Chapter 59: Locked In

Olivia's Pov

We left the garden and headed to the living room. I had wanted to ask for Emily but she came down the stairs.

“You told me you will never leave my side and I trusted you. I guess I was wrong.” She said,

“Come on Emily, you shouldn't say that, I can explain.” I stood up to hug her but she stopped me.

“Don't do that Emily.” Davis said.

Emily's voice trembled. “No Dad, she promised me that she's going to be there for me always and I believed her, I had no idea she was lying.” I could see a drop of tears from her eyes.

“You have to listen to me Emily, you won't understand.” I said.

She turned to me. “I understand everything, my Dad told me everything, why did you do that to him?”

She ran back upstairs, I could hear her jamming her door. If only she could understand, I didn't know how best to explain to her. “She really thinks I just abandoned her like that.” I muttered.

I claimed the stairs,I pounded on her door. “Just let me explain.” I pleaded.

I could hear her sobbing, I was feeling bad already. I heard footsteps coming close. I turned to see Maria standing there.

“That's how she has been since you left.” She said,

I took a deep breath. “I guess I should leave.”

I feel I'm to be blamed, I didn't know Emily would be this angry as I left. I descended down the stairs, Davis' eyes were fixed on me. I knew I had made a mistake. The thought that Lucy, my sister, was Davis' wife and the mother of Emily filled my mind.

“She's really angry, she hasn't been herself since you left.” He said.

“I know right, I know I've failed, I had promised her that I'd be there for her but I failed to do so, but I had no choice than to leave after finding out you knew why I had come to the house to work as a maid.” I said, my eyes fixed on the floor.

I turned to leave after saying that Davis gave me all the things he had found in the murder scene, it was in a brown box.

I left after taking that from him, I expected Davis to say more than that to me, I wanted him to express his feelings to me but I feel after what I had done he doesn't trust me.

Davis Pov

After Olivia left, I walked to the empty room ordering the bodyguards to open the door. Lisa was shivering. “You bastard, let me out of here, you have no right to keep me here.” I knew I had no right, I forgot to tell Olivia about it before she left.

With the look on Lisa's face I knew she was scared. “The only way I will set you free is if I get Vincent.”

She spat on my face. I wiped it from my face, it stung. “I don't know why you want to bring me down. By all means all you need to do is tell me where Vince is and I will let you go, you can leave this country after that.” I said, even if I knew that was never gonna happen.

“Are you making a deal with me? Just kill me Davis because I'm not gonna tell you where he is.” She said,

“That's the only way you can be free, I guess you want that.” I said.

“And you think I'm a fool to believe your lies?” She asked.

“It's left to you, you can keep hiding him while you remain here.” I said.

“You will regret this Davis, I've been the one pleading with Vincent not to kill you, I just wanted to see you suffer, don't push me.” She said,

I signed. “It seems you're not scared. Well, that's a good thing.”

“Was I supposed to be scared of you? You can't kill me Davis, my parents will make sure they sue you since they know you're with me.” She said,

“Seems you don't know me, I can kill your parents too.” I said.

“All you do is exchange words with me, nothing more than that.” Lisa said.

Was she challenging me? “I see, you think you're untouchable, you think Vincent will save you this time.” I said laughing.

I fixed my gaze on her but she didn't flinch.

“Davis I've taken down a lot of people and I won't hesitate to do so to you.” she hissed.

“I see you're determined in every word you say.” She let me hit her face this time. She was pushing me. I raised my hand to hit her again but she flinched. I smiled. “I can see how scared you are.”

“Scared? Of who please.” She said, “You can hit me the way you want but it won't make me change my mind, you're just a coward who enjoys saying things he can never do.”

Her words hit me so bad. Lisa was daring me. She was saying all of that because she knew me. She knows how much I hate violence.

I placed my hands on her cheeks. “Lisa you're pushing me, I advise you just do as I say. You should stop playing with fire because you'll get burned.

“And you think I'm afraid of you?” She said, refusing to back down.

I held her hands, “we'll see about that, it will be too late then to plead for mercy.” I said.

I couldn't believe Lisa, my lover, could betray me like that. “If she misbehaves you know what to do.” I said to the bodyguards.

They nodded. “Yes sir.”

“You can't threaten me Davis, you can't control me.” She said, her voice low and husky.

“I know your secret and I'm not afraid of you.” She spat.

I laughed out loud. I knew I had no secret Lisa can use against me.

Lisa tried to struggle on her feet but it didn't work out. She knew she had underestimated me. “One thing you don't know Lisa is that you don't know me well, you think you can play me huh? And what is the secret you are talking about? I have no secret that you know or that I should be scared of.”

As I turned to leave one of the bodyguards whispered something in my ear. I stared at Lisa for a while before I left.

“Was she really pregnant?” I muttered.

I knew there was no way I could keep her that way and treat her like that because of the innocent child. I thought of what to do.

“I'll need to employ someone to take care of her while she remains there.” I muttered. All I needed to do was to furnish the empty room, making it more comfortable for her but she was never going to leave the house. I don't know what she can do if she leaves. So the best thing to do was to keep her indoors and locked in the room.

I called Rebbeca. I needed to arrange for a caregiver to attend to Lisa. “What for?” She asked.

I told her the reason and she worked towards that.
