Chapter 78 A Contest of Medical Skills
You couldn't always be too obvious about things.
Even though Samuel could directly hand the contract to Violet, they needed to involve others to avoid any gossip.
Right after they hung up, the Ironclad Defense Ministry of Silvervale Province announced they'd be picking pharmaceutical suppliers tonight in Tarynville.
The whole town was buzzing with excitement.
Fergus had planned to cook for Violet, but when he got to the kitchen, she had already finished cooking, and they ate together.
Violet headed to Red Pharmaceuticals to grab some samples.
Fergus didn't go with her because he had to find David.
Around noon, the medicine pot was already filled with dozens of orange-yellow, bean-sized elixirs!
Even though the medicine was only one-tenth as effective as the one used to treat Sophia, it was still several times more potent than anything on the market.
"A miracle, it's simply a miracle!" David exclaimed, just as excited as the first time he saw it.
David knelt down, saying, "Mr. Yost, your medical skills are unmatched; you should be my teacher!"
Fergus had heard this countless times and didn't bother responding, "Hurry up and get the medicine to Thomas, so he doesn't get anxious."
Thomas was still plotting against Violet; he needed the tools to do it.
David's eyes showed disappointment; he had tried making a few pots last night but failed each time.
Slowly getting up, he said, "Okay, Mr. Yost, don't worry, I'll get it to Thomas right away!"
Just as he finished speaking, a loud voice echoed through the clinic.
"David, I'm here to see you!"
Fergus and David were in the backyard but could still hear the voice clearly.
Fergus didn't think much of it, but David's expression turned shocked and incredulous.
The voice continued, "We haven't seen each other in decades. I've come to visit, David, aren't you going to see me?"
David's face turned even paler, his fists clenched, his whole body trembling.
Fergus was surprised; why did David look so angry?
"An enemy?" Fergus asked, puzzled.
David gritted his teeth, "Mr. Yost, you don't know, he's a complete scoundrel!"
The man outside was Aaron Hall, David's junior.
Back in the day, David's mentor had betrothed his daughter Willow to David. On their wedding night, Aaron got David drunk and raped Willow in front of him.
Willow committed suicide out of shame. David's mentor died of anger.
Aaron disappeared without a trace.
Aaron's voice came from the clinic again, "David, you must have been looking for me for decades. If it weren't for this bid for the Ironclad Defense Ministry's medicine, I wouldn't have come to Tarynville, and we might never have met in our lifetimes! Since I'm here, why don't you dare to show up? Are you going to be a coward? Well, you have always been a coward, hahaha!"
"Bastard!" David finally couldn't hold back and ran towards the clinic, filled with murderous intent.
Fergus frowned and followed.
When they reached the clinic, they saw an old man in a black robe, about sixty years old, standing with his hands behind his back, looking down on everyone.
Patients and nurses were whispering around, but Aaron didn't care at all.
David, furious, said, "You murderer, how dare you show up in front of me? Today, I will revenge my mentor!"
David finished speaking and rushed towards Aaron, disregarding his image.
The hatred of killing his mentor and taking his wife left no room for reconciliation.
David had no clue how to fight.
As soon as he got close, Aaron sidestepped and stuck out his foot.
David tripped and hit the ground hard.
Aaron shook his head, mocking him. "After all these years, you're still so weak, David. I wonder if you're married now. If you are, maybe I can help you again. No, your wife is too old. How about a daughter, hahaha."
David struggled to get up, his eyes blazing with rage. "Shut up! I'll kill you, you shameless scoundrel!"
Before he could stand, Aaron kicked him down again.
At this point, the patients and doctors in the clinic finally snapped out of it and started shouting.
"David!"
"Mentor!"
"How dare you attack my mentor! I'll kill you!"
Just as they were about to jump in, eight bodyguards stormed in, quickly surrounding Aaron and sending the lead doctor flying with a kick.
The head bodyguard said coldly, "Aaron is a medical consultant at InfiniCure Biotech. Anyone who touches him will face InfiniCure Biotech's wrath!"
Hearing this, the doctors and patients gasped and backed off, looking terrified.
InfiniCure Biotech was a big deal, based in Golden Valley City. Even though it wasn't in the same province, it was right next to Tarynville and way bigger than the local Red Pharmaceuticals. Ordinary folks couldn't mess with them!
Aaron waved his hand arrogantly. "Don't scare them too much. What if they get frightened? Be low-key, low-key!"
The head bodyguard bowed. "Yes, sir!"
Aaron walked over to David, stepping on him, and said mockingly, "Trash, after all these years, you're still trash. David, I've always wanted to say sorry to you!"
"No need!" David struggled violently but couldn't break free.
Aaron said playfully, "You need it because I regret it. I shouldn't have kept Willow conscious back then. That way, she would have thought it was you and wouldn't have committed suicide. Then I could have been with Willow until today. Oh, and I could have had Willow give me a child for you to raise! Willow died too early, hahaha."
"You!" David was so angry he spat out blood. It was the ultimate humiliation. At this moment, David hated himself for being powerless. If he could fight back, he would definitely kill Aaron with his own hands!
"Hahaha!" Aaron laughed arrogantly as he saw David spitting blood.
The surrounding patients and doctors were furious but didn't dare to speak out.
At this moment, Fergus said calmly, "Let go of David and leave one of your legs behind, and I'll spare your life!"
David had knelt so many times; it was time to help him out.
Aaron slowly turned to look at Fergus. Seeing that Fergus was young, he thought he was David's apprentice and looked at him with contempt, like an ant.
"Seeing me step on your mentor makes you heartbroken? How about this, you kneel and beg me, maybe I'll spare David!"
Fergus' face darkened, ready to act.
"Mr. Yost!" David suddenly spoke, "I'll handle my own affairs!"
"Aaron, I want to compete with you in medical skills. The loser should die. Do you dare?"
Fergus stopped and thought, 'Competing in medical skills? This old man still has some backbone!'
Aaron's eyes showed a cunning smile. In fact, Aaron had long known that David was running a clinic here but had never come. This time, he came to bid for the Ironclad Defense Ministry's medicine contract.
He deliberately came to find David to compete in medical skills!
He wanted to step on David to increase his chances in tonight's bid!
Playfully, he said, "Alright, I accept. Let's compete in Nine Blossom Acupuncture Techniques!"
David said, "Alright!"
