Wednesday, October 24th Pt.3

“Dad took the belt, hit me with my clothes on until I collapsed from the pain before picking me up and tying me to his chair. He talked while he worked which is how I found out that Kris’s belting would be his age four times. Dad wanted him to feel this one. I begged for him not to as I had known for a long time what that meant. Kris took fifteen more with his clothes on before receiving thirty without. First round was with clothes from me. Second round was the loop end from dad. He was whimpering by the time dad stopped but he didn’t fight until dad pulled his pants down. He then received his age first with the loop end then with the buckle end. He stopped abusing me. Started acting as if I didn’t exist until I turned fifteen. It was three years later when dad started consulting him on punishments and scheduling time to give me to him.”
“What has he done to you?”
I whisper in complete shock as to what he’s shared with me. He has never gone in depth like that before.
“I’ve already told you too much.”
His voice is now a mere whisper as he returns to being submissive even towards me.
“You will wait until I contact you to come to me. You will not tangle with Kristoph.”
“How are you so certain that Kristoph will do to me what he’s done to you?”
I can’t help but ask my final question before granting his desire to let go of the conversation.
“Kristoph is a feral wolf. He’s a depraved individual who honors no boundaries. My only consolation on dad requesting the ferality trial is that he too will be investigated. My hope is that the council will see Kris for who he is, a dangerous wolf that needs to be locked away. Now, you need to go get lunch. I don’t think whoever is coming to get us will be understanding of two grown men throwing up on the bus.”
“Yes sir.” I submit to his desire to stop talking as I’m certain it will only make packing his clothing that much harder. “Would you like me to bring you some tea or something sweet to drink? I know you don’t like sweet stuff that much but with you being back to barely eating you need something with a little sugar in it.”
“If they have the bottled tea out you can bring one.”
At least he agreed to something. I walk to the other side of the bed where he sits, touching him gently on his shoulder. He looks up at me before he speaks.
“Step back please.”
I step away as he requests. I step back again as he stands from the bed, pulling me into a hug that I didn’t expect but embrace all the same.
“Please, Jamie. Promise to follow my command. You will not tangle with Kristoph. I have allowed you to intervene with Alpha Redmen for two years and it has cost you dearly. You don’t know what Kris is capable of.”
“What do you mean by your statement?”
He steps back and studying me closely, confusion in his eyes.
“You said you don’t want me to become Kristoph’s bitch. That’s nothing I have ever heard you say before but I can tell that it’s a very real fear. I have heard that statement before from others but it has multiple meanings. Can you clarify what you mean by it?”
I know I’m pushing him when he steps out of the hug, his eyes cast downward as he shakes his head.
“That’s okay. I’ll be back in an hour to finish up my own packing. I’ll grab a drink and a light snack to bring back so you’ll have a little something on your stomach before we leave.”
He nods with a quiet thank you as I walk out of the room.
I navigate Dr. Moore’s house easily before exiting the side door, moving west towards their dining hall. I grab a plate as soon as I enter the building, finding the smell of chargrilled cheeseburgers and hotdogs absolutely mouthwatering. Despite the growl of my stomach and the delectable smell of the food, I keep my plate small as what Cole has said is very disturbing.
‘Dad? Are you busy? I need to talk.’
I reach out to the only father I’ve ever known as I sit alone at one of the tables.
‘What’s wrong, Jamie? You don’t sound good.’ To my relief he responds.
‘It’s Cole dad. He opened up to me a little about Kristoph and something he said just isn’t sitting well with me.’
‘A lot of what Cole has endured is disturbing. Talk me through what you’ve got going on.’
‘He fears Kristoph more than his dad. Said that when he gets home his father is giving him to Kristoph for three days. When I said I would come find him and get him out of there he commanded me not to. He told me that he would not let me become Kristoph’s bitch. While the statement has many meanings I can only think of one that this context could be.’
‘Do you think that when he’s alone with Kristoph that he’s been sexually assaulted?’ He hits the nail right on the head.
‘What else could it mean?’ I whisper through the link.
I can hear him sigh through the link with a long pause as I slowly start eating the food in front of me.
‘The last thing Cole needs to deal with is a sexual assault by his brother but if he feels strongly enough against you intervening that he’s given you a direct command I feel you should honor it.’
‘But dad…..’ I whisper without finishing.
‘I know it’s hard but if you are indeed his fated beta then you need to be able to trust his decisions. If tangling with Kristoph is that dangerous then it would be best for you to stay out of it. You getting hurt will only add to Cole’s pain.’
‘I don’t know that I can stay away.’ I’m nearing tears as I confess my struggles.
‘Take everything one step at a time. Do you think there’s any way that Cole won’t leave White Ridge this afternoon?’
‘The council has taken notice of Cole after he attempted to run but Alpha Whiteman has stayed pretty tight-lipped on any additional information. It’s as if he knows something that he doesn’t want Cole and I to know about.’
‘What about Alpha Black. It sounded like you liked him a lot and that he had taken notice of you and Cole. He seemed very concerned about Cole when he called. He didn’t offer you or Cole sanctuary?’
‘He did.’
‘Why didn’t either of you take it?’
‘It’s hard to explain and I know Cole is regretting it.’
I glance down at my watch and find that it’s 12:30 already.
‘I’m sorry. As much as I don’t want to be alone I’ve got to get back to Cole. It would be easy for him to get nowhere with packing.’
‘Keep me updated and I’ll see you this evening.’
We let go of the link at the same time as I stand and clear my plate, throwing everything in the garbage as I pass by. I step back into the line, grabbing Cole a hotdog on a bun and two ketchup packs, quickly wrapping them in a napkin before grabbing a sweet tea from the cooler. I know it’s heavier than he would like but he needs to eat something.
I make my way quickly back to Dr. Moore’s home. As persistent as I was in getting Cole up I have barely started to pack my own stuff. The most I have done is get all the extra bags Alpha Black gave us out of the apartment we never stayed in last night. The stuff we actually used over the last three months is still stored in the closet and dressers inside the room.
Heading back to Dr. Moore’s home I’m hoping that Cole managed to get something done as the bus’s arrival at 2pm is quickly approaching. It’s only as I enter the house that my heart falls to the pit of my stomach. The yelps and screams coming from the back bedrooms of the home are terrifying as I run towards them. I place the food and drink on the first dresser I come to before following the sound to the bathroom. I enter just in time to see Cole fall over from a sitting position against the tub.
“Cole!” I shout as I catch his body before he hits his head on the tiled floor.
“Cole!” I try again but it’s of no use.
“Dr. Moore, get in here! He’s having a seizure!”
