“I was six months late shifting and the first heat normally happens six months after that but mine occurred a year before I shifted. I was fifteen and a half when I experienced my first heat. Alpha Tristan took full advantage of my desires during that time. He took an unplanned vacation and removed me from the territory. He put us up in a hotel an hour away. If I remember correctly I wanted sex constantly despite the pain I was in and as long as he could get an erection he gave it to me. My second one happened a year later so I was away from him by the time it occurred. I had managed to work a variety of jobs and manage the money given to me well enough that I was living in a hotel room when it hit. Unlike my first one, it was every bit as painful as it is now. It crippled me. For three days I could barely get out of bed to use the bathroom. It eased up enough for me to function by the fourth day but I was still unable to leave the room. I ended up losing the job I had at the time so when I felt well enough to travel I packed up and started on my way.”
“When you first got here you said that you had been raped by four packs, did you include your birth pack in that count?”
“Amber ridge wasn’t my birth pack. My mom originated from the Stone Valley pack. She is the great granddaughter of Alpha Archer Stoneman. I don’t remember living there because I was an infant when rogues infiltrated the pack. My mother knew something was going on but didn’t have the information she needed to know what it was. Something told her to leave, so she did. A week after she left the pack she received word that the entire pack had been killed. Her and I were the last of the Stoneman name. She stumbled upon her second chance mate, Arnold Reynolds while working as a waitress just outside the Amber Ridge pack. They dated for a year before we moved in with them. My stepfather is the only one I ever knew. Even though my mom was an alpha her second chance mate was a delta. They never had any kids together but mom believed that Diana wanted her to have a quiet existence by matching her to him. He was a respectful man and treated both of us with love and kindness. I very much miss them. I’m sorry. I seem to have forgotten your question.” She apologizes.
“Did you include Amber Ridge as one of the four packs that raped you?” He asks it slightly differently.
“Yes. The alpha of Amber Ridge; the Alpha, his son, and several border patrolmen at Red Fang; the beta of Blue Grove; a temporary alpha and the actual alpha of Purple Mountain.”
“Okay. How old were you when you got involved with the Red Fang pack?”
He asks the question that I fear the most, her time at my pack, the place I instinctively fear more than the hospital.
“I was seventeen when I lived at the Red Fang pack for about six months. I smelled my fated mate when I walked into an exam room in the medical wing. I mistook your brother Kristoph as being the one I was smelling. I never saw you while I was there, Cole. How your scent was in that room when I walked in with Kristoph sitting on the exam table I don’t know. I had just finished a hybrid program that gave me both my high school diploma and CNA credentials. Alpha Redmen hired me on a trial basis for keeping up stock in the wing and minor nursing duties. It wasn’t until I was alone with him that I realized his scent wasn’t my mate. By that time it was too late.”
“How did you get out?” My voice quivers with the question.
“Your father got rid of me.”
She states simply but it’s too simple which causes me confusion.
“Cole, looks confused. Can you get more detailed while keeping it simple. You have calmed down nicely and I’d like to keep your stress down.”
I can feel her nod even though I can’t see her face.
“As I mentioned, I was sixteen when Atlas got me out of the hands of Alpha Tristan. I somehow found my way to a youth group home for homeless teens that doubled as a boarding school about a month later. I could tell they were human so I hid the fact that I was a werewolf but still told them bits of what happened which qualified me to stay there. Despite being pulled out of high school when my parents died I was able to not only complete high school but gain a CNA certification within a year of starting there. Once I graduated I moved out.
I started wandering the streets until I accidentally came across the Red Fang pack. My cooperation with the border patrol granted me a meeting with Alpha Redmen. After going over my education he decided to hire me on a trial basis for six months. During that time I got tangled up with Kristoph and tried to report him raping me to his father. Unfortunately that resulted in Alpha Redmen using reports from the other nurses to claim that I was an empath and a feral. It was the first time I had heard the two equated to each other.
I begged him to let me leave three months early but he forced me to stay. He forced me onto silver injections for two months before declaring that they weren’t working and forced me to withdraw. It was while I was in withdrawal as well as heat that he and Kristoph took advantage of my weakened condition beating me and raping me before dumping me in the woods. Before I made it to the border to leave his border patrol got to me and did the same as Alpha Redmen and Kristoph. I woke up at White General a few days later.”
She holds it together surprisingly well for the amount of trauma I know my father caused her.
“If you’re willing to accept a shot from me I do have enough information to rule that you likely do have HSD and qualify for hormone blocking medication. In humans it is commonly used to aid in the treatment of breast cancer but it was found when used in adult female werewolves at twice the level given to humans it will temporarily reverse the effects of HSD.”
“What are the side effects?” She asks.
I am grateful she seems interested in trying it.
“The most common are joint pain and feeling tired. It would last approximately thirty-six hours which should be enough to get you packed up and on the road.”
“You want us to leave?”
She sounds hurt by the idea even though she has expressed fear in staying here.
“The trauma you have experienced mixed with the pain of having HSD will make being here very difficult for both of you. Leaving ten days early isn’t going to affect anything that’s planned.”
“If you want to stay you can. I’m not kicking you out but Cole has already had several panic attacks related to you being in heat so we feel that leaving early is in both of your best interests.” Cassius finishes up.
“I would like to try the medication.” She nods slowly as she speaks.
“Thank you for trusting me with it. I know shots are hard for you. Unfortunately, this medication is heavily restricted so I have to leave and go to the wing.”
She shifts uncomfortably as I have no doubts that he’s slowly releasing the pain he took from her back.
“Cass, you need to join me.” He states as he stands.
“Yes sir.” He stands as well as they both head to the door.
