“As a result, instead of being embraced for their gift they were often abused physically and if they were a female, sexually, before being abandoned nearly dead hundreds of miles from their home during a time where alphas beat trespassers first and asked questions only if they survived, which brings me to my own family history and how sanctuary packs started.”
He pauses a moment pulling his mate gently into his lap.
“My great grandmother, Rose Leroux, was the first in her family to discover that she was gifted with the ability to feel what others felt. While her family was aware of the mixing of witches and warlocks in our long lineage, her gift was unexpected and unappreciated when it was finally discovered. She didn’t tell me much about her early years. All she really remembered was spending a lot of time alone as that was the only way she could get rid of the pain that constantly flowed throughout her body.
It was during her thirteenth birthday party that she randomly approached one of her friend's mothers. She took the woman’s hand in hers and closed her eyes before whispering ‘I know why you hurt. You need to get tested for cancer.’ The woman reacted badly, jumping from her chair. She called her child to her and ran out the door. She never got tested for cancer and she died of pancreatic cancer a year later. Word got to her alpha of the incident.
Even though it was a year and half after she had made her very first diagnosis, rumors ran wild that she was a witch cursing pack members that she hated. The alpha took this rumor very seriously and requested a meeting with her. He forced her to stay with him for months while he tested and retested her abilities. After six months he concluded that she was indeed an empath but he also concluded that she was feral and was dangerous to be around the other pack members. At the tender age of fifteen he locked her into a special room inside the pack house. He claimed that it was a reeducation room where he and he alone would domesticate her wolf and would teach it to comply with his demands.
At first, outside of being bored and lonely, she didn’t find anything wrong with being in the room. She had a nice bed, a tv with a few channels and her own bathroom. He brought her food three times a day and would spend an hour with her each time she ate talking with her about the research he was doing to redomesticate her wolf. After the first month of talking the conversations turned sexual. It disturbed her greatly to hear her alpha being so crude but something about it also excited her. She often had to change her underclothes because of how her body reacted to his talk. Within a week he started telling her that only ‘the seed of the alpha can cure her.’ She tried to ask questions wanting to know what it meant but his only response at lunch was that he wouldn’t be talking with her at dinner. He would bring her food and let her eat in peace as he had to prepare himself. That there was a specific ritual that had to be performed in order for his seed to neutralize her wolf. When he delivered her dinner to her he instructed her to take a shower as soon as she was done eating. When she was dry she was to lay naked in her bed with the light off. He told her that it was okay for her to be afraid as he was going to do to her what no one else has ever done but it was imperative that she submit to him. He promised that he would go slowly but the end result would be painful as she was quite petite and he was tall and stocky. When he left she felt sick and couldn’t eat. Even though her wolf was very defiant and encouraged her not to follow his instructions all she wanted was to return to her family. While she always chose to go her own way which often defied what others wanted from her, true to the empath’s nature, she never harmed anyone.
She took her shower, dried off and laid in the bed. It was that night that he raped her for the first time but once wasn’t enough. That first night she didn’t understand what was happening and she refused to fight. He forced her into a series of tests over a five day span and told her it didn’t work. That night she fought him when he came to do it again. He beat her until she was unconscious. When she woke she was in a lot of pain with both her eyes swollen shut. She could tell that she had been freshly bathed and placed in the bed but she could feel the alpha’s presence in the room as well. She described his voice as so evil when he spoke that it sent chills through her body. He told her that by fighting his sexual advances she had disgraced the purity ritual that would rid her of her feral wolf and now the only way to cure her is to force her wolf to submit and the only way to do that with a woman is rape.
Every night for two weeks she was brutalized by him until she could no longer maintain consciousness. When she finally woke up she was in a hospital. She had no idea where she was, just what had happened to her. She became fearful when the alpha walked in. Without ever having met him she knew who he was. When she tried to run she fell as her alpha had broken both her legs. She yelped, screamed and cried in terror to the point that the nurses in the room were ready to give her a shot. Of what she didn’t know but he stopped them. He was kind and gentle when he spoke to her. Told her exactly what needed to be done and promised as soon as she was back in bed that he would back off. He wouldn’t touch her unless she wanted him to. There was something about him that calmed her. He moved slowly and emphasized communication. He needed to know if his touch hurt her in any way as he didn’t want that for her. As soon as she was in his hold she knew. Somehow when her alpha dumped her to die on another alpha’s land he dumped her into the hands of her fated mate. While he persistently claimed that her immediate need for him to hold her after she had been so brutally attacked by her own alpha was because of the bond years later she still swore that there was more to it. She claimed that her empathic abilities allowed her to sense that he was genuinely concerned about her.
It took her some time to heal but after several weeks in the hospital she was allowed to start exploring the pack house. He gave her a room next to his and while he was never harsh with her for coming into his room he did emphasize the importance of her sleeping in hers. It was a long three years living in the room next to her mate but not being allowed to have a romantic relationship with him. It was just before her eighteenth birthday that she finally managed to shift for the first time. Her mate had been working with her for over a year when she finally managed to do so. He immediately shifted and led her through the woods to his favorite lake. He shifted back to human form and encouraged her to do the same. It terrified her. As much as she had longed for the moment that he would be completely free in front of her it reminded her of what happened. She did shift and once she was human his demeanor changed dramatically. He showed her that it was okay to trust him when she’s in a physically vulnerable situation. They spent hours together by the lake. He held her close but his touch never became sexual.
It was only after her first shift that he started a romantic relationship with her. After a year he announced to his pack that she was his Luna and that they would wed during January’s wolf moon giving his mother and her omegas six months to prepare. As planned, that January, Rose Leroux married Marcus Marcellus.”
