Chapter 8 Directly Fulfilling the Bet
Hearing this, Fergus felt his desire was aroused again.
As she approached, he quickly got up and wrapped himself in the blanket.
"Don't come any closer!" he said nervously.
Violet doubled up with laughter. "Come on. Don't be scared. I don't eat people. Alright, I won't tease you anymore. There's a party tonight, and you're coming with me."
"No saying no. You hurt my bodyguard, so you have to protect me."
Fergus, thinking he had nothing else to do in Tarynville, agreed. "Fine. You can leave now."
"Nope." Violet blinked. "I still want to sleep with you. Come here, let me hug you?"
Fergus fled in panic.
Half an hour later, he arrived at Tarynville Racetrack.
Mainly because he had nowhere else to go, and he was worried he couldn't control his desires at Sky Palace, he came here to check it out.
"Did you hear? Ms. Gray is having a meet-and-greet tonight!"
"Yeah, I heard. Apparently, Ms. Gray has been in Tarynville for a while, secretly looking for a partner, and she's decided. She's announcing it tonight!"
"Whoever teams up with Ms. Gray will make a ton of money!"
Several young men and women gathered to discuss.
"Sophia, if I'm not mistaken, the Gray family's partner in Tarynville must be your family," Tyler, dressed in a professional uniform, looked handsome.
"Yes." Sophia's face was expressionless and aloof.
A wicked glint flashed in Tyler's eyes. 'Just wait until I get you into bed. Let's see if you can still be so cold!' Tyler thought.
He then smiled and asked, "By the way, did that guy named Fergus leave yesterday?"
Yesterday, when Hayden had someone invite Fergus, he also had Tyler leave. Tyler insisted but was eventually driven away.
Sophia still simply replied, "Yes."
Tyler gritted his teeth, then returned to his usual self, casually saying, "Sophia, I don't know what background that Fergus has, but he's not good enough for you. He looks more like a low-life scammer. Just give him some money to get rid of him."
As soon as he finished speaking, a voice came from behind, "Didn't your mom teach you not to gossip about others?"
Everyone turned around at the same time.
Tyler saw Fergus, and his face turned sullen. 'Why is he here?' he thought.
"Who are you?"
"How dare you talk to Mr. Shaw like that?"
"Are you looking for trouble?"
The others spoke up in displeasure. Tyler was a leader in their small circle, and they couldn't let him be disrespected.
Not bothering talking to these lackeys, Fergus stared at Tyler, asking, "Not answering? Does that mean your mom didn't teach you, or you don't have a mom?"
Everyone's face turned pale because Tyler really didn't have a mom, and this was his sore spot.
Sure enough, Tyler flew into a rage. No one had dared mention his mother in years. Tyler raised his horsewhip and quickly swung it at Fergus.
"I'll kill you!"
"Don't!" Sophia screamed in fright. She was here to find out Fergus's identity. If he got angry and left after being beaten, how could she probe further?
"Hit him!"
"Beat him to death!"
The others egged him on.
The next second, there was a bang!
A figure flew far away and then heavily hit the ground. It was none other than Tyler.
Everyone was dumbfounded. No one saw how Fergus had kicked.
Fergus retracted his foot. Actually, he had disliked Tyler since yesterday, but at that time, he hadn't fallen out with Hayden yet. So, he held back out of courtesy.
Fergus turned and said directly, "So, how do we settle this?"
Sophia was still in shock. She hadn't expected Fergus to be so good at fighting. She frowned, "You're too rough. Fighting is for lower-class people!"
Fergus sneered, "Who are you to judge? Besides, he started it."
"You...!" Sophia was at a loss for words. This guy was too blunt.
"Sophia's right. Fighting is for the lowest of the low!" Tyler got up, clutching his chest. He knew he couldn't beat Fergus in a fight, so he had to save face another way.
"Fergus, do you dare to compete with me? This is a racetrack, so let's race horses!"
"If I win, you have to crawl on the ground and let me ride you like a horse for ten minutes, and vice versa!"
"Idiot, don't provoke me, or I'll kick you again," Fergus responded calmly.
"You..." Tyler was pissed off. "Get my $2 million horse out. Fergus, do you dare to compete?"
"I'll use my horse, and you can choose any horse from the racetrack!"
Tyler's followers and the girls who liked him chimed in angrily.
"Look at his shabby clothes. He's probably never ridden a horse before."
"Equestrianism is a sport for the noble sport. He probably doesn't even know how to ride!"
"Afraid to compete? Chickened out? If you're a man, compete with Mr. Shaw!"
Sophia also chimed in, "I think you should compete to prove you're not just a fighter! And to prove... you're a man who doesn't fear challenges."
In the past, Sophia might have defended him, but after he insulted her, she wanted to see Fergus embarrassed.
"I don't think it's necessary to compete," Fergus said calmly. He thought she was going to say something important, but it turned out to be nonsense. He felt it was an insult to his intelligence and turned to leave.
"Stop!"
Tyler's eyes were bloodshot as she was trembling with anger. Letting Fergus leave like this would be too humiliating. He took out a bank card and threw it over.
Through gritted teeth, he said, "This card has $300,000. If you dare to compete with me, this money is yours!"
Using money to humiliate people was his usual tactic. First, make the opponent perform for money, then secretly take it back. He wouldn't lose anything, achieve his goal, and make people think he was generous.
Fergus took the bank card. He wasn't short of money, but why not take free money?
He smiled, "Alright, I'll compete with you."
Tyler gave a sneer. His Akhal-Teke horse was brought to him. He held the reins in one hand and smoothly mounted the horse.
"I'll be the judge!" Sophia volunteered. She wanted to see Fergus embarrassed. She also knew something others didn't: Tyler's horse was about to become a stud horse.
What did it mean to be a stud horse? The horse had excellent qualities and a pure bloodline, worthy of breeding!
In the entire racetrack, it ranked in the top three. Fergus had no chance of winning!
She added, "If anyone doesn't fulfill the bet, they will be despised by everyone and must leave Tarynville!"
"Good. That's a great suggestion!"
"With Sophia as the judge, who would dare not comply?"
"Not fulfilling the bet will have serious consequences!"
The others chimed in, looking at Fergus mockingly. Everyone was sure he would lose.
Tyler's face showed a smug smile. If he could make Sophia despise Fergus, he was already halfway to success. He proudly said, "Choose your horse. Any one, I can lend it to you!"
"No need," Fergus smiled faintly. "I prefer to fulfill the bet directly!"
With that, he raised his hand and snapped his fingers.
