Wednesday, October 10th Pt. 4

I’m impressed by the young leader’s ability to ‘play the part’.
“He is correct, Delta Declan, as the coronated next in line, Alpha Andre Redmen is allowed to attend the meeting in Alpha Charles Redmen’s place.”
Councilman Daniel backs Andre’s explanation effectively shutting down Dallas’s argument about him being here. He sits back with a deep growl while Andre remains silent.
“For the record, where are you located, Alpha Redmen?” Councilman Arthur requests.
“I am currently located at Blister Ridge. I’ve been on a business assignment for the last nine months and I’m expected to return to Red Fang a week before Thanksgiving.”
“Thank you. Now to prevent confusion I would like to make a record that only Alpha Charles Redmen is to be referred to as Alpha Redmen. Alpha Andre and the individual that was attacked this morning, Alpha Cole, will be referred to by their title and first name.”
“We agree.” Several of us respond to his declaration.
“Normally, Alpha Whiteman would lead this meeting but I must make a request to change it. I need to take the lead due to special circumstances that at the moment, only I know about.”
“You know that’s not the way this works, Alpha Moore. The presence of Beta Greene, you and myself are simply formalities of the discipline practices at this pack.”
“Then I need to request a change in the way it’s done.” I respond to Alpha Whiteman’s denial.
“What do you need?” Councilwoman Marie asks.
“I need the proceedings split. I saw and heard in the field something that I feel warrants a different approach to the standard. Delta Declan, Delta Washington and Gamma Chaplin need to go first, receive their sentence based on what is said and the evidence known then be released back to their rooms. I’m requesting privacy for Beta Stevens and Delta Andrews.”
“Why do you feel the need for privacy for just those two and not all five?” Councilman Daniel asks.
“I don’t believe we will get the entire truth of the situation if they feel threatened by repercussions from Alpha Redmen.”
All three of the council personnel look at me, judging the sincerity of my concern.
“I’m willing to second that motion.” Councilwoman Marie is the first to speak. “So let’s get started.”
“While the expectation is for you to speak one at a time, the goal of this meeting is to understand what you were ordered to do and what you actually did.” Arthur starts off.
“I’m not saying anything.” Dallas proclaims before sitting back in his seat.
He struggles for a minute, obviously wanting to cross his arms but gives up when the cuffs around his wrists won’t cooperate. Richard follows suit, sitting back silently without a word. I watch the three of them silently, waiting for the council’s next move with the uncooperative duo. I can tell that Andrew is caught in a difficult situation as he appears to want to talk but the presence of the higher levels are obviously making him hesitant. I wait several minutes for anyone to say something before acting.
“I would like to have Deltas Declan and Washington moved next door. It’s obvious that they don’t intend on talking and it’s holding Gamma Chaplin from doing so.”
Andrew looks quickly my way. His eyes are wide and fearful from me calling out what I see. The security officers that brought the two in, immediately leave their position behind them. Placing their hands on their shoulders, they speak lowly to each of them before they stand and leave their seats, following the security officers out the door.
“Now that Dallas and Richard have been removed, are you willing to talk to us Andrew?”
He nods his head without looking up from the spot he’s staring at on the table.
“Very well. Let’s begin with what happened out in the woods this morning.” Councilwoman Marie gets straight to work.
“We were notified Monday that all of Red Fang would be leaving Friday. We knew that Cole would attempt to run and the best time for him to do so is early in the morning. The three of us have been taking turns watching at the edge of the woods for him to leave. It was Dallas who watched and alerted Richard and I tonight.”
“Keep going. What happened after you were alerted to Alpha Cole attempting to run before the rest of the pack returned home?” Councilman Daniel encourages.
“As we had already planned, Richard and I met Dallas at the edge of the woods and followed behind Cole. Tonight the breeze was on our side as it was blowing away from Cole instead of towards him like other nights that we’ve tried to trail him. We stayed in the trees until he was distracted by drinking water from the lake. That’s when we surrounded him.”
“What happened after that?” Arthur is next to speak, taking turns as they’ve been trained to do.
“He took off into the woods. We followed him until he collapsed, as Dallas expected, Cole’s asthma didn’t allow him to get far. Dallas and Cole started talking. Cole begged Dallas to let him go. That he wasn’t the monster his father makes him out to be. That he wasn’t raping Andre’s luna. Dallas ranted about how he doesn’t care if he’s doing the same thing as all the he wolves in the pack. His issue is the video of Cole raping a twelve year old girl. From what I could see, Cole appeared horrified and shocked. He backed away from Dallas until he tripped over a tree branch and fell on his ass. Something about the fall made him unable to get back up. Amos spoke up about simply dragging Cole back to the pack house. That it wasn’t right to beat him when he can’t fight back. Amos mentioned Alpha Redmen not supporting the attack when Cole can’t fight back but that didn’t matter to Dallas. He walked right up to Cole while Cole and Amos begged him to reconsider and just started kicking him in the face.”
“What were you doing while this was happening?” Marie has taken in a gentler tone to match the obvious sadness Andrew is displaying.
“I was trying to make sense of what Cole had said about both him and Dallas being blackmailed. About Alpha Redmen trying to make Cole feral. Amos said that alpha males ruled feral are euthanized within months of the ruling. Is that true? That you would kill Cole if he were to be listed as a feral?”
He’s truly shocked and obviously struggling with what’s happened this morning.
“We can not speak with you about the process of getting a ferality trial or if Cole is involved in one but yes, an alpha male being ruled feral during such a trial usually does result in the death of the wolf.” Marie explains gently. “Is there anything else you want to add to this meeting?”
“I never touched Cole. I didn’t help him, Amos and Maximus did that, but I didn’t hurt him. I was too busy trying to make sense of their conversation to move.”
“How did you know about Alpha Cole’s plan to run?” Alpha Whiteman shocks all of us as he rarely asks questions in these meetings.
“We didn’t. Alpha Redmen called the three of us into his office after we went through orientation. He told us that we were going to White Ridge, a pack new to the prospect program and that his son needed to be taught a lesson on contemplating using the program to run away from his problems. He didn’t even know if Cole would leave Crimson Dawn but if he did Alpha Redmen had a plan to make certain Cole never used the program to leave the pack again. We didn’t receive any additional instructions until six weeks ago.”
“What were your instructions?” I ask in an effort to keep him going.
“He used the link to explain that after he’s tortured Cole for the last six weeks that his weight loss should leave him weak enough for us to handle with minimal threat of serious injury especially since he was having five of us go after him. He told us that his pack law makes it illegal for him to run without getting approval from the council to go rogue and the most recent video that he’s obtained from Big Brother makes it impossible to obtain such approval. The penalty for running is getting your ass kicked by border patrol before your bare ass has several uncomfortable meetings in his office. Since he wasn’t home, getting the five prospects that have shown the most willingness to attack him to take the place of his border patrol was what he needed. He emphasized that we needed to wait until he actually tried to run because attacking him before that would result in us being penalized for assault. That’s a penalty that, after Alpha Black punished me for it, I don’t want round two on.”
“Who did you assault at the Crimson Dawn pack?” I can’t help but ask.
“I restrained Jamie while Dallas and Richard beat him.” He admits meekly. “They told me that physical punishment could not be implemented on a gamma. Alpha Black didn’t follow that rule.”
