Chapter 40: Fight of Su
Olivia's Pov
I sat on my bed unsure of what to do next, Rebbeca was not back last night and I have no idea where she went. “She must be sick and worried about how to get the money.”
I stood up from my bed, I knew Rebbeca hadn't been too nice to me but I had to do something to help her.
I went to the hospital without anyone noticing. On getting there I met Rebbeca, I told her I wanted to see the doctor. “This is the money for the surgery, you should start now and save mother's life.” I said.
“Oh my God, I can't believe you are doing this for me.” Rebbeca said, crying.
“Where have you been? You weren't in the house last night.” I said.
She started crying as I asked her that question. “Did anything happen? And why are you looking this tattered?”
“I was raped, I was raped by a guy, I don't even know him, I was drunk, I found myself on his bed when I woke up this morning, I ran out of his house when I found out where I was.” Rebbeca said.
“Tell me his address.” I said.
“Just let him be, Olivia, you've done enough already, where would I have gotten this sum of money from? I promise to pay you back.” She said,
But I wanted justice, “why will he take advantage of you because you're drunk.”
“Are you scared if confronting him?” I asked.
“Nah, just that I have a lot to worry about now than this.” she said.
“I'm not in support of that, we are going to report this, why do you want him to get away with this huh? We need to teach him a lesson.” I said, as I tried to keep my voice calm.
“Just let it go, I don't want to bother myself on that right now, it's about my mother now, I shouldn't have gone to the bar in the first place.” She said.
Just then the doctor rushed past us, “She'll be fine.” He said.
I held Rebbeca hands, “let's just hope everything turns out well.”
I was in support of her worried about her mother for that time, but I won't let that guy go scout free for having sex with her.
“Let's go home, we can't stay here till they are done, they will get back to us.” I said.
“I will stay here.” Rebbeca said.
I couldn't force her to leave, I knew how worried she was for her mother's survival. “I will stay with you then.”
“No, you have to go, Davis will be worried, I don't want you to get into any trouble because of me.” Rebbeca said,
“You don't have to worry about that, I'll stay.” we sat sat at the reception waiting for when the doctor will tell us the surgery had gone well.
“What about your dad? I remembered you mentioned something about meeting with him, how did it go?” I asked.
“It didn't go as I expected, he had said the only way he would give me the money to save my mother was if I was ready to leave my work, leave my mother and come back to him.” She smiled. “You know sometimes I feel my dad never loved my mom, he really hate her, not growing up with both of them caused a big damage in my life, it wasn't easy for me.” She said, tears rolling down her cheeks.
I sighed. “Now we paid for it, you don't need to go back to him.”
“Mother will be upset with me if she finds out I met him so he could pay her hospital bills,” Rebbeca said.
I smiled. “Nah, she should be proud of you instead, you were willing to do everything to save her life.”
“I know right.” Tears flowed down her cheeks, her body shaking with sobs.
The sterile smell of the hospital filled the air. Just then a patient who had an accident was rushed into the hospital.
“But why are you being so nice to me, I'm worried about that.” Rebbeca said.
“Don't worry, this was the best I could do.” I said, a small smile playing on my lips.
We had sat at the Reception for almost 6 hours, and we haven't heard anything from the doctor or nurses. Any doctor coming out from the ICU, Rebbeca will run to ask if her mother was okay. “I'm not the one attending to her.” Most of they said, while some ignored her.
Just then, another doctor walked out of the ICU, Rebbeca ran towards him. “Is my mom okay?”
The doctor sighed. “I'm not in the right position to tell you.”
“What do you mean by that, is she okay?” Rebbeca shouted.
“I think you should go home, her condition has become worse, we did everything we can to make it better, but we are still hoping for the best.” The doctor said.
Rebecca sat on him angrily.
She sat on the chair, sobbing. I couldn't even control her. All I could do was to wrap my hands around her, the words of the doctor hungin the air.”
“My mom needs to come out of there alive, this can't be happening.” Rebbeca cried.
I didn't know when tears dropped of my own eyes. “Rebbeca let's just go home and freshen up, we will get back to check on the new update about her health later.”
“But I need to see her before I leave again.” She said.
“Follow me.” The doctor said, his face softening.
Rebbeca walked into the ICU with the doctor while I was seated alone in the reception. All I prayed for was for the success of her mother's surgery.
I sat there for what felt like enternity before Rebbeca walked out of the ICU, I knew she had been crying because her eyes were red and puffy. The doctor walked behind her as they walked towards my direction.
I stood up, rushing towards them anticipating to hear the new update.
