Chapter 16 No Time

When Fergus's last finger dropped, Samuel suddenly spat out blood. He was on the couch but collapsed to the floor, unconscious.

Everyone was shocked!

Panic erupted.

Even Frank and Violet were caught off guard.

"Mr. Miller!"

"Uncle Samuel!"

"Call 911!"

The living room was in chaos. Samuel was the military commander. If anything happened to him, there could be serious consequences.

"It's pointless. He won't make it by the time the ambulance arrives," Fergus said calmly.

Everyone turned to Fergus, remembering his words.

"Are you a doctor?" someone asked.

"Guess?"

"Can you save Mr. Miller?" another person asked.

"Guess?"

"I order you to save Mr. Miller!" The Mayor of Tarynville was furious. He couldn't let anything happen to Samuel in his town.

"Who the hell are you?" Fergus snapped. 'Just the Mayor of Tarynville? The guys in Shadowgate Penitentiary are tougher,' he thought.

"Fergus," Violet pleaded, "Can you save Uncle Samuel? I'm begging you."

"Uncle Samuel was my grandfather's bodyguard and a war hero. Please save him."

Violet had a close bond with Samuel. He often escorted her to school for safety when she was young.

"No wonder."

Fergus muttered. He liked Violet, and Samuel had served the country. He stepped forward and slapped Samuel hard on the back.

"Poof!"

Samuel spat out more blood.

Others thought it was worse and shouted.

"If you harm Mr. Miller, I'll kill you!"

"Arrest him!"

The tension was high.

"Stop!"

Samuel slowly opened his eyes and said, "Mr. Yost wasn't harming me; he was saving me."

"I was choking on blood and couldn't breathe. He slapped my back, and the blood came out."

Everyone understood and looked at Fergus apologetically.

Violet's eyes sparkled with excitement. 'I found a genius! He even knows medicine!'

She said excitedly, "Uncle Samuel, can you support Fergus now?"

Samuel was embarrassed. He had just been saved and couldn't oppose Fergus, but agreeing felt opportunistic.

He asked reluctantly, "Mr. Yost, how long can I live?"

Others were curious, too. They wanted to know their lifespan!

"I don't know!" Fergus replied, then looked at Violet. "Can we go now? I have something to tell you."

Samuel's face turned a bit embarrassed.

Violet felt awkward but appreciated Fergus more. If he had been scared by Samuel and Frank, she would have chosen the wrong person.

She said tentatively, "You guys carry on, we'll leave first?"

"Wait!"

Frank, who had been silent, finally spoke. He had been observing and didn't expect Fergus to have skills.

Others remembered Fergus said Frank was worse than Samuel!

Frank stood up slowly. "I'll leave with you. Let's find another place to talk."

"No need to go together. I don't have time to chat."
