Chapter 36 Let's Begin

In Sky Palace.

"This is the groundbreaking invitation for Plot 140!"

Sarah rushed into the villa, holding an invitation unpleasantly.. "This was delivered from Logan Group, and they specifically emphasized that Mr. Yost must attend!"

"Mr. Yost, what do you think about this invitation?"

Her words were clear: she wanted Fergus to keep his promise and leave Gray Group, though she didn't say it outright.

Violet was completely torn, unsure of how to help.

"Nothing much." Fergus responded nonchalantly, "Since they invited me, I'll go."

In fact, he wanted to go even without an invitation; he wanted to see Logan and Hayden's reactions in person.

"You... you really have thick skin!"

Sarah gritted her teeth and looked at Violet. "Ms. Gray, according to the agreement, if he can't get the land back, he has to resign voluntarily. You heard it."

"He didn't get it back last night, and now everyone knows that Plot 140 is going to be a major development site. It's impossible for to get it back."

"Please, as promised, dismiss him!"

Violet was very troubled, caught in a dilemma. Deep down, she knew that it was impossible to get the land back. Only a fool would give up such a lucrative opportunity.

However, she didn't want Fergus to leave.

She said with difficulty, "Let's wait a bit longer. Today is just the groundbreaking; maybe they'll return the land. Let's wait and see."

Shhe didn't even believe her own words.

"Ms. Gray, what's he done to you to make you so protective of him!" Sarah stomped her foot in anger.

"What are you yelling about? This isn't the place for you to fuss around." Fergus lazily got up. "Let's go see the groundbreaking. Maybe there will be a surprise."

He walked out first.

Violet and Sarah had no choice but to follow.

Soon, they arrived at the ceremony site.

The place was already packed with people, and all the notable figures in Tarynville had been invited.

"Fergus is here too? How does he have the nerve to show up!"

"Ms. Gray must hate him to death. If he hadn't angered Logan back then, this land would've been hers. Now she can only stand by and do nothing."

"A jerk who just got out of prison; I don't know why she values him. He's useless. Just wait an see, it won't be long before he's kicked out!"

People showed their disdain and kept discussing.

Violet's face turned red from embarrassment.

Sarah kept glaring at Fergus angrily. If it weren't for him, they wouldn't be so humiliated.

Fergus smiled and ignored everything.

"Isn't this the famous Fergus!"

A mocking voice came from the crowd as Tyler walked over. He respectfully said, "Ms. Gray, thank you for attending the ceremony, but you really shouldn't have brought this scoundrel. It greatly damages your image."

The people around laughed. "Fergus indeed shouldn't be here."

Violet's face turned cold. "Do I need to explain to you who I bring? Are you serious?"

Tyler's face turned ugly, swearing to himself that he'd have her in bed one day. He twitched lightly and said, "Ms. Gray, I'll take my leave!"

He originally wanted to mock Fergus, but Violet's attitude left him no choice but to leave.

Fergus watched Tyler leave in embarrassment and casually said toward Violet, "Thank you?"

She smiled slightly. "You're welcome."

Her smile left everyone around stunned.

In the crowd, Jessica saw this and stomped her foot in anger. "He's thinking about me, in a relationship with Sophia, and also flirting with Violet. What a douchebag!"

In the distance, Sophia also watched coldly, her brows furrowing unconsciously with unease.

About ten minutes later, the ceremony officially began.

Logan and Hayden took the stage in formal attire, with Tyler and Sophia following on either side. As the sole heirs of their respective groups, it was their time to shine.

"Why is Hayden on stage?"

"What is he doing up there?"

"Could it be that Hayden is also investing?"

No one knew that Hayden held a 50% stake, so they were all puzzled.

While they were still wondering, Logan walked up to the microphone, looking very pleased. "Everyone, quiet down. I hear many of you wondering why Mr. Johnson is also on stage. Let me take this opportunity to tell you that this land is being jointly developed by Mr. Johnson and me!"

There was an uproar.

These two were top figures in Tarynville's business world. Their joint development—did it mean they were joining forces?

Logan raised his hand to quiet the crowd. "Before the groundbreaking, I want to especially thank someone!"

"And that is Fergus!"

"I wouldn't have gotten this land without him. Mr. Yost, thank you!"

Tyler quickly jumped in, bowing. "Thank you for giving us this state-priority land. I thank you."

The crowd burst into laughter; everyone could hear their mockery.

"You're welcome. Just don't curse me when you cry later," Fergus responded calmly.

The crowd showed real disdain, and Sarah joined in. He was so stubborn.

"Actually, I also want to thank Fergus!"

Hayden suddenly spoke. "If it weren't for him, I wouldn't invest."

"Just yesterday, he tricked Sophia into a relapse of her old illness. When I was at my wit's end, he came to me saying he could cure her, but he wanted me to get this land and give it to him."

"I immediately went to Mr. Shaw. When Mr. Shaw heard it was for Sophia, he agreed without a second thought!"

"When Sophia woke up, I was about to give him the land when she told me she had been angered into unconsciousness. I didn't give him the land, and I only found out this morning that this land was going to be a major development!"

When he said that, the crowd fell silent; that was a lot to take in, need a moment to digest it.

Sophia suddenly looked at  and thought, 'How could he say that?'

Hayden's face remained calm. Since he had offended Fergus, he might as well go all out to eliminate any future trouble!

Sure enough, within three seconds, the crowd erupted in curses.

"He knew this land was going to be developed and regretted it, so he tricked Ms. Johnson. I've never seen such a jerk in my life!"

"He's scum and trash! Ms. Gray, how can you keep such a despicable person by your side? You should kick him out immediately; keeping him will ruin your reputation!"

"Such a person should be cut into pieces and his bones crushed to dust. Ms. Gray, you need to think carefully!"

Violet clenched her fists, unable to believe how Hayden could shamelessly distort the truth.

In the distance, Jessica was also stunned and wondered, 'How could Fergus do such a thing!'

In the entire scene, only Fergus remained calm. These people were so shameless that it wasn't worth his anger.

He said calmly, "Yes, you're all right. I do want this land, and I still want it now. You can give it to me anytime, and I'm willing to pay $200,000 to buy it!"

When he said that, the crowd became even more furious, and the curses grew nastier.

"Shameless! Do you have any shame? My family's land is worth at least $500 million now. Who do you think you are, trying to buy it for $200,000!" Tyler shouted. "Ms. Gray, fire him immediately!"

Violet was also stunned and pondered, 'What did he mean by that? How could $200,000 be possible?'

"Shut up!" Sarah yelled angrily. "Ms. Gray is still here. If you have no shame, don't drag others down with you."

Fergus casually said, "I'm doing this for your own good. You'd better take $200,000 now, or it won't be worth it later. Alright, cut the crap. Start the ceremony!"
