Chapter 101 Do You Know the Consequences?

This string of ruby necklaces immediately grabbed Fergus's attention.

And honestly, it grabbed everyone else's too!

Sure, the tiara was cool and all, but the ruby necklace? That was something you could actually wear, and even if you didn't, it would only go up in value. A real collector's item!

"Ninety million dollars!"

"One hundred million dollars!"

"One hundred and twenty million dollars!"

The room exploded into a bidding frenzy, paddles flying up left and right. In no time, the price shot up to two hundred million dollars, blowing past the tiara's earlier price.

"Two hundred and fifty million dollars!" Mr. Fisher gritted his teeth as he made his bid. He was dead set on redeeming himself after his earlier loss. Sure, the price was steep, but he figured he could use the necklace as collateral for a bank loan and get at least half of it back. No big crisis there!

He turned to the lady next to him and said, "On our wedding day, you'll wear the wedding dress and this ruby necklace."

She batted her eyelashes sweetly. "Darling, you're the best; I love you the most."

Then she shot Fergus a nasty look, as if to say, "You might have snagged the tiara, but can you get this too?"

"Five hundred million dollars!" Fergus said calmly. He knew small bids were pointless, so he decided to go big and save everyone some time.

The room went silent.

Five hundred million dollars?

That was double the last bid!

Everyone stared at Fergus, trying to figure out who this guy was.

Jennifer was just as puzzled. She'd never seen him before, and even among the rich folks in the neighboring Silvervale State, there was no one like him. Where did he come from?

The lady was fuming, her eyes wide with anger. "Darling, he's doing this on purpose to mess with us. We can't let this slide!"

Mr. Fisher slapped her hard, furious. "Do you think I didn't know you're provoking me on purpose?"

She looked hurt. "Shouldn't I say that? This is Golden Valley City, are we really afraid of an outsider?"

Mr. Fisher was shaking with anger. "Idiot, he just bought two items worth almost half of my assets. Do you think we shouldn't be afraid? How did I ever fancy you? Get out now!"

She choked back her tears and admitted, "Darling, I was wrong."

Mr. Fisher roared, "Wrong or not, I need to cut my losses. Leave now, or I'll break your legs!"

She left, trembling.

Fergus shook his head, speechless. He didn't mean to ruin a relationship, but he didn't feel too bad. They weren't married yet, so it wasn't like he was breaking up a family.

Meanwhile, Fergus was also catching attention of people in the private boxes.

In the left-side box, a middle-aged man in a suit, radiating authority, sat upright on the sofa. He was clearly someone important.

He asked calmly, "Whose kid is he? I've never seen him before."

'To throw around seven hundred million dollars in cash, his family must have assets of at least ten billion. And with that kind of money, he'd be a well-known figure in Mountain State, someone I would've heard of,' the man thought

Opposite him sat a woman in a dark blue dress, her lips a striking red, swirling a glass of red wine. Her presence was just as commanding as the man's.

She said casually, "I haven't seen him either, but I do recognize the guy next to him. He seems to be an apprentice of Master Dusk, named Paul."

"Master Dusk?" The middle-aged man was surprised, then smiled. "Interesting."

In the right-side box, there were also guests today!

"Who is this guy? How is he more arrogant than me?" The speaker was a young dude in his twenties, rocking some sportswear and lounging on the sofa with his legs crossed. A lady from Treasure Pavilion was kneeling in front of him, serving him.

Across from him sat an elderly man with gray hair but a lively spirit. This old man was none other than Master Dusk!

Master Dusk said, "He looks unfamiliar, I don't recognize him."

Then he added, "But the guy sitting next to him is my apprentice Paul, so he might be Paul's friend."

The young man was taken aback, then laughed, "Since he's Paul's friend, he's your guy, and your guy is my guy. In that case, he does have the right to be arrogant. I'll let it slide."

Master Dusk smiled.

In the hall, Jennifer continued, "This ruby necklace is a rare treasure. Isn't anyone tempted? Maybe after a few more rounds, it could be yours. You could give it to the woman you love and walk through life together."

The room was dead silent.

With five hundred million dollars, they could find women for a lifetime and never repeat. Giving it to one person was too much of a loss, and besides, they really couldn't afford it!

Seeing no one speaking, Jennifer raised her gavel and made the final call, "Then let's congratulate this gentleman once again on acquiring this treasure!"

Applause filled the room, and everyone looked at Fergus, nodding and smiling, hoping to make a connection that might help in future business dealings.

Fergus responded with a smile.

Jennifer directed the staff to deliver the necklace, then smiled and asked, "Sir, you have acquired two treasures in a row, which is rare in Treasure Pavilion. I still don't know your name. May I ask?"

Everyone looked on expectantly.

Fergus didn't hide it and said casually, "Fergus Yost!"

Fergus?

Hearing this name, everyone looked at each other, feeling unfamiliar. Not just in Golden Valley City, but even in the state capital, there was no family named Yost. Could he be from another state?

Suddenly someone said, "Is he Fergus from Tarynville as Ms. Gray's partner?"

With this reminder, everyone remembered that there was a guy named Fergus in Tarynville who had been favored by Ms. Gray and had risen from a nobody to a big shot!

Although they hadn't seen him, they had heard the name.

"So it's Mr. Yost."

"Mr. Yost, I have business dealings with Hayden from Tarynville. We are good partners."

"Mr. Yost is indeed as impressive as the rumors say, a true hero among men."

People around greeted him. Although Fergus was just an employee, the person behind him was powerful. The Gray Family was one of the top families in the country. Even if Ms. Gray couldn't fully represent the Gray Family, she wasn't someone a small-town figure could mess with.

Fergus smiled, "We can collaborate in the future. I'll be waiting for you in Tarynville."

He had no interest in doing business, but Violet did, so he was helping her attract business.

Suddenly, a cold laugh came from the crowd. It was Mr. Fisher, who stood up and said, "I thought he's some wealthy heir, but he's just a beggar. And you all are trying to curry favor with him? Let me tell you, you're wrong!"

He continued, "Fergus failed to assassinate Ms. Gray and was kicked out of the Gray Group. The Gray Group's partner has now become Tyler from the new rich Shaw Family in Tarynville. Now, he's just a pariah! He fled from Tarynville and ended up here!"

Everyone was shocked. "What?"

"What?" Fergus was also shocked. The partner had become Tyler, that jerk? How could he be worthy? It seemed he needed to have a talk with Tyler when he got back.

Mr. Fisher snorted coldly, looking at Fergus with a sinister smile, "You jerk, you came to the auction to show off and almost fooled us. Now I'm very angry. Do you know the consequences of making me angry?"
