Chapter 97 Bite Them
Jessica stumbled out of the Gray Group building, tears streaming down her face. She felt completely wronged. This was about her and her family's future, and Fergus just bailed? What a jerk!
Tyler pulled up to Westside Manor.
"Tyler, you're here! Come on in!"
"You look even more energetic than yesterday."
Hayden and Linda rushed out to greet him, laying it on thick. They had planned to stick with Fergus, but things had changed. They thought Fergus was set up but had no proof. Now, with Ms. Gray and the Zimmerman Family backing Tyler, who would dare cross him?
Tyler, hands behind his back and chin up, sneered, "Cut the crap. Last night, you were all over Fergus at the bidding meeting. Why the sudden change of heart? You guys are worse than turncoats."
Hayden and Linda's faces burned with shame. They wanted to slap Tyler but didn't dare. The head of the Zimmerman Family had issued a gag order: anyone who spoke the truth would be an enemy. Tyler's position was rock solid.
Hayden forced a smile.
Tyler pressed on, "Where's my fiancée, Sophia?"
Linda stayed silent.
Hayden stammered, "Sophia is sick."
Tyler cursed, "Fine, I won't push it today. But listen up, by this time tomorrow, have Sophia dress sexy and come to my office, or I'll go after your group. Think you can stop me? Go ahead and try."
Hayden and Linda were stunned. "Mr. Shaw, Sophia is really sick. If you have something to say, you can tell me!"
Anyone with half a brain knew what Tyler meant; they couldn't let Sophia go.
Tyler looked at Linda and said lewdly, "You're too old; I'm not interested. I once thought of making Sophia my wife, but now she's not good enough. She can be my mistress. Don't blame me; it's because you guys are useless and missed your chance, got it?"
They were both about to explode with anger.
Hayden finally snapped, "Mr. Shaw, show some respect!"
No man could tolerate his wife being insulted in front of him.
Tyler, without any courtesy, slapped Hayden and sneered, "Look at yourself. Do I need to be polite to you now? If Sophia doesn't come to me tomorrow, I'll bankrupt the Johnson Family!"
With that, he turned and left.
"Stop!" Sophia finally appeared, storming towards Tyler. Without hesitation, she raised her hand and slapped him. As a daughter, she couldn't stand by while her father was beaten and her mother insulted.
The sound of the slap echoed, but it was Tyler who slapped Sophia!
Tyler coldly spoke, "Bitch, I was too nice to you and your family before. I'm telling you, wear lace tomorrow and come to me, or I'll ruin your family!"
With that, he left with his hands behind his back, thinking how great it was to have power. No one in the Johnson Family dared to stop him.
Meanwhile, Fergus had already arrived in Golden Valley City, where skyscrapers stood tall, and the economy was way more developed than in Tarynville.
However, they had come to a bungalow area.
"Mr. Yost, my place is just ahead, and the invitation is at home," Paul led the way, a smile tugging at his lips.
As long as he saw his mentor, everything would be resolved.
"Okay!" Fergus replied shortly.
Soon, Paul reached the front door, opened it, and quickly ran into the yard despite the pain, shouting in panic, "Master Dusk, someone wants to kill me!"
Paul's shout was loud enough for the neighbors to hear. Fergus was taken aback and felt a bit disappointed, realizing he had been deceived.
"Master Dusk!" Paul shouted again, rushing into the house, only to find it empty.
"Where's your mentor?" Fergus followed him in.
Before Paul could answer, Fergus slapped him, sending him flying. "Five minutes. Get your mentor in front of me, or you'll spend the rest of your life crawling and begging."
Killing was bad; crippling was better.
Paul lay on the ground, spitting blood and two teeth, looking at Fergus in terror. He never expected his mentor to be absent!
Paul panicked and babbled incoherently.
At that moment, the door suddenly opened.
A middle-aged man walked in, with "Treasure Pavilion" embroidered on the chest area of his clothes.
The man asked as he walked, "Is Mr. Moore here?"
Fergus instinctively looked over.
Seeing Fergus, the man smiled, "You must be Mr. Moore. I'm the manager of Treasure Pavilion, and this is the invitation to tonight's auction. Please accept it."
As he spoke, he handed over the invitation with both hands.
Fergus was stunned. Was this a coincidence or Paul's trick?
Paul was also confused. He knew about the Treasure Pavilion auction tonight, but he had no intention of attending and didn't need anything from it. Why did the manager send the invitation?
But he quickly got up and spoke, "Mr. Yost, this is the invitation I mentioned, and there's a Night Pearl at the auction!"
Survival was the priority.
The manager was also puzzled. What was going on? Was the bleeding man Paul?
Before he could think further, Fergus asked, "Is there a Night Pearl at the auction?"
The manager nodded. "Yes!"
Fergus thought for a moment, then grabbed Paul and headed to Treasure Pavilion.
The location of Treasure Pavilion was similar to Twilight Ridge Estate, at the foot of a mountain, looking particularly serene. A line had already formed at the entrance as the attendees' invitations were checked.
Many attendees were there not necessarily to buy but to widen their horizons.
"Fergus!" A voice suddenly called from the crowd.
Fergus turned to see a familiar face. It was Colin, who had fled in fear last night!
Colin was surrounded by a group of young men and women, all dressed in luxury brands, which indicated their wealthy backgrounds.
"Fergus, we meet again. I didn't expect you to come to my turf today!" Colin sneered. He was unwilling to take the initiative to meet Fergus. Seeking Fergus last night was a last resort. He couldn't just watch his beloved be humiliated.
But that didn't mean Colin didn't hate Fergus. Fergus had not only taken his beloved but also injured Aaron. If he hadn't run fast, he might not have made it back.
"Idiot!" Fergus couldn't be bothered with him and looked away.
"What did you say?" Colin's eyes widened in anger, "Fergus, do you know where you are? This isn't Tarynville; it's Golden Valley City. Now, kneel and apologize, begging for my forgiveness. Or I'll make you crawl out of Golden Valley City!"
Messing with Fergus here was child's play. Even the head of the Zimmerman Family wouldn't get any respect in Golden Valley City; different states, different rules!
The other youths immediately surrounded Fergus as they threatened.
"Didn't you hear Mr. Lawson? Kneel and apologize now!"
"Kid, it's the first time I've seen Mr. Lawson this angry. You've really pissed him off!"
"Hurry up!"
Their shouts drew the attention of those in line.
Fergus shook his head and indicated to Paul, "Bite them!"
