Chapter 50 Marriage Alliance
"John!"
Violet's face looked grim as she warned, "Watch your mouth. Fergus is with me. What are you doing in Tarynville? Speak up and leave once you're done!"
John didn't care about her coldness and smiled, "Ms. Gray, we've known each other for so many years, and you're scolding me for an outsider? That really breaks my heart."
Although he called her Ms. Gray, his expression showed no respect; even a bit of flippancy.
He then looked at Fergus with contempt and said, "Jerk, since Ms. Gray asked, I'll be honest. I came to Tarynville for one thing:;to kick you out."
"Today, because Ms. Gray is here, I won't touch you!"
"But be careful when you go out in the future. Accidents and muggers can happen to the unfortunate."
If it were just about Fergus, he wouldn't have come. A jerk like him could be dealt with by anyone. However, Violet was here, and he missed her. If something could happen between them, that was all the better.
Fergus raised an eyebrow and smiled, "I don't like being threatened. If you want to take me out, I'll have to take you out first!"
When he said that, he opened the car door, ready to get out. If Violet weren't in the car, he would've dragged John in to question him.
"Don't touch him!"
Violet grabbed his arm. She knew his capabilities, but if he touched John, the consequences would be severe.
She said seriously, "Fergus, don't be impulsive."
Fergus sat back in his seat, "Alright!"
John sneered coldly, "You want to touch me? In my eyes, you're as laughable as an ant on the ground. Also, I want your arm. Before you die, I'll make sure to take it off, haha!"
He pointed to the arm Violet had touched, then stood up straight. "Ms. Gray, we'll meet again soon!"
He turned and left.
Then, he got into the car.
"I can kill him right now, you know?" said a black-robed old man sitting in the back seat, emotionless.
He had been in the car the whole time and hadn't gotten out.
John settled in, shook his watch, and mocked, "No need. That'd be a waste."
"Besides, Violet is nearby. If she intends to interfere, it will be a lot of trouble. Let's wait; there will be opportunities later."
The old man in the black robe remained silent.
John instructed the driver, "Head to Twilight Ridge Estate. When in Tarynville, we should visit the locals- no, the most powerful locals."
In the car ahead, Violet had already introduced John. He was from Davenport!
Moreover, he was the sole heir of the Zimmermans, ranked third among the five major families in the State.
The five major families held immense power in the State. Even the State Capital's officials, Frank and Samuel, dared not offend them lightly.
The Zimmerman family head, Thomas Zimmerman, had once saved Mr. Gray of the Grays. The two families had close ties.
"Be careful these days. John is arrogant and reckless; he can do anything. I'll find a way to bring him back and never set foot in Tarynville again!"
Violet's face was full of seriousness. There was one thing she hadn't told Fergus: although the Zimmerman family was attached to the Gray family, they supported her father's rival faction.
If John resorted to unscrupulous means, no one in the Gray family would say anything.
But if John got hurt by Fergus, the Gray family would be furious, and she wouldn't be able to protect him!
This society was just that realistic. Fergus was weak, so no matter right or wrong, everything will point to him.
Seeing her seriousness, Fergus didn't argue and smiled. "I'll be careful; don't worry."
In the meanwhile, Logan and Tyler were also at Westside Manor.
"Is that land really flourishing with life and attracting birds?" Linda exclaimed in shock. She hadn't been there, but just hearing about it was astonishing.
Hayden and Logan nodded, both feeling dying. They sold the land for six million dollars, and now it was worth five hundred million, not including future development value!
In the end, they got nothing and lost two hundred million!
They mused, 'The loss is too great!'
"Could Fergus really have the extraordinary abilities that rumors say?" Linda asked, trembling as she felt sudden regret.
If she had known he was so capable, she should've allowed him to be closer with Sophia.
Sophia bit her lip, recalling Fergus and Violet's intimacy back then. Thinking about it still hurt her heart!
"It's all just trickery!"
Tyler said indignantly, "I think he must have learned some tricks in prison. Nothing good comes from prison!"
"I heard some people develop special drugs to scam others, making the land barren and then earning a lot of money by selling the cure. Fergus must be doing the same."
"Why else would he provoke Mr. Lee?"
"He must be worried about being discovered if experts continued their research further!"
Hearing this, Hayden and Logan's eyes lit up simultaneously. It made sense!
Prison was full of liars, and Fergus was no exception. It might not be ability but only underhanded tactics.
"Tyler might be right!" Hayden nodded.
Logan snorted, "A petty person dares to scheme against me. One day, I'll make him pay!"
The more he thought about Fergus, the more he hated him.
Sophia shook her head at them. They were prejudiced toward Fergus and didn't want to accept his excellence. If they won't admit it, then so be it.
She said coldly, "I'm tired. I'm going to rest."
"Wait!"
Logan suddenly spoke up, looking at Hayden, "Hayden, you saw Fergus and Ms. Gray's relationship. Our future days will be increasingly difficult. If we can't bring down Fergus, we might fail!"
Hayden's face also turned serious. Who could deny it?
Tentatively, Hayden asked, "Do you have a solution?"
Logan cleared his throat. "I have a proposal; let's form an alliance. As long as we're strong enough, we could still confront with Ms. Gary. Taking down Fergus will be easy!"
Hayden pondered for a moment and nodded. "For now, this is the best way. I agree!"
They absolutely couldn't let Fergus develop.
Logan continued, "To solidify the alliance, I suggest Tyler and Sophia get married. Once they're together, we'll be one family!"
Logan had long coveted Hayden's assets and connections; marriage was his method. This was the perfect opportunity!
Everyone was stunned by this, including Tyler, who quickly looked at Sophia with burning eyes.
"I don't agree!"
Sophia said coldly, "I'm not ready for marriage. Besides, I don't like Tyler. We're just friends!"
She wouldn't marry anyone; especially not Tyler. He thought he was discreet, but she knew he had tricked lots of girls. She found him disgusting!
Tyler's mouth twitched, but he said nothing.
Logan, knowing she wouldn't agree, incited, "Hayden, Linda, in all of Tarynville, who besides Tyler is worthy of Sophia? Moreover, if not through marriage, how can the alliance be stable? Without stability, we'll lose!"
Hayden and Linda exchanged glances. They knew that if they refused, they'd part ways with Logan, and the consequences would be as he said.
Thus, they both nodded.
"Alright, we'll become in-laws!"
