Chapter 89 Now, Get Out!
As Fergus wrapped up his speech, the doors to the banquet hall creaked open, and in walked an old man in a robe. It was none other than David, the famous healer of Tarynville.
"David?"
"What's he doing here?"
"Did someone actually call him? But why?"
Everyone was shocked to see David. He was a big deal in Tarynville, and getting an appointment with him was nearly impossible. How did he end up here so suddenly?
Thomas and his crew were floored. They had gone out of their way to keep David away tonight, worried he might expose their plans. How did Fergus manage to get him here?
Still, they had to play nice.
They were just about to go greet him when a sneer cut through the crowd. Aaron, full of disdain, said, "Just a washed-up hack, my old rival. If no one butts in, I can easily outdo David in medical skills!"
Aaron assumed David was with Fergus, and since he was currently siding with Thomas, he saw this as a chance to trash David and boost his own rep.
Colin caught on and asked, "Aaron, you know David?"
Aaron nodded, all mysterious-like. "Yeah, we had the same mentor. Every time we competed, David was always second best. Even in today's contest at noon, he couldn't match me!"
He turned away, all smug.
The crowd looked at Aaron with newfound respect. They had no idea he was that good.
Colin grinned and said, "Got it. Let me introduce everyone. This is Aaron, the medical consultant for InfiniCure Biotech!"
Just then, two slaps echoed through the room, leaving them both dazed.
Thomas, fuming, said, "How dare you badmouth David in front of me? Think I'm a pushover? Say one more bad word about David, and I'll cut your tongues out!"
Thomas needed David for the Elixir, so he couldn't let anyone disrespect him.
Thomas quickly went over to greet David, clasping his hands. "David, glad you could make it."
Marlin and the others shot daggers at Colin and Aaron before rushing over to greet David too.
"Mr. Brown!" they said, all respectful.
But David didn't even glance their way. He walked straight over to Fergus and said, "Mr. Yost!"
Everyone was floored.
The room was full of smart people, but no one could figure this out. Thomas was welcoming David, but David was showing respect to Fergus, who was supposedly losing his support.
Even Violet looked puzzled.
Fergus gave a slight nod, then turned to Thomas with a sneer. "Get it now?"
Thomas's face turned red, his brows knitting together. "You teamed up with David to get the Elixir? Well, your plan's gonna fail!"
Thomas glared at David and threatened, "David, I respect you, which is why you're still breathing. If I didn't, you'd be done for. Think hard about who you give the Elixir to!"
Finally, everyone got it—David had the Elixir.
Marlin was freaking out. If David gave the Elixir to Fergus, Violet would stay, and his revenge would be out the window.
He quickly said, "David, you better think twice. Look around and see who's got your back. One wrong move and you could lose everything!"
Tyler, looking panicked, added, "David, we had a deal that the Elixir goes to Mr. Zimmerman. If you back out now, the Shaw Family will come after you with everything we've got. You'll regret it!"
David stood up slowly, facing them. "Even if you grind my bones to dust, I can't give you the Elixir. The formula isn't mine; it belongs to Mr. Yost! Every bit of Elixir is made by him!"
"What?" Thomas looked like he'd been struck by lightning, his eyes practically popping out of his head.
"No way, how could this guy make Elixir? That's impossible!" Logan shouted, like he'd seen a ghost.
"Impossible!"
"Absolutely impossible!"
Everyone else chimed in, unable to believe Fergus could make the Elixir.
Violet whipped her head around.
Hayden's jaw dropped.
Samuel's mind was spinning.
With everyone staring, Fergus calmly said, "You bunch of fools. If you don't believe me, ask around about my medical skills!"
Hayden stood up and said seriously, "Mr. Yost is a miracle worker. On my daughter's wedding day, she tried to kill herself and lost a ton of blood. Mr. Yost saved her!"
Hearing this, everyone was stunned.
Thomas and his crew turned pale. They thought they were setting a trap for Fergus, but it turned out they had walked right into his.
Fergus couldn't care less about them anymore. He looked at Samuel and smiled. "Remember what I said earlier? I'd make you regret it."
Samuel was sweating, his mind in chaos, but he still confronted him. "I remember, and I'm looking forward to it!"
Fergus calmly said, "Since you signed a contract with Thomas, go get the medicine from him. Let me be clear, I won't sell my medicine to you!"
Samuel's body tensed up. Having this medicine was like having a military hospital. Without it, they'd suffer a huge loss in both medicine and morale.
He gritted his teeth and said, "You have to sell it to me. If Ms. Gray can't reach the top, she'll have to go back to Capital City!"
Violet also looked at Fergus, thinking Samuel had a point.
Fergus calmly replied, "First off, you're not the only Ironclad Defense Ministry in the country. I can just sell it to others. Secondly, the medicine is good and will sell itself. What I mean is, I won't sell to you! If you want it, go find Thomas. You're partners, right?"
After saying that, Fergus took Violet's hand. "Violet, let's go!"
"You!" Samuel and Thomas both started to speak, but only managed a word because they'd been outplayed by Fergus.
But then, Fergus suddenly stopped.
He slowly turned around and said, "Oh, I almost forgot. Not only is the formula mine, but this Tarynville Hotel is also mine. If anyone should leave, it's you! Now, get out!"
In an instant, everyone in the hall felt their vision go black, dizzy with anger. There was nothing they could do because the hotel was indeed Fergus's.
