Wednesday, October 10th Pt. 5

“It is a general rule of thumb that decent alphas follow to not implement physical punishment on gammas and omegas but the only law in place right now is that omegas and non shifting gammas do not receive that penalty. May I ask how he carried that out? How many hits did you receive?” Marie has taken over.
“Ten. He had me take my shoes and pants off after the door was shut. His security team held me down on his desk after I dropped my drawers and I received ten licks from his belt.”
“Thank you, Andrew. I’d like you to stay while we bring the other two back in.”
Alpha Whiteman’s eyes glaze over, showing him in a link with the security officers next door. Almost as soon as his eyes return to normal the door opens escorting Dallas and Richard into the room. Once they are settled back in their seats Councilman Daniel speaks next.
“We have heard Gamma Chaplin’s testimony as to what happened about an hour ago in the woods. We are willing to give both of you another opportunity to explain your involvement in this assault. If you choose not to speak than we will base your punishment on what others have seen. We would have preferred for you to have heard what Gamma Chaplin had to say but Alpha Moore was correct, your higher rank has quite the influence on him.”
Dallas chuckles lightly with the thought of him having such influence over Andrew, something I personally have never understood. Perhaps only the best of us understand the responsibility that comes with power.
“Delta Washington, one thing that Gamma Chaplin didn’t address was your involvement in the assault. Do you care to fill us in on what you were doing?” Councilman Arthur addresses Richard directly.
“Not much. Dallas was the only one that was able to get his hands on the pervert and that didn’t last long once those other two asses got involved.”
We all pause as we hear a low growl over the phone but that doesn’t do anything to curb the tension now forming in the room.
“How much of what Alpha Redmen is telling the pack about Cole do you think is true?” Amos speaks quietly.
“Does it matter? We’ve all seen the marks. Even little boys are being marked. It’s as if he’s biting them just to bite them. I’ve seen countless girls and several boys brought to the medical wing soaked in blood from the markings going too deep. If what he said about the ferality trial is true than I’m glad. He deserves to go to trial, he deserves to be found a feral and he deserves to be euthanized in the harshest way possible. Alpha Redmen should be celebrated for damn near killing him in January. I still don’t understand how he survived considering Alpha Black’s reaction to us assaulting Jamie. I would have thought he would finish him off.”
Richard pauses as I can hear Andre’s heavy breath over the phone.
“When did you see these pups with a marking in the medical wing?” Andre suddenly speaks.
“It’s been happening for years. You know that Alpha Andre.” Richard responds exasperated.
“I need you to be specific with the last time you’ve seen a child in the hospital with a marking.” Andre explains more forcefully.
“I’ve seen multiple pups all year.”
“This year?” Andre tries again to get details.
“Yes,” Richard growls. “There’s been multiple pups this year.”
“What purpose do you have with these questions?” Councilwoman Marie inquires.
“I’m sorry for the secrecy but at the moment, that is what I need.”
“Are you the reason for the split proceedings?”
“Be honest. Your answer will not change the split that has already been agreed upon.” Councilman Arthur interrupts Councilwoman Marie.
“When Alpha Moore pulled Amos aside he had a suspicion of someone being in a link with him and I encouraged Amos to be honest. I explained enough that Alpha Moore was able to conclude what I needed but even I will admit that I had no clue of the power Richard and Dallas held over Andrew. We will meet privately, Andrew, once I return.”
“I meant no disrespect….” Andrew’s voice is now panicked hearing Andre’s desire.
“Relax, Andrew. I am not my father.” He interrupts Andrew’s struggle to speak.
“Do you intend on implementing your own penalties for the assault that occurred today.” Marie asks.
“No ma’am. I am very concerned about Andrew being in the prospect program as only the strongest gammas are even allowed to participate. I would like to speak with him on a more personal level in an effort to find out why Dallas and Richard had to leave the room for him to talk.”
“Thank you, Alpha Andre. Delta Declan, is there anything you wish to add before we inform the three of you of the penalties you’ve incurred?”
Dallas doesn’t answer. Instead he sits back with a huff after a second try at crossing his arms fails.
“Very well. Alpha Whiteman, Alpha Moore. Beta Greene. Is there anything that the three of you saw that you want to add pertaining strictly to Delta Declan, Delta Washington or Gamma Chaplin?”
“I do feel it’s important to note that I did not see Gamma Chaplin actively engaged in fighting when we pulled up in the mule and out of the three named, he was the first to submit, get cuffed and placed into my security team’s mule. When a wolf commits a crime worthy of the strictest penalties, they are always cuffed for their as well as my team’s safety. The only time those cuffs come off is if the wolf shows complete cooperation and submission. Following those strict rules, for the record, I feel it’s important to note that only Gamma Chaplin’s cuffs were removed upon his arrival to the pack house. Deltas Declan and Washington simply had the position of their hands changed and Delta Declan continues his refusal to participate in the proceedings.” Winston is the first to speak.
“While I can not explain what Andrew was doing, I can second the observation that Dallas and Richard were the only ones actively fighting upon our arrival.” Michael speaks next.
“Do you have anything to add?” Daniel asks while looking at me.
“No sir. I saw the same as Alpha Whiteman and Beta Greene.” I keep my response simple as I feel we have already gotten as much information as we are going to from this group.
“Without taking the time to take this into a full fledged trial the standard penalty for the situation will apply….”
“I was told that there would be no penalties for this!” Dallas shouts interrupting Marie.
“While I will not contradict what you may have been told as it is very possible that the report we send to Alpha Redmen detailing the assault on his son will not result in any penalty from him, you are not in Red Fang territory and he has no influence on any penalties that we assess. Andrew mentioned that Alpha Redmen encouraged this attack on his own son by telling all of you that it is illegal for Alpha Cole to run from his pack. Is that true?”
She looks around the table at each one involved receiving nods from all of them.
“Just to clarify things before getting back to your punishment, while Alpha Redmen can make such a law for his pack while in his territory, again, you are not in Red Fang territory. While the council frowns upon wolves running away there are no active laws governed by the council preventing him from running from another pack’s territory. The only thing that would make him running away today illegal is if Alpha Whiteman had adopted the optional Rogue Declaration Law. Simply put, the law makes it illegal for a wolf to leave the territory of a pack that has adopted the law without declaring themselves a rogue wolf. Declaring yourself a rogue before leaving the pack is a long and complex process and the law no longer exists in over eighty percent of the packs registered with the Werewolf Committee.”
“What about assisting him in running away? Is anyone here allowed to do that? There’s a cabin a mile from Alpha Whiteman’s border. That’s where Cole was heading when we jumped him. They only found it because of the map you supplied to them.”
Dallas is finally talking but he’s not giving us the information that we’re after. Instead it’s simply a vain attempt at passing the responsibility of what happened to another.
“There are Transportation Transparency laws preventing Alpha Whiteman in directly assisting Cole in running away from his home pack.” I speak up in defense of Winston. “While I have been advocating for the removal of such laws for a long time, no one has yet to even consider changing them let alone removing them.”
“May I ask what would have happened if those laws were not in place?” Marie’s curiosity continues the conversation.
