Chapter 25 Drinking Bitter Gourd Juice
When Tyler walked in, Logan was already awake, sitting in a chair, panting and still fuming.
Kneeling and calling Fergus "dad" was humiliating.
Spending $200 million on land was a waste.
He had lost money and dignity!
"Dad, are you okay?" Tyler asked, worried.
Logan waved him off, stood up slowly, and addressed the room, "You all saw what happened. No point in hiding it."
"Anyone interested in joining me in developing this land?"
The room went silent. Everyone thought Logan was crazy. The land was worth $600-700 million tops; investing more was a loss.
He spent $200 million; anyone investing would lose money.
Only a fool would invest!
"Glad Mr. Fergus Shaw is fine. I have other matters to attend to, so I'll take my leave!"
"Just remembered I have a meeting!"
"It's my mom's 80th birthday today..."
People left one by one. They stayed earlier because Logan had fainted. Now, seeing the situation and being asked to invest, they left without hesitation.
Logan clenched his fists, cursing them as cowards. If more companies invested, each would only lose $8-9 million.
He looked at Hayden. "Hayden, I need your help."
Hayden sat there, lost in thought.
He was thinking about Fergus, who had outsmarted Logan.
Hayden thought, 'Fergus is a genius! Maybe his father is right; Fergus could ensure the family's prosperity for years!
If only he hadn't driven him away... Should I let Sophia try again?'
"Hayden? Can you help me? I'd be eternally grateful!" Logan asked again.
He had no choice but to find other investors. The land could be mortgaged for $45 million, leaving a $150 million gap. The Logan Group had $1 billion in assets but limited liquid funds. Using them all would ruin the company.
"Invest, right? No problem, but I need to discuss it with the board. I'll let you know soon. I'll go back and hold a meeting now."
Hayden made an excuse and left.
Tyler panicked. "Dad, what do we do? If we pay $200 million, the company will have no liquid funds and could go bankrupt."
Logan's eyes crossed fierceness. "Don't panic. If they won't help, we'll make them beg to help us! Walter can still make Sophia fall again!"
"If she falls, you'll get billions and Sophia's property!"
Tyler got fired up.
Fergus didn't go back to the company but went straight to Sky Palace. He decided he had to come clean with Violet; he couldn't stay here doing business.
Just as he reached the door, he heard Samuel inside, "Violet, even if Fergus is Ryan's student, he's too young. And Ryan ended up in prison; Fergus isn't trustworthy either."
"Be cautious!"
Frank added, "Yes, especially since you had a falling out with your family. Your father bore the pressure to let you come to Tarynville. If you don't make it, your life will be ruined."
"Don't trust him easily."
Fergus stood outside, amused. He had cured their illnesses, and now they were badmouthing him. And they were State Capital officials, no less.
Fergus didn't rush in, wanting to hear what Violet would say.
Violet firmly said, "Uncle Samuel, Uncle Frank, don't worry. I've tested him; he's trustworthy. I can't explain how, but you can trust him unconditionally!"
Samuel and Frank were taken aback and frowned, sensing something was off.
Violet didn't elaborate and said briefly, "Uncle Samuel, Uncle Frank, you must have a lot of work. Don't waste time on me."
They exchanged glances and sighed.
Samuel stood up, sternly saying, "Remember, no evil intentions, no lack of vigilance. Fergus has been to prison!"
Frank added, "If you notice anything unusual about him, contact me immediately, and I'll handle it!"
Just then, the door opened.
Fergus walked in, pretending to be surprised. "Oh, you're here. I was just looking for you."
"Oh, by the way, the treatment and medication I gave you might have side effects, making your condition worse than before!"
They were stunned and thought, 'How did he get in?'
But they were more concerned about themselves and quickly asked, "Is there a solution for the side effects?"
After finally recovering, if it got worse, they might as well be dead.
"There is!"
Fergus casually said, "Starting today, drink bitter gourd juice like coffee for a month, and the medicine will work."
"Pfft..."
Violet couldn't help but laugh, giving Fergus a resentful look. He must have overheard the conversation outside and said this on purpose.
Drinking bitter gourd juice like coffee? That would be unbearably bitter!
Samuel and Frank's faces turned red. They were smart enough to understand.
Samuel awkwardly said, "Fergus, don't joke around. How can bitter gourd juice be drunk like coffee?"
Fergus nonchalantly replied, "Believe it or not, but the consequences are on you. If you don't follow my advice, don't come to me when the side effects kick in."
They were utterly frustrated, knowing he was messing with them, but he was a highly skilled doctor—they didn't dare listen!
"My phone's ringing."
Frank muttered, then picked up the phone, pretending, "Approve it. List Tarynville's Plot 140 as a key development area. Issue the document tomorrow. That's it!"
After saying this, he glanced at Fergus, hinting. This was a deliberate message for him, worth not just $200 million but at least tens of billions!
It was a way to thank him for the prescription and to stop tormenting them. They wanted to know if there were any side effects!
"Plot 140?"
Fergus was puzzled and thought, 'Isn't that the land from today's auction? The State wanted to develop it? The Shaw family wouldn't lose money but would profit?'
Samuel, unaware of Fergus's confusion, thought he needed more leverage and also picked up the phone. "What? The frontline is out of hemostatic drugs? Then procure them. Okay, I'll hold a meeting when I get back."
After hanging up, he also glanced at Fergus.
"Fergus."
Violet called out, slightly annoyed. The uncles had given their leverage, so stop tormenting them, "Doctors don't joke with patients. Are there any side effects?"
Fergus looked at her and casually said, "Actually, drinking it for twenty-nine days will counteract the side effects."
Samuel and Frank were speechless, sure he was messing with them, but they didn't dare gamble with their health and obediently went back to drink bitter gourd juice, leaving the villa.
After seeing them off, Violet quickly walked to Fergus, took his arm, and flirtatiously said, "Why did you come back so soon? Did you miss me?"
"No problem, you can do whatever you want. I've been looking forward to it..."
She said, blinking expectantly.
'Looking forward to it?' Fergus repeated inwardly.
Fergus felt his body losing control again.
