Wednesday, October 10th Pt. 9

“I can’t tell them all that.” He speaks without being spoken to.
“It’s okay, Amos. Give us his message.” Marie encourages.
He shakes his head. “It’s not nice.”
“We won’t penalize you no matter what is said. Please, tell us his message.” Arthur also encourages.
Amos finally nods as he places his hands over his ears.
“Andre, you need to slow down and concentrate. Your distance makes this very difficult.”
It doesn’t take long for Amos to start concentrating on his link.
“He says that he can’t believe Cole was correct about the council. He’s overheard Cole tell Jamie several times that he refuses to get the council involved because it doesn’t do him any good. That they only make things worse for him.
Up until now, he simply thought that maybe his dad was paying off the local council members that came to investigate after Cole returned from each of his other runs. He truly wanted to believe that the council was formed to help wolves in bad situations like his brother is in but now he sees the truth.
You are as corrupt as his father. He can’t believe that when someone who has not only directly seen but has actively participated in the actual torture of Cole tells the council directly that Cole is in grave danger, that his father is purposely setting everything up in order to kill Cole before he has a chance to run, that the council is willing to sit on their asses and do nothing.
Yes, his father is seeking a ferality trial but the evidence submitted has been altered. It would be easy for Alpha Redmen to submit video evidence from the Big Brother security cameras to the council claiming that it’s Cole in the tape raping the women and children when it’s actually Kristoph. Alpha Redmen, Kristoph, Cole and himself all look the same. The only difference between them is height and Cole has navy blue eyes, two things that can’t be easily distinguished on a black and white camera feed in a dark room.
He has no doubts that Cole has nothing to do with the infidelity pain that he’s been feeling as Cole has not been home since January. He was sent to Blister Ridge the first of February and he’s been feeling Luna Sasha cheat on him since March.
He has seen the video that Dallas spoke of. It was horrid and sickening to see his father enjoy watching the video of this pup being forcibly raped by Kristoph. It made him physically sick to the point of running from the room as his father spoke of how much trouble this video was going to get Cole into. That there’s no way the council can charge him with murder after they see what Cole’s done. He managed to walk back into the room just enough to see the date at the bottom of the screen. He wrote it on his hand before sneaking out the back door of his father’s office.
He compared the date of the video with the notes he started keeping four years ago and he’s telling you that was one of the harsher beatings that his father put Cole through. He stayed with Cole for three days in Red General hospital as he was left comatose after that particular beating. The fourth day was Christmas Eve and Dr. Carter felt that Cole was stable enough to be returned to his room even though he was still unconscious. He and Jamie took turns watching over him with Dr. Carter making visits to his room for a week after his return. It was the first time he realized the dedication and sacrifice Jamie showed towards Cole.
He needs you to realize what it is you’re doing. That by forcing him back to Red Fang after he attempted to run from White Ridge you are giving him a death sentence without a trial. He will be handed over to Kristoph as punishment for being out of the territory for nine months when he was only authorized to be gone for six. It doesn’t matter that Alpha Redmen abandoned him here. He has already made Cole a rogue before the council could respond to the status change request and it’s impossible to predict how bad Cole’s beatings are going to get. His father told him that Cole will not survive long enough for the council to remove him from the pack. If you send him back, his death, his blood, will be on your hands.”
His voice is sad as he concludes his message from Andre. He takes several deep breaths as if he’s trying to recover from the message itself.
“You’re closer to Andre than Max is.” I speak my observation candidly.
“Does he confide in you?” Marie asks.
“He does.” He sighs as he sits back in his chair. “He’s told me quite a bit about what’s going on with Cole. His relationship with his brother is indeed very complicated.”
“Are you willing to share what he’s told you?”
“No.” He shakes his head as he looks straight at them.
“Repeating what he’s told me over the years is hearsay, not evidence and if you’re not willing to act upon what Andre has told you than breaking the confidence I was sworn to won’t do Cole or Andre any good.”
“I have two questions than I think it’s time to let you go.” I interrupt Marie before she has a chance to make a sound.
“Yes sir.”
“Why aren’t you Andre’s beta and how did he start confiding in you?”
“After the mate’s union with Sasha, Alpha Redmen told Andre that he needed to name his upper ring, that he needed a beta and a delta before the first half of the coronation ceremony could be completed. Alpha Redmen emphasized that the ones he wanted in those positions needed to get blood drawn for the birth rank test that he refuses to do on pack members at birth. He’s an old school alpha that believes rank is earned not granted by the moon goddess. Andre wanted me as his beta and Max as his delta but the blood tests came back opposite of that. Andre agreed to give Max a chance in the beta role but made certain his father understood that if Max doesn’t work out that he would pursue the council’s test for allowing me to move into that position.”
He takes a long pause before continuing into my next question.
“He started confiding in me five years ago. After he came back from California he was a mess. His mate had rejected him because his morality sucked and her father wanted nothing to do with the Redmen name. He was near a mental breakdown and after days of arguing with him that he needed to seek a counselor to talk to he said that he couldn’t seek therapy. That the information he has would destroy his parents and without his luna he would not be able to salvage the pack. Further pressuring from me opened up a dialog that I wasn’t prepared for but I have ultimately held it close. I have never once spoken of what he’s told me, not even to my fated mate. Since you are taking the stance of maintaining the council’s law despite the obvious plea that Cole will not survive much longer in this situation and you are unwilling to recognize that the ferality trial and Cole being listed as having gone rogue are simply means of legalizing Alpha Redmen’s desire to kill his own son, than I have no motivation to speak about what my Alpha has shared with me.”
I’m surprised when I see all three council members nod their heads.
“We do understand the frustration that this is causing but we are being truthful when we say it’s not something that we can act on.” Marie explains gently.
“At this time I believe we have all agreed that punishment for your involvement will not be given. A report will still be made detailing the event and each person’s involvement but the three of us do not believe in punishing those who were trying to protect someone incapable of protecting himself.” Arthur speaks while the others nod in agreement.
“I have to make several phone calls. One of which will be to Alpha Redmen. I will update the group at lunch as to the events that have occurred.” Alpha Whitemen announces as everyone stands from the table and starts working their way out the door.
