Saturday, November 24th Pt. 2
“He stumbled upon several male prospects kidnapping and assaulting a female prospect who was in heat. He tracked them down to some cabins that were created when the pack was at war with rogues who were testing the validity of the pack’s strength. Cameras are not in all the cabins but the one they used happened to have one. Alpha Black used the footage to figure out who the kidnappers were and which one struck Cole. I think he said it appeared to be a baseball bat. Everyone except Cole, my mate and I got sent home about two weeks later.”
“So the run was completely canceled? For what?”
“All hell broke loose. Even though Cole’s intervention in the cabin allowed the girl to get away, after they broke his arm, two of the three kidnappers chased after her. Three or four different males went crazy from the smell of her in heat and they all attacked and actually raped her. Cole intervened again which resulted in a brawl involving half the prospects that were still there. Alpha Black put everyone on house arrest until the council concluded their investigation.”
“It sounds like this alpha is as he’s rumored, strict and unforgiving.”
“Yes sir. He is both but surprisingly he’s also very protective and understanding. Even though I encouraged Cole to talk to him like he’s talked to the others, I was hesitant to talk to him myself about what’s been happening.”
“Protective? Really? With the rumors Dallas always shares?”
“It surprised me too dad but he told Cole that he believed his story about Luna Sasha and because of how easy it was for her to get him in trouble he initially took a neutral stance on the pedophile allegations. Cole admitted that he accidentally told Alpha Black about marking the pups. When he realized what he did he was certain he was going to get beat for it.”
“Was he?”
I’m nearly holding my breath as Jamie and I are the only ones that understand that his mark on these female pups prevent them from being hurt far worse.
“No. He claimed Alpha Black held him. Encouraged him to express the emotions he’s not allowed to have here. I’m telling you dad, he was begging Cole to stay there with him. He didn’t want Cole to come back here.”
“I believe you as it’s not just Cole that he wants.”
I hand him the letter for him to read, sighing hard as he hands it back to me when he’s finished.
“He wants all of us.”
He states as he walks away from me towards the living room.
“He offered Micayla, Cole and I sanctuary from the abuse. It’s the sole reason that he kept us behind when the others left. Micayla is the only one who accepted it. Cole didn’t change his mind until we got to White Ridge. We formulated a plan that involved me getting his laptop so he could return to Alpha Black. Unfortunately, everything done to get him back to Crimson Dawn has failed. I shared my experiences with Cole with him. When Dallas and Richard beat me, he honored Cole’s request and let us sleep together in the hospital. It really helped me to wake up in his arms.”
“I’ve never been in that situation.” I sigh as I put my hand on his, bringing his eyes back to mine. “I’ve been in plenty of fights where I ended up with two black eyes and mostly blind for a day but to be held down and pummeled? I haven’t even received that kind of punishment from Alpha Redmen.”
“Why was it as freighting to have my hands held behind my back while the two of them were attacking me as facing Alpha Redmen has been?”
“Because you have come to expect that kind of treatment from him but, unlike Cole, receiving it from you pack mates has never happened.”
“At least I have people that care about me. That I can use the link with to easily communicate where I’m at and would search for me if I disappeared. When Cole gets chained in the training room he’s truly at the mercy of Alpha Redmen letting him go as we’re the only ones that care about him.”
“Chin up Jamie. He has at least two other people trying to help him inside the pack. We just have to find a way to help him get back to Crimson Dawn.”
I shake my head as I stare at the ground.
“I really don’t think that’s the best thing to do. Helping Cole to run is incredibly dangerous for anyone involved. I can’t let you get mixed up in it. Not when I’m his beta.”
“I’ll have a better idea of what’s best after I talk to Alpha Black.”
Just as Jamie tries to speak again, Molly walks in with Cate, Britt and Jerry.
“Who’s Alpha Black?”
I wrap my arms around her waist pulling her in for a chaste kiss before laying my forehead upon hers with a gentle hum.
“Alpha Demetri Black is the head alpha of Crimson Dawn. Jamie called me a handful of times when Cole’s PTSD was triggered and Alpha Black needed a gentle way to bring him back. Jamie just found a package Alpha Black gave him that he didn’t expect to find addressed to me. A smartphone and a letter were found inside.”
I break my hold on my mate and walk back to the table picking up the letter. I hand it to her and wait for her to finish reading.
“All of us?”
I nod slowly as I take the letter back.
“I may be reading between the lines right now or perhaps I’m just desperate to get Cole out of here but based on the brief phone conversations I had with Alpha Black while Jamie was there and this letter, I believe Cole has finally found the alpha that’s both willing and capable of rescuing him.”
It’s as we finish up dinner that the phone sitting on the counter starts ringing and vibrating. It’s Jamie who approaches and picks up the phone first.
“Hello.” He speaks shortly after swiping the screen.
“Good evening Jamie. How are you making out?”
I’m surprised at how gentle and genuinely he asks.
“I’m okay alpha.” He responds with a sigh.
“Don’t lie to me.”
My breath catches in my throat, uncertain on how this alpha will react.
“I’m sorry alpha.” He sighs again. “I just don’t know what to think of what happened. I know he’s in the territory. Has been from at least the first but the connection, the way I heard him cry out for help wasn’t natural.”
“Can you sit down and talk to me about it?”
“Let’s go into the living room where everyone would be more comfortable.”
I suggest before Jamie pulls a chair back out. He nods. Looking into his eyes it’s obvious that his feelings are on full display something that no one can do around Alpha Redmen.
“I wasn’t trying to lie.” He speaks meekly as he heads for the couch.
“I know, but the reason for my call requires absolute honesty from everyone in the house and your siblings need to understand that I will call them out.”
“Yes sir.”
“Can you tell me what happened on the first to make you believe that Cole arrived back in the territory at that time?”
“It’s hard to explain.”
“Please try.”
Although I’ve spoken to this alpha several times while they were with him, this is the first time I’ve heard any alpha being so supportive and encouraging from a distance. Most alpha’s won’t engage non pack members in such a way at such a distance.
“He woke me up out of a sound sleep with his screams. I screamed myself when I felt the pain from what Kristoph was doing. I tried to link with him but he blocked it which is how I know it wasn’t the link he was using. I tried to talk to him to find out where he was but he never responded. I don’t know if he didn’t hear me over his own screams or if it didn’t go through.”
“How long did it last?”
“An hour. I think he realized he had connected with me and somehow cut it off.”
“Or he lost consciousness. Were you able to get any information from the sound of what was going on?”
“He just kept begging Kristoph to stop hurting him.”
