Chapter 20 Get Out Here

The next day, Fergus woke up, washed up, and headed downstairs. He found Violet in the kitchen, wearing an apron, with a lavish breakfast already set on the table.

Hearing him, Violet sat down and said, "You're up? Eat up. You'll need the energy to treat me. I think I have a fever again."

Fergus was annoyed, silently cursing his Master for the restrictions. Why couldn't he indulge without permission?

He sat across from her and said, "Hold on. I need to talk to you."

He must break off the engagement as soon as possible; six more fiancées were waiting. He needed to get back to prison to wait for Master. Without seeing him, he couldn't do anything, even with Violet right there.

Violet straightened up, her big eyes blinking at him seriously.

Fergus met her gaze and suddenly didn't know how to start. On second thought, he found having such a fiancée wasn't so bad.

He asked, "Ms. Gray, I heard people from wealthy families usually have arranged marriages. Do you have a fiancé?"

He wanted to gauge her feelings.

Violet was caught off guard but quickly composed herself. She smiled and said, "Yes, but I don't want to marry him. Don't worry; my heart belongs to you. Even if I marry him, we can still be together secretly, okay? Let's live a good life together!"

Fergus was speechless. Was she asking him to be okay with that?

He tried again, "That's not what I meant. Will you marry your fiancé? And after marriage, will you love each other?"

He thought, 'If she could stay faithful, she would still be a good woman—beautiful, with a good figure, and could cook. I could accept her.'

"No!" Violet was firm. "Fergus, you have to believe me. There's no one else in my heart but you. Even my husband can't replace you."

She bit her lip after saying that.

Fergus was at a loss. What was she even talking about? Should he just lay it all out?

He decided not to waste time and took out the prenuptial agreement. If she wanted to marry, fine; if not, he'd move on to the next one.

But then, the door suddenly opened.

A woman in a business suit and high heels walked in. Seeing Fergus, she looked at him with clear disdain.

Standing at the dining table, she said, "Ms. Gray, the company's registration documents and office address are ready. We can start anytime!"

She was about 5'8", attractive, but still not on Violet's level.

Violet got serious. "Give all the documents to Mr. Yost. He knows how to handle them. Fergus, this is Sarah Mitchell. She used to be my secretary. From now on, she's your secretary. You can delegate tasks to her."

Violet wanted Fergus to become a partner, and she wasn't just saying it. He had to work.

"I know nothing about business," Fergus said awkwardly. "I agreed yesterday because I didn't want to reject you in public. You should find someone else."

He had learned many things from Master—astrology, tarot reading, medical books, combat skills—but not business. He really didn't know how.

"You're pretty self-aware!" Sarah sneered, not hiding her disdain. "Fergus, I advise you to get lost. Staying by Ms. Gray's side, one day you'll fall and die!"

She had also looked into Fergus's background, which was simple—just prison time!

Sarah thought, 'How could someone like him be worthy of Violet?'

"Sarah!" Violet scolded.

"Ms. Mitchell," Sarah said, not backing down. "Do you know what people in Tarynville are saying about you? That you're clueless for choosing a partner like him. Some even say you have poor taste!"

"He used to be a criminal. How can he handle your investment?"

"And the success or failure in Tarynville affects your future, and more..."

"Shut up!" Violet snapped. "I know better than you how to choose people. I believe Fergus has potential. He won't disappoint me!"

"From now on, I don't want to hear a single bad word about him from you. Understand?"

Sky Palace was Ryan's property, and Ryan, known as the Radiant Overlord, wouldn't lend his villa to just anyone. Fergus being here meant he had a special relationship with Ryan. He must have taught him business skills!

"Understood." Sarah handed the documents to Fergus. "Mr. Yost, these are all the documents. Please check."

Fergus felt overwhelmed. He didn't know about business, but he could perform mystical rituals...

"Fergus, you need to have confidence," Violet said sincerely. "I believe one day you'll shine brightly and have a career, right?"

Meeting her gaze, Fergus nodded. "Of course!"

After breakfast, Violet said she had things to do at Sky Palace. Fergus went with Sarah to Sky Tower, where all the well-known companies in Tarynville had offices.

The car stopped at the building entrance.

"Mr. Yost, you can go to the company first. I'll park the car," Sarah said respectfully.

"Okay." Fergus got out of the car, his mind a mess. He had no idea how to do business and could only try his best.

As Sarah watched him walk away, her expression turned sour. She muttered, "Jerk, let's see what you're capable of! Getting through the door is the first test!"

"Stop!" A security guard holding a rubber baton said arrogantly, "This is Sky Tower. No riffraff allowed. Step back immediately, or face the baton!"

The security guard knew Fergus and last night's events. He cursed fate for being unfair. If a criminal could become a partner, so could he!

Fergus smiled. "I'm here to work. The Gray Group on the 33rd floor."

"Heh..." The guard tapped the baton against his hand and sneered. "The Gray Group? I know it. It's a new company, and the chairman is Ms. Violet Gray."

"But you? You think you belong here?"

"Get lost, or don't blame me for being rude!"

Bang! Before the guard finished speaking, Fergus kicked him away. "You're just a security guard. You're here to guard the door, not block it, idiot!"

Fergus strode inside.

In the distance, Sarah was dumbfounded. She never expected Fergus to get in so easily. She gritted her teeth, quickly parked the car, and went upstairs.

Without knocking, Sarah stormed into the general manager's office. "Fergus, I heard you just hit a security guard? You're the boss, not a thug. How can you hit people!"

Fergus leaned back in his chair. "Do you know your status? Who's the boss? This is your first warning for disrespecting me. Next time, I'll dock half your pay. The third time, you'll be fired!"

He didn't know about business, but he knew about docking pay and firing people.

"You!" Sarah was furious, cursing him in her heart, but she held back her anger. "Mr. Yost, I heard the security department is furious and wants an explanation from you! If you can't handle it properly, Ms. Gray might fire you!"

Click, click, click. Footsteps sounded outside, and a group of security guards stormed in.

The head of security shouted, "Where's Fergus? Get out here!"
