Wednesday, October 10th Pt.3

“Why would your father risk destroying the pack just to turn you over to the council?”
“Haven’t you heard, Dallas or was that one of the days you skipped school?”
I’m shocked at the tone Amos is using considering he’s my brother’s delta.
“What?” Dallas snarls back.
“Feral alpha males are euthanized within months of their conviction. What do you have to lose by letting him go?”
For a moment it actually feels like Amos is trying to defend me without putting his hands on Dallas. I relax my arms in the slim hope that maybe Amos will get through to him where I can’t. Suddenly a foot connects with my face, forcing my entire body backwards as I yelp and scream in pain. I have no concept of what’s going on around me as chaos breaks loose. I take several more hits to my face before I’m able to force my body to function enough to roll out of the way. While my legs may be working better it’s not enough for me to physically get up and run for the cabin. I curl into a tight ball, covering my face, ears and head the best I can as the fight rages on.
What was supposed to be a beat down of me has turned into a brawl between Dallas, Richard and Andrew fighting my brother’s crew; his beta Maximus and delta Amos.
“Submit!”
A big booming voice is heard easily over the commotion followed shortly after by his alpha aura. I can’t help but yelp and scream as it hits me, slowly quieting only as I feel the effects of multiple blows to my head pulling me into unconsciousness.

(Dr. Andrew Moore POV)
I couldn’t believe my ears when Jamie came pounding at my door. I roll towards my right, opening my eyes just enough to see 5am.
“Dr. Moore. It’s gone wrong, terribly wrong. His father knows he’s trying to run.”
He shouts through the door as I slip into a shirt and pants. I slide my feet into my shoes as I open the door.
“Walk with me.”
I state quickly as I hurry out of my room forming a link.
‘Alpha Whiteman. I’m sorry for the early hour but I need you up.’
I state calmly but firmly. I can hear him groan but I know he’ll be up by the time I get out the door. I stop at beta Michael’s room, rapping loudly on his door before twisting the knob and pushing it open.
“He tends to sleep in the nude so you may want to stay here unless that doesn’t bother you.” I explain before stepping inside.
“We’ve got an issue. I need you dressed in a hurry.”
He gives me a groan before sitting up. The sheet falling from his body exposes the back of the lady he brought home that night. She’s clad in a simple white cami and briefs while, to my surprise, Mike is decent with a pair of boxers.
I watch him silently adjust the sheet so she is fully covered before slipping into the nearest pair of pants he gets his hands on.
“What?” He asks in a yawn as I raise a brow.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been in here and seen a lady dressed while sleeping in your bed.”
“You know I won’t have sex after they’ve been drinking.”
I cock my head curious as to what’s going on with him.
“Plus, she’s in a bad place right now.”
“Trauma?” I ask simply, trying not to take up too much time.
“She’s my mate.” He whispers as he throws his shirt over his head. “She ran into me as I left the bar. I don’t smell her wolf but somehow she knows enough about werewolves that she understands that I’m her mate. I think that’s the only reason she got in my car. Now, enough about me, why do you have me up and dressed so damn early?”
“Come, we’re meeting Alpha Whiteman just outside the door.”
We make our way out of the house to find Winston driving towards us in the predawn morning.
“Jamie, now that we’re all together, what’s going on?”
I ask as we pile into the extended mule.
“Cole ran this morning only Alpha Redmen suspected that he would and got others from our pack to intercept him. He linked me twenty minutes ago saying that he wasn’t going to make it to the cabin. That it’s five against one.”
Just as he finishes we can easily hear the yelps of a brawl echoing through the woods.
“Did he say where on the trail towards the cabin he was?”
Winston asks as the mule revs and starts moving towards the woods.
“No sir. He’s been traveling for about an hour and a half so he’s close to the clearing with the pond.”
“You know where he’s at based on the time he’s been traveling?”
Winston sounds impressed with Jamie’s skills.
“We’ve been to the cabin several times memorizing the path for getting there. How did you know to get the mule?” Jamie asks what I didn’t think of.
“Border patrol alerted me to someone being in the woods. I encouraged your plans so I knew that he would attempt his hike in the early morning hours and told them so. They alerted me that five more were there less than five minutes after Dr. Moore woke me up.”
He explains as he drives quickly towards the clearing. To my horror, we get there in time to see Cole struggling to gain strength in his legs. We all rush out of the mule as Alpha Whiteman parks it in the middle of the trail.
“Submit!”
His voice echoes off the surrounding trees causing Cole to yelp and scream. I hurry to his side, Jamie right beside me, kneeling down in the leaves where he’s managed to roll out of the way of the ongoing fight.
I pet his head roughly trying to get a response out of his suddenly quiet and limp body. With what little light is present I can tell that he’s taken several hits to his head but I’m lost as to the sudden weakness I saw in his legs.
I look up at the ongoing fight in the clearing. To my surprise it appears that two of the wolves are trying to keep the other three away from the woods that Cole has sought shelter in. Is it possible that two of the five came out to protect Cole? Something I’ll be certain to bring up to the council when Alpha Whiteman brings this attack to the council members living here.
It doesn’t take long for the combination of Alpha Whiteman and his border patrol to secure the three wolves most desperate to get their hands on Cole. I’m in shock as the ambulance loads Cole into the back, as to how wrong this went. What’s even more shocking is how quickly two of the wolves, the same ones that seemed to be protecting Cole, moved into the tree line in front of Cole and submitted without anyone ever putting their hands on them. They walk easily towards the mule once the security team takes the other three to the pack house in handcuffs.
“Andre’s going to be very upset when he finds out his brother is in hospital again.”
I follow the two slowly to the back of the mule as Jamie hops into the back of the ambulance.
“No he’s not but what were we to do? It was three against two after he fell on his ass.”
“Did Andre mention his back being messed up?”
“No but he’s not going to accept the fact that the pack’s future beta and delta couldn’t protect his brother from two deltas and a gamma.”
“His brother is an alpha just like him. Why the hell is he having us protect the perv that’s raping his Luna and going after little kids?”
“You know he’s leaving a lot of information out when he gives us these instructions, Max. Why would he contradict Alpha Redmen without a justifiable cause?”
“I don’t know but I’m going to have a lot of words with Andre if my tail gets beat for defending a wolf I would have preferred to have been beating.”
The two of them quiet once they are within hearing range of Alpha Whiteman. I guess they forgot that whispering around any wolf can be heard from a decent distance.
