Chapter 113 Sealing the Door
When Wyatt finished talking, he had this look of pure disdain on his face.
It wasn't just him; everyone was backing Tyler, all giving Fergus these mocking looks.
Fergus, pissed off, laughed, "You think I'm down and out, and everyone wants to stomp on my pride? Wyatt, you're fired. Get out of the hotel now!"
No point keeping disloyal people around.
Wyatt laughed, all cocky, "You think you can just fire me like that? Let me tell you, I'm now the general manager of Mr. Shaw's hotel. Whether I stay or go, that's up to Mr. Shaw."
He bowed deeply, showing extreme respect. "Mr. Shaw, I'm at your disposal."
Fergus, trying to keep his cool, snapped, "This is my hotel!"
"Wrong!" Tyler cut in, all arrogant, "It was your hotel, but now it's mine. Simple reason: I want it. Fergus, I told you I'd take everything from you. I want to buy this hotel for one dollar. Sell it to me!"
Everyone was stunned.
One dollar?
This hotel was worth at least over 1.5 billion dollars. Buying it for a buck? That's straight-up robbery. But with Mr. Shaw's power, if he wanted to rob it, no one could do a thing about it.
"Fergus, since Mr. Shaw wants it, just sell it. Why are you hesitating?"
"Mr. Shaw's even offering a dollar; that's your good luck. Don't be stupid."
"Look at yourself. What right do you have to stand up to Mr. Shaw now?"
People around him chimed in, secretly relieved Mr. Shaw wasn't eyeing their properties. If he was, they wouldn't stand a chance either.
Fergus loosened his stance, stood up slowly, and smiled faintly, "What did you just say? I didn't catch that. Say it again."
Seeing Fergus stand up, everyone took a step back, looking tense. They all remembered the Westside Manor incident; this guy could beat someone to death. Now that Fergus had nothing left to lose, what if he went to the extreme?
Tyler sneered, not nervous at all, actually looking excited, "Fergus, you think I'd come at you without a plan like those two idiots? I didn't get here by just reputation! It's all about brains and strategy!"
Then Tyler snapped his fingers.
Suddenly, the sound of footsteps came from behind, and a group of uniformed people walked in quickly.
They were officials from the Commerce Department!
Leading them was none other than the Commerce Department Director, Bruce!
Everyone gasped. In Tarynville, anyone in business knew Bruce. He was like the king of the business world; one word from him, and any company could be under investigation. And now, he was here in person!
Bruce walked in and spoke coldly, "Are you Fergus? I got a real-name report that Tarynville Hotel has major commercial issues. Effective immediately, the hotel is to cease operations for rectification!"
Fergus squinted. "What commercial issues?"
Wyatt stepped forward, excitedly holding a ledger. "Fergus, you should ask me. All the issues with Tarynville Hotel are recorded by me. By the way, I'm the one who reported it!"
Having worked at Tarynville Hotel for decades, he had taken advantage of his position to gain many benefits, all recorded in the ledger. But now, all of it could be used to frame Fergus.
Tyler didn't hide his intentions anymore. With so many people around, it was the perfect chance to show off!
He raised two fingers and sneered, "Fergus, you got two choices now. Either sell the hotel to me for a buck, or spend some time in jail, and the hotel gets shut down! Make your pick!"
When Tyler finished, everyone was too scared to even breathe. It was blatant bullying, and yet there was no way to fight back!
At this point, Mr. Shaw was downright terrifying.
"Bastard!" Max, who had just gotten up from the ground, cursed viciously, "I offered a billion dollars just now, and you didn't sell. Now you have to sell for a dollar? Serves you right!"
If he weren't afraid of causing trouble in front of Tyler, he would've beaten Fergus up right then and there.
Fergus casually slapped Max away, finding him annoying.
He looked at Bruce and chuckled, "I might not know much about business, but I know common sense. Wyatt's got a lot of info, but you need to verify it. I don't believe you can check everything in just two days. You can't just shut down a big hotel like that."
If a real-name report could immediately lead to a shutdown, society would be in chaos.
Bruce snorted, "Who do you think you are? Do I need your belief? Let me tell you, this hotel has issues if I say it does, even if it doesn't! What can you do if I shut it down?"
"Mr. Shaw has gave you choices. Just pick the first or second one quickly. Don't waste time!" Bruce didn't hide his intentions anymore; he was here to help Tyler.
Fergus stepped back and sat back in his chair, sneering, "You have completely betrayed the taxpayers, serving only the privileged class. Bruce, you're really shameless. When I meet Governor Frod, I'll explain the situation in full detail."
Hearing his words, the surrounding customers laughed, finding him ridiculous.
"Did he say he wants to meet Governor Frod? What a joke! It's hard for him to even meet the Mayor now!"
"Is he crazy? He should take a good look at himself first. What makes him think Governor Frod would meet him?"
"Maybe he once met Governor Frod at Ms. Gray's meet-and-greet and remembered his name. He's just boasting now!"
No one believed him. Everyone found his words funnier than jokes.
Tyler was also amused by Fergus's words. He mocked, "You jerk still want to meet the Governor? If there's one young person in Tarynville who can meet the Governor, it would definitely be me, not you! Fergus, you should know that I'm the one who is Ms. Gray's partner, while you're no more than a loser!"
With that, he stared at Fergus flippantly.
Bruce waved his hand as he smiled, "Mr. Shaw, with people like this, there's no need to waste words on them. As long as you want this hotel, there are plenty of ways. You can first shut down the hotel, then solidify the charges, confiscate the assets, and proceed with the auction process."
Tyler nodded and emphasized, "Fergus, I'm giving you one last chance to choose. Tell me, which option are you going to pick? Don't test my patience; it's very limited!"
Fergus's expression was extremely calm. "What a collusion! I choose neither. What can you do about it?"
"Nonsense!" Wyatt glared, "In front of Mr. Shaw and Mr. Howard, how dare you speak so arrogantly? Mr. Shaw, Mr. Howard, I'll call security to teach him a lesson!"
"No need!" Tyler's face turned grim, and he uttered coldly, "Fighting is the lowest form of conflict resolution. I use higher methods. Bruce, start sealing from the top floor!"
Bruce waved his hand as he ordered, "Clear the upper floors and seal them off!"
