emily said.

“I'll talk to him about that or we can just sneak out and keep it between ourselves right?” I said.

“You shouldn't tell him, I'm sure he won't agree with you.” Emily said.

I signed. “Alright then. That's okay with me. What have you eaten?”

“I ate Indomie noodles.” Emily said, smiling.

“That's nice then, we'll be having ice cream this evening.” I said.

Thinking about Lisa and how she had acted like nothing had happened. I was ready to do whatever it took to get her.

“Should we get ready for our secret adventure now.” Emily whispered in my ears.

“Sure, we should.” I said.

She jumped as she went to get a pink cloth from her wardrobe. “I will put this on.”

“Nah, this is looking too serious, let me get you something better.” I said, walking towards her wardrobe. I brought out a pair of Jeans trousers and a shirt. “I think this will go well for our secret adventure.” I said.

We secretly left the house without anyone knowing, I could do anything to make Emily happy, Fun she wants and she will have it.

I looked around searching if we were being watched by anyone but saw no one. “So where exactly are we going?” Emily asked.

“The park should be okay.” I said, trying to see her reaction.

I called a cab and we headed to the park. On getting there, we went straight to the ice cream parlor. Emily smiled brightly as she scanned the different flavors of ice cream. “What is your favorite flavor?” I asked.

“I love Chocolate.” She exclaimed.

I got both for ourselves, I watched as Emily licked her cones. I was about to lead her to a bench in the park so we could sit but I saw Davis. His gaze was fixed on us.

“Oh my God, what is he doing here? He caught us.” I said to Emily, pointing at Davis in the distance.

“I'll tell him I forced you to bring me here, don't admit you did it on your own.” Emily said. Davis had already spotted us. “You both think you can secretly go out without my notice?” Davis asked, shouting as he moved closer.

My mind raced, I knew I was in trouble. Emily stood in front of me. “Dad, don't shout at her, you're hurting her.”

Davis kept shouting at the park. I wasn't surprised or angry at him because I knew I shouldn't have taken Emily out, but Emily turned to face Davis. “Dad, can you stop yelling, you don't have my time and now you're angry because she wanted to make me happy, you're just making a scene.” Emily said, running away from the scene, leaving Davis and her shocked by her reaction.
