Chapter 21 Truly Don't Understand
The noise was like a thunderclap.
Gray Group employees stood up, looking nervous and pale.
Sarah's eyes gleamed oddly. With a half-smile, she said, "Mr. Yost, the building's security team is here, and they don't look kind. You better handle this!"
She thought, 'Can he even take on one guard, let alone ten or twenty? If he gets beaten up, how can he still be a partner of the Henderson Group?
"Why panic? It's simple," Fergus replied calmly, standing up and heading out.
Outside.
Dozens of angry security guards were ready to pounce.
The security captain, full of swagger, saw Fergus and shouted, "Are you Fergus? You beat up my guy downstairs. How are you gonna make up for it?"
The other guards were furious, too.
"Refuse to compensate, and we'll trash your company!"
"Who do you think you are, hitting a guard?"
"Believe it or not, we'll beat you to death!"
Normally, they wouldn't dare act like this. Even regular employees would get a smile. But this time, they had backup.
Sarah stepped back behind Fergus, watching with a smirk, curious about his next move.
Fergus stayed calm, looking at the security guard captain. "I hit him, but it wasn't my fault. So no compensation. You're just a service worker. Your salary comes from my rent. Who gave you the nerve to shout at me?"
"Three seconds. Apologize and get lost."
The employees stayed silent, eager to see how Fergus, who got his position by luck, would handle it.
The captain laughed angrily, stepped forward, and sneered, "You like threats? Fine, I'll give you three seconds too. Apologize, or else!"
"Apologize!"
"Apologize!"
"Hurry up!"
The guards were ready to act, dreaming of impressing Violet and replacing Fergus. This was their big chance!
Sarah smiled inwardly and reminded, "Mr. Yost, you can't apologize. You represent the Henderson Group and Ms. Gray. If you apologize, you'll humiliate them!"
If he didn't apologize, the guards would beat him up.
"Of course, I won't let Ms. Gray be involved."
Fergus stayed calm. "You have one second left!"
The captain sneered and stepped forward. "You also have one second left. Will you apologizeeel or not?"
As soon as he finished, Fergus moved in a flash, slapped the captain's shoulder, and commanded, "Apologize!"
Bang!
The captain collapsed onto the ground.
Seeing this, the guards went wild, shouting, "Hit him!"
"Beat him to death for the captain!"
They rushed at Fergus, treating him as the enemy.
The employees screamed in fear.
Sarah's smile widened as she retreated. She thought, 'With dozens of guards, Fergus is doomed! Just watch.'
Fergus moved swiftly, leaving no one standing. The guards fell one by one.
In just a few seconds, dozens of guards were on the ground, writhing in pain, unable to stand!
Sarah was stunned, thinking, 'Is he a monster?'
The employees were shocked, too. Fergus was ruthless!
The captain, still on the ground, was pale and trembling.
"The stakes have changed. All of you apologize, or you'll each lose a leg." Fergus clapped his hands and walked back to the captain. "Starting with you, apologize sincerely."
The security captain, drenched in sweat, quickly looked at Sarah. He was causing trouble because she told him to. Without her backing, he wouldn't have dared! She needed to say something now.
Sarah, with a stiff expression, said, "Mr. Yost, fighting is a thug's way. You can't beat them. If word gets out, how will people view the Henderson Group? Who would dare to work with us?"
"You must win people over with virtue!"
If the captain apologized, he'd expose Sarah, causing a lot of trouble, so she had to intervene.
Fergus glanced at her and said casually, "You're right. We should win people over with virtue. They don't need to apologize. They insulted me, I hit them, it's even."
"From now on, the Gray Group will leave Sky Tower and find another place."
Hearing this, the captain trembled even more, and the guards were too scared to speak. The Gray Group was a major client. If they moved out, an investigation would follow, revealing their deeds, and everyone would be fired.
Sarah gritted her teeth. "Mr. Yost, the contract has been signed, and the rent has been paid. Moving out now would cause a huge loss. I think it's best to keep it quiet."
"Escalating it would have consequences, so it's better not to let it spread."
Fergus nodded. "Ms. Mitchell makes a good point. Letting it spread will lead to trouble. I know someone named Mr. Quinn. He's very good at keeping secrets. I'll let him handle it."
Fergus then took out his phone.
"Mr. Quinn?"
The captain almost cried. Mr. Quinn was the big boss of the city. He'd bag them in a sack and throw them into the river.
Not daring to wait any longer, he quickly admitted, "Mr. Yost, I was wrong. Please don't call. This wasn't my idea. It was Sarah. She told me to cause trouble. She wanted to embarrass you and make you leave the Gray Group in disgrace!"
Sarah's face changed dramatically, and she scolded, "Shut up! How dare you slander me? Do you still want your job?"
The captain, on the verge of collapse, said, "I'd rather lose my job than die. Mr. Yost, she gave me three thousand dollars. There's a transfer record. You can check it if you don't believe me!"
"You..." Sarah was speechless.
Fergus looked at her slowly and raised an eyebrow. "Is he telling the truth?"
At this point, Sarah knew she couldn't hide it anymore, so it was time for a showdown. After all, Violet couldn't know this.
She arrogantly said, "Yes, I planned it because you don't deserve this position."
"Fergus, if you get what's going on, leave on your own. Don't hinder the Gray Group's development, and don't make Ms. Gray a target!"
"You don't deserve the Gray Group!"
As she finished, the employees all nodded secretly, and even the guards nodded discreetly.
This wasn't just their opinion; the entire Tarynville thought so.
What a joke!
Fergus wasn't angry with the guards, but he was a bit angry at Sarah's words. He said in a low voice, "How do you know I can't do my job well?"
Sarah sneered, "I just know. The whole of Tarynville knows!"
"If you think you deserve it, then tell me how the company will develop in the future? What's the plan? What's the estimated investment for the next year? What's the expected revenue? And what's the company's position in Tarynville?"
"The simplest question: What does gross profit mean? What about net profit? Can you answer that?"
After saying this, Sarah looked at Fergus with increasing disdain.
Fergus was speechless at Sarah's questions. He indeed didn't get the hang of these things.
