Chapter 51: Stepping Out
Davis Pov
I met Lisa's parents. They had complained about why I had refused to get married to Lisa, since she was already carrying my child.
I sat in my lavish living room, Lisa's parents' faces were filled with disappointment. “Why have you refused to get married to our daughter after all these years?” Mr Jackson asked.
I tried to choose the word to say, taking a deep breath. “I love you daughter but not anymore.”
“You don't love her anymore? So why didn't you tell her before getting her pregnant.” he asked.
“I'm not responsible for that pregnancy.” I said, with all confidence. I could see the shock in Lisa's face.
I called for Rebbeca. She brought out all the recordings. Rebbeca took a step closer, “This is the recording. I and Olivia know all about your plans all this while but we thought of the right time to tell Davis about it. Even your plan to pass on Vincent baby as is and your plan with Vincent to kidnap Emily, we knew about it.”
Mr Jackson leaned back on his chair. “Is this true?” He asked Lisa.
“There's no evidence Dad, they should prove it.” Lisa said.
“Oh I think it will be good if your parents hear this themselves, i didn't tell Davis this just to see how far you can go.” Rebbeca said.
Rebecca played the recordings and to her surprise her voice was heard loud and clear. Lisa's parents were embarrassed and filled with shock.
“Your daughter here, plotted with her boyfriend to kidnap my child and this same boyfriend of hers is responsible for that child she's carrying.” I said.
“How did you know? That's a lie.” Lisa said.
“How do I know? Yes, you left your phone in the room, I picked up the call and I found out it was Vincent.” I said.
Lisa's expression changed. She didn't know how to defend herself in front of her parents. Her parents' eyes widened in shock.
“I can't believe you did all of this Lisa.” Lisa's mother said. Lisa tried all she could but the guilt was written all over her face.
“The only way I can be calm now is if your daughter tells me where my child is, I need an answer now.” I said.
But Lisa wasn't ready to say anything. “How dare you call us here when you know fully well this young man has nothing to do with that child in your womb.” Lisa's mother spat.
“I'm sorry mom, but I have my reasons.” Lisa said.
I raised my eyebrow. “You see, she feels she has every right to do what she did, even taking my child, you should pray nothing happens to my child, I will kill you with my bare hands.”
The room fell silent. “Get the driver ready Rebecca, Bodyguards lock these couples in the empty room until I am back.” I turned to Lisa's parents. “Sorry, but this is the only thing I could think of. If your child here doesn't take me to get my daughter, I will kill you both and I will also kill her.” I spat, angrily. “This time around I will take the life of your parents if you mess with me, you have no idea what you got yourself into.”
One of my bodyguards held Lisa, she was pushed into the car. Lisa had insisted she would follow but I told her to stay back. I was ready to get my child back no matter the cost. “Make sure you direct the driver the way to take if you still want your parents alive.” I said.
We sped through the street, I knew Lisa was very cunning, she might be taking us in the wrong direction but I don't think she will since her parents life is at stake.
We got to a lonely road and Lisa had told us to stop. “This is the place.” She said,
“Call Vincent now,” I said, giving her phone to her. But his number wasn't going through. “Did you tell him we were coming before now?” I shouted.
“No I didn't, he should be inside.” she said.
I collected the phone from her, dialing the number myself but still not reachable.
My men splinted in different places around the house. While I remained in the car with Lisa. “You won't get away with this, Vincent will kill them all.” Lisa said,
“Oh, you think my men are so weak that they can't capture one man. Let's watch and see.” I said.
I looked at her defiant eyes. It was as if she wasn't scared her parents life's were at stake.
Suddenly Vincent appeared in front of my car. “I told you, your men can do nothing to him.” Lisa said.
“Let her go.” Vincent said, but there's no way I will let that happen. I had thought Vincent had killed all my men but to my surprise they shot him in the back and leg. I watched as Vincent ran into the bushes around. One of my men held Emily as they ran into the car. “Let's leave here now.” I said to the driver.
Emily was so happy to see me. “Dad I wasn't scared, but I missed you. I told him you will come to rescue me but he said I was only dreaming.” Emily said.
I smiled, I missed my daughter, “I told you I never liked her, she was kissing that man in front of me.” Emily said, referring to Lisa. I wrapped my hands around Emily, I had been so worried that she would get hurt, but she was always smart.
“You know I'm always proud of you, I'm happy you're safe now.” I said, my voice filled with emotions. Emily hugged me tightly, smiling brightly Asher eyes shone with excitement. “I was sure you were going to come, when I told Lisa friend you will come to rescue me he only laughed.”
Emily chatted excitedly as if nothing had happened. Lisa frowned her face as she was already defeated.
Olivia's Pov
I arranged my clothes inside my box, I wasn't sure if I could stay in the house anymore. “You don't have to leave.” Maria and Rebecca said.
“There's no point staying here, I have a Job out there, I can't abandon that and continue staying here.” I said.
But Maria and Rebecca pleaded that I should just stay for a week before leaving.
I stepped out of the mansion, I was sad, I wasn't able to say goodbye to Emily. Every step I made out of the house my heart raced. I stopped a passing cab, I got into the backseat of the cab and headed to my apartment. I just had to leave, I was going to miss Emily, the thought that I won't be seeing her bright smile again was too much for me to bear.
I tried to hold the tears in my eyes but it flowed down my cheeks. The cab driver noticed and he asked if I was okay. “Yeah, I'm fine.” I said, trying to clean my tears.
As I got to my apartment, I paid the driver and got into my house. The cool breeze hit me, making my hair fall across my face.
I placed my box on the bed, the house was stuffy, I felt a sense of emptiness, the silence in this house was nothing compared to the mansion, different things had happened but it was filled with love and laughter. I gazed at my window, to my surprise Marcus drove into my apartment.
