Chapter 83: Emily's Space
Emily's Pov
Days passed by, we were in the same room but I still tried to avoid them. Doris talks too much while Rachel is always playing loud music in the room. “Dad, I don't think I can take it anymore.” I muttered.
“Come on sweetie, it's just for a few days they will be staying with you.” He said.
The house was full, I saw new faces. Everyone was present for the preparation of my dad's wedding. Everyone was filled with joy. But I still wanted my privacy. I couldn't even sleep at night peacefully. “They are just so lousy.” I muttered
“And who are you talking about?” Grandpa asked.
My grandpa was just caught up in the joy of all the family coming together.
There was no point lying. “Doris and Rachel.” I replied.
“I see, why don't you tell your Dad about changing their room.” He said.
“No Grandpa“I don't want it to be like I'm chasing them away, I want them to leave on their own.” I said.
“I see how much you love your privacy now.” Grandpa said.
Rachel was blasting her music on this very day, I had reached my breaking point. I walked angrily to the speaker and pulled the wire out of the wall. “Why can't you stop pissing me off.”
The room was quiet for a while. “What's wrong with you?” Rebecca said, angrily.
I didn't get why she should be angry but I was ready for her next action. “You are one of my problems right now. I can't take your mess and constant noise anymore.”
“Come on girls, we don't have to fight.” Doris said. The tension in the room was palpable as the room turned silent.

I overheard the conversation Emily was having with father. I knew she didn't want to stay with her cousins in her room but she didn't want to tell me.
I made sure the cleaners cleans the room so that Doris and Rachel could move in. Standing in the hallway I listened to Emily's frustrated song. I thought making the decision of her cousins staying with her was a good idea. But thinking about it i knew I was selfish, I didn’t care to consider what she wanted.
I watched as Emily stormed out of her room. I thought it was better to find a solution which will work for everyone.
I walked to the room to talk to Doris and Rebbeca. They smiled as they saw me walking in. “Hey, uncle.” Rebbeca said.
“Can I talk to you both?” I said, trying to be reasonable with them.
They nodded. “Sure.” Doris said,
“Another room was arranged for you both, so you will be moving there now. We all know Emily wants her space. Let us allow her to have her space.”
Rachel shrugged while Doris' face fell. “We can move, it's no big deal uncle.” Doris said,
I was glad they understood. I felt a wave of relief as I walked into my room. “Hey, where were you? I didn't see you in the living room.” Olivia said.
I sighed. “Emily needs her privacy so I had to tell her cousins to go to another room.”
“I knew it, I wanted to tell you about that.” Olivia said,
“I guess she didn't say a word to me because she didn't want me to feel bad.” I said, shaking my head.
“So where is she now?” Olivia asked.
“I have no idea, I saw her walking out of the room.” I said.
Olivia stood up from the chair, she walked toward the door. “Where are you going?”
“I need to talk to her.” She said,
So I watched Olivia walk out of the room. “She could help smooth things over.” I muttered.
I walked towards the chair Olivia was sitting in before she left the room. The thought of how Emily was now grown up. She wants to be independent. I thought about the days she'd tell me everything that was bothering her. “Why can't she continue that way.”

I found Emily sitting in the garden. She was so carried away that she didn't notice my presence. I tapped her on her shoulder. She was scared at first. “Hey, why are you sad?” I asked.
“It's nothing mom, I just want to be alone.” Emily said,
“I can't do that, I can't let you be alone, I need to know what is bothering you.”
Emily and I talked for a while.
“Let's forget about that for now, how I'd your wedding plans going?” Emily asked.
“Well, not bad, we will be going to the beach and alot of places before the wedding.” I said,
“I'm going with you?” I asked.
I smiled. “Of course, why not.”
I was happy to see Emily's expression changed, she was now happy. The wedding plan was a big distraction from the tension she was having earlier.
“Is Dad coming with us?” She asked.
“Nah, but Rebbeca and the other girls will be joining us. Your cousins are not excluded.” I said, rolling my eyes.
“Why do they have to go with us?” I muttered.
“No, there isn't a problem, you're going there to have fun.” I said, tapping her back.
She hugged me tightly. “I love you.”
“You know I love you too, do I have to say it?” I said, laughing.
“Of course, you have to.” Emily said.
“Your Dad and I are sorry for not realizing how you were not comfortable with your cousins, we understand you are not used to it.” I said.
“And I'm also sorry for not telling you both about it.” Emily said.
I sighed. “So your dad told them to move to another room,he just wants you to be happy so you have to stop frowning your face.”
Emily nodded. “I don't hate them, I just need my privacy, that's all.”
I rolled my eyes. “It's fine, I understand.”
I was happy that Emily and I had cleared the air and was glad she knew how her dad wanted her to always be happy. “But you should always open up, if you aren't comfortable with something, don't keep it to yourself, okay?”
Emily smiled, nodding her head, she stared at me with her brown eyes. “Alright Mom.”
I noticed something on Emily's arms. “Isn't this a tattoo?”
“Nah, it's nothing.” She said, covering it.
“Come on, I know what a tattoo looks like.” I said, I was curious. I held her hand gently, revealing the tattoo. “I wasn't wrong.” I muttered.
“When did you do this?” I asked, curiously.
“I did this in school, just something I live so I decided to try it.” Emily said.
Her mom's name was written boldly in the tattoo. That reminded me of my sister Laura. “I promise to take care of Emily.” I said, in a low tone.
“I just thought I should do this in remembrance of my mom, do you like it?” Emily said she thought I'd be mad at her for drawing a tattoo.
“I love it.” I said, taking a deep breath. “Alright, let's talk about this later, for now let's go meet your dad and tell him everything is fine, he's worried about you.”
We walked back into the house after that.
