Chapter 25: The Memory

Olivia's Pov

Sitting on my bed, I thought of the event of yesterday, it was a very long day. Davis had held me on my waist and danced with me. It was something I couldn't get off my head. I was lost in thought, it was just as if time had stood still. The memory kept replaying in my head. There was a connection between us that I can't ignore. I sat there, my heart still racing with different thoughts.

Just then I heard a knock on the door. It was Devis. “Are you okay? You have been in your room.” He asked.

I nodded, as I tried to find a word to say. “Not feeling too fine.” I lied.

He was about to say something when his phone rang. He quickly excused himself.
It was a female voice and the thought of that only made me feel it was the lady who sent him a message.

“He has a girlfriend, why I'm I still falling for him.” I muttered to myself.

I moved closer to my door, he was talking to the person over the phone in a low tone. “Let's meet by four in the evening then.” He said, hanging up the call. I wondered who the woman he was eager to see was. I tried pushing the thoughts away but it taunts me like a cruel joke.

I quickly rushed back to my bed, he walked back to my room and there was a hint of concern on his face. “Hey, you look a bit pale, are you sure you're okay?” He said.

I forced out a weak smile on my face, that was the only thing I could do to hide the turmoil brewing inside me. “I'll be fine.”

He looked at me trying to search for something, I quickly looked away afraid of what he might see.

“I can take you to the hospital if you don't mind.” He said.

“It's fine, I don't need to go to the hospital, I'm already used to it this way, it's nothing serious.” I said.

“Alright, I'll inform Maria to exclude you from all duties today, you need a proper rest.” He said. “What about Emily, did you check up on her this morning?”

I forgot about that, I stood up to go do that but he placed his two hands on my shoulder, placing me back on my bed. “Nah, it's fine, let me just check up on her.”

He walked out of the room and the thought of the woman he was going to meet filled my mind.

I took a short nap and when I woke up it was three o clock. I went to the bathroom, washed my face and headed down stairs. When I was about to go down, I heard him talking to Rebecca and Maria.

“I've arranged for Olivia's Care. But sir, if I should ask, why do you want us to look after her?” Maria asked.

“She’s not feeling too good, I want you to be close to her and it seems she's worried about something, you can also try to find out.” Davis said.

I stood there listening to everything they were saying. “But sir is there any need to tell Maria to take care of her?” Rebecca said.

“I have my reasons for doing that, you don't have to question me.” He said.

I wondered what reason he might have.
While I was listening to them my phone fell from my hand and they had all turned to see what was that.

“Go help her quickly.” Davis said, to Rebecca.

“But sir, she can pick that on her own.” Rebecca said, but Davis insisted she go pick it up.

I frozed with embarasment as Rebecca came to pick up the phone. I tried to pretend I wasn't eavesdropping. I walked down stairs. “Why didn't you stay up, it's obvious you aren't feeling too well.” Davis said.

“Just want to get a glass of water.” I said, trying to hide the fact that I was eavesdropping.

Rebecca rolled her eyes, she was clearly not buying my excuse.

After pouring the glass of water in the cup. I headed back upstairs to my room. But Davis called me back.

“Excuse us.” He said to Rebecca and Maria.

The both women exchanged a nervous look before scurrying out of the living room, leaving me and Davis. As I turned to face him, I tried not to maintain eye contact.

“It looks like you are troubled about something, would you like to shear.” He asked.

I knew the only thing I was worried about was the woman he was going to meet. I was jealous and I don't want him to know I have feelings for him so I have to play cool.

As I stood there, I thought back at the day I walked into the mansion, the way he received me warmly and his charming smile.

I sighed, I tried to speak but my voice cut in my throat. .

“You don't need to tell me anything if you feel you have to keep it to yourself.” Davis said.

I tried to compose myself, I cleared my throat. “I told you earlier that I'm not feeling too strong.”

The way he looked at me was as if he knew I was lying. “Don't lie to me, Olivia, I know there's something you don't want to say out but don't lie to me it's just you not being strong.”

His word sent a pang of guilt through me. My feelings for him was my problem, it's just the problem I'm trying so hard to fix. “I just feel a little left out.” I tried to sound casual.

There was a hint of surprise in Davis face. His expression changed. “Left out?”

I realized I shouldn't have said that. Davis eyes were fixed on mine, his gaze intense.

I tried to wave off what I had said. “Never mind. Davis took a step closer, “why do you think I won't mind, what do you mean?”
