Chapter 70 Violet Collected Money
Pretty soon, the crew rolled up to Westside Manor.
The place was a total 180 from when it was all lit up and buzzing with guests. Now, it was a wreck—quiet and deserted. If it weren't for the lights still on in the villa, you'd think it had been abandoned for ages.
They headed up to the second floor.
Sophia was lying on the bed, eyes shut, face as white as a sheet, even her lips had lost color. She looked like she wasn't even breathing, and her wrists were wrapped in bandages!
She had tried to end it all by slitting her wrists.
"Mr. Yost, you're here!" David jumped up and explained, "Ms. Johnson has lost two-thirds of her blood, and nearly half of her organs are failing. I could only use acupuncture to keep her hanging on. If the needles come out, Ms. Johnson will probably die right away."
Violet gasped; this was serious!
Hayden and Linda were bawling their eyes out, filled with regret. If they hadn't pushed Sophia, this wouldn't have happened. If something happened to her, they didn't want to live either.
"Fergus, I'm begging you, I'll do anything for you in the future, just save Sophia," Linda pleaded again.
"We were wrong; we genuinely acknowledge our faults, Fergus. Whether you believe it or not, we were egged on by Logan and his son. We messed up," Hayden said, tears streaming down his face.
"It is indeed very serious!" Fergus said gravely. "According to Aguguq's theory, blood contains energy, and this energy circulates throughout the body, nurturing the spirit. Right now, Sophia has no much blood left, which means no much vital energy left, and her original spirit has fled. To put it simply, Sophia is about to die."
Linda's eyes rolled back, and she fainted from fright.
Hayden knelt down again. "Fergus, I'm begging you, please."
David sighed and said bitterly, "Mr. Yost is right. I don't understand the mysteries as well as Mr. Yost, but I know about vital energy. Ms. Johnson's energy is almost gone. Mr. Johnson, prepare for the worst!"
Violet frowned, hoping Fergus would treat her. After all, saving a life was a good deed, but the situation was so severe that it seemed beyond anyone's ability to save.
Fergus then said, "Fortunately, Sophia met me. Although it's tricky, it's not a big problem!"
Everyone was stunned.
Violet thought for a moment and softly reminded, "Fergus, you still need to be cautious!"
A doctor might not become famous for saving a hundred people, but failing to save one could ruin his reputation. Given the current situation, she didn't want Fergus to take the risk.
Fergus smiled. "It's a small issue."
Saving Sophia would bring in fifty billion dollars, and Violet wouldn't have to leave. So he decided to save her.
He then instructed, "Get a ginseng root that's over thirty years old, a reishi mushroom that's over ten years old, a chicken that's over three years old, a pigeon, and a set of equipment for preparing medicine."
Fergus listed a series of medicinal ingredients.
"Alright, I'll have someone find them right away!" Hayden nodded, not daring to delay for a moment, and quickly made calls to arrange the search.
Pretty soon, the medicinal ingredients were laid out in front of them.
Fergus then said, "Everyone leave, David stays to assist!"
Violet gave a heavy look, feeling uneasy as she walked out the door.
David had no complaints; instead, he was extremely excited. Being able to observe up close was the greatest honor.
"Mr. Yost, what do you need me to do?" David asked, trying to keep his voice steady.
Fergus tossed the ingredients into the pot and said, "Prepare the medicine. I'm gonna catch some Z's. Wake me up in an hour."
Then he just lay down on the bed. Saving Xavier had wiped him out, and he needed to recharge.
David almost choked. Sophia was on the brink, and this guy was taking a nap? But he didn't dare argue and got to work on the medicine.
An hour later, Fergus woke up looking way more refreshed.
Sophia, still out cold, looked even worse, her breathing barely there.
Fergus walked over to the pot. "I'll take it from here."
David nodded, but his curiosity got the better of him. "Mr. Yost, I might be missing something, but while these ingredients are great for boosting energy, given Ms. Johnson's condition, I'm not sure they'll do much."
Fergus watched the fire and explained, "These ingredients are considered supplements because the medicinal content in them is very low. A pound of chicken contains less than a gram of the essence that truly nourishes; the rest is just filler. So, it seems like they can only supplement. But if you extract that gram and use it as medicine, discarding the rest, it becomes a treatment rather than just a supplement."
David nodded but couldn't help thinking, 'Everyone gets that, but how do you extract it? That gram isn't in one place; it's scattered throughout the ingredients. So, it's impossible to extract!'
Just then, Fergus said, "It's done!" and slowly opened the pot.
David, ever diligent, grabbed a bowl to serve the medicine, but when he saw what was inside, his eyes nearly popped out of his head.
"This isn't medicine, it's Elixir?" he gasped.
Inside the pot were seven golden-yellow Elixirs, each the size of a soybean, glowing faintly.
Fergus casually said, "This is what I meant by extracting the essence. Feed three to Sophia; her condition is quite severe."
David didn't feed them but instead knelt down.
With utmost reverence, he said, "Mr. Yost, you have the power to heal the dead. I wish to be your disciple and serve you for the rest of my life!"
Fergus replied, "I don't take disciples, get up!"
His mentor was still alive, so he couldn't take on disciples.
As he spoke, he personally fed three Elixirs to Sophia, which melted in her mouth.
Visibly, Sophia's complexion grew rosier, and her breathing became more stable.
Seeing this, David, as if witnessing a miracle, continued to kneel. "Mr. Yost, can I not be your disciple? Even an apprentice?"
An apprentice wasn't even considered a disciple, just someone who did chores but could secretly observe and assist.
Fergus, exasperated, said, "No, and don't tell anyone I know medicine; it's annoying!"
If David hadn't spoken up tonight, Hayden wouldn't have come to Fergus.
He added, "The follow-up treatment is simple, I'll leave it to you."
With that, he turned and walked out of the room.
"Fergus, how is it? How's my daughter?" Hayden and Linda, who had been pacing nervously outside, rushed to his side as soon as he came out.
Fergus didn't respond; he slowly looked at Violet.
Violet, feeling anxious, asked, "Did it fail?"
Fergus looked at her for two seconds, then suddenly smiled and said, "Violet, collect the money!"
