Chapter 48: Emily's Missing

Davis Pov

“Why did she do that? What have you been telling her about me?” Davis asked.

“I don't know sir.” I said.

We ran after Emily. Davis held her in her hands. “I'm sorry sweetie,” Davis said.

“But what you did is not right Dad, You can't blame her, it was my decision to come here and if I had told you about it you wouldn't have let me, so I begged her not to tell you about it.” Emily said.

“I know what is best for you, you not coming out to have fun like your mate do is not what I wanted for you, I wanted you to enjoy your childhood so we'll buy I'm in a tight situation now so you have to bear with daddy.” I said, trying to convince her. “We need to leave here now.”

“No Dad, I'm not leaving, you can go without me.” Emily said.

Olivia bent before Emily. “We should go, since that's what Daddy wants.”

“I’m not a child, why can't he understand?” Emily spat.

“Listen here, you're still a child and we'll do as Daddy said.” Olivia said.

We got into the car and I drove home.

“I hate you Dad.” Emily squeezed her face as she sobbed.

“Daddy loves you.” I said.

I stopped to go get something for Emily in the supermarket. “Emily you'll wait here for us, while we go get something nice for you in there.”

We left the car and after a while we came back but Emily was not in the car, we looked round the street she was also nowhere to be found. “Why did she leave?” We got into the car, I felt a surge of panic, where could she have gone?

Olivia was also worried. “I thought she would wait for us in the car, why did she leave? She must be angry.”

I sighed. “But you know it's not my fault, A Lot has been happening and I don't want her to get hurt, just yesterday night, Lisa came back home with a broken arm, she was rubbed.”

Olivia's Pov

“Robbed?” I asked, curiously.

“Yeah, she was, and now I don't know where Emily left.” Davis said.

I could see how worried he was. “We should go back to the supermarket where we had bought these things. Maybe she has followed us.”

Davis reversed his car, we got back there but they said they didn't say Emily. Davis showed some people walking in the street Emily picture but no one has seen her.

My mind beat fast as we kept searching.

We spent what felt like hours searching for Emily, we called Maria from home asking if she had seen Emily.

“Where could she be?” I muttered, my voice low as I looked at Davis.

He kept searching the crowded sidewalk. “But what if Vincent was following us? What if he targeted that moment.”

“What do you mean by that?” Davis asked.

“Vincent, he might have seen us leaving the car and entering the supermarket.” I said.

“So are you saying he has Emily with him?” I asked, his eyes widened. “Could it be that he has been watching all this time waiting for the perfect moment to strike?” Davis muttered.

That was possible , he must have been watching. “We need to call the police, we need to start a search for Emily.” I said. Davis nodded, bringing out his phone, dialing the cobs number. As he was dialing the number different thoughts came to my mind. “What if Vincent had hurt Emily already?” I said to myself. I was becoming more scared. I knew Davis would blame me for all this. I shouldn't have brought Emily out of the house.

“911, What is your emergency?” The person over the phone asked.

After a while they arrived, sirens sound filled the air. The DPO stepped out of the car. “You called about the missing girl, Emily, right?” She asked.

“Yeah, She just vanished. We told her to wait for us in the car while we went to get something inside the supermarket, it wasn't for up to 15 minutes, we came back but couldn't find her again.” Davus explained.

The DPO called me aside. “Olivia, how far are you going in your findings about Davis?”

“Very well Ma, I haven't found anything suspicious yet.” I said.

“You should get the useful information, there isn't much time.” She said. “So the young girl missing is his child?”

“Yes, we don't know why she had left or if she was kidnapped.” I said. “But she had an argument with her father and we had left to get her something so she could be happy but when we came back to the car she wasn't there.”

The DPO, Mrs Maxwell nodded, “okay, so can you explain more in detail, what is she putting on?”

I brought out my phone, showing Emily's picture. This was her outfit. I took this picture when we were at the park today.”

“Alright, so this Vincent who was once his friend, do you think he's responsible for the missing child?” The DPO asked.

“I think he's responsible.” I replied.

“I see, we'll find out about his whereabouts but o don't think we can see his daughter any time soon because We haven't seen any trace of Vincent after he left the jail.” She said,

She had told me to find out more things about Davis. “I'm not impressed, you have no report.” She said,

They left for the search, leaving Davis and I in confusion. The way Davis responded to me was just like he knew something about my plans. I decided to push that thought away as we continued to search for Emily.

The officers had told us to go back home, leaving them to do the searching alone.

Davis drove to his mansion. He couldn't leave the car.

As soon as I left the car, I went to meet Lisa. “I hope you don't have anything to do with this.” I asked, swinging the door open.

She didn't give any reply so I walked to Rebbeca's room. “Lisa and Vincent planned this, they knew I was going to be leaving the house.”

“We need to expose her, we need to do something, we can't just sit back and watch how she destroys this family.” Rebbeca said, leaving the room. I followed her.

She had gone to confront Lisa. “Hey, lady, I don't know what you know and I don't want to know, all I want you to do now is to call who you work for to release little Emily, I'm not joking when it comes to Emily.”

Davis walked in. “You guys again, she's not feeling too well, why are you both here?”

“I have something to tell you.” Rebbeca said to Davis.

Lisa had pleaded with her eyes. “Sir, can you please excuse us for a few minutes.” Rebbeca said.

Davis left wondering what we were hiding from him. “So call him right now to release Emily.” Rebbeca threatened.

But Lisa laughed. “I won't do that, I'm not the only one with secrets in this house,” she looked at me. “Olivia, do you think I don't know you're a detective, you work for the FBI.”

Rebbeca looked at me with shock. “What is she talking about?”
