The scene hit like a muffled thunderclap, catching everyone off guard.

Violet was just as shocked. Hearing Colin's words made it seem like she was pressuring him.

Fergus had a faint smile, waiting for what would come next.

Samuel's frown deepened, his face growing darker with each word Colin said. If news had spread about his potential partner being threatened at the tendering event, how would he, the organizer, have maintained his reputation?

Colin quickly turned around and blurted out, "Mr. Miller, I'm sorry, but I'm out. I'm withdrawing from this bid!"

Samuel gritted his teeth, ready to respond.

"You're making the right call!" Thomas, who had been quiet for a while, suddenly spoke up. He stepped forward, hands behind his back, and said, "InfiniCure Biotech, right? Let me be clear, if you take this contract today, you won't leave Tarynville alive! Ms. Gray helped Fergus out before, using her family's influence, on the condition that he becomes the richest person in Tarynville within a month. This pharmaceutical supply is crucial! If you take it, she won't make it. She'll have to go back to Capital City and never return to Tarynville! Think about it. If you take it, can you still live?"

He looked proudly at Violet after saying this.

The whole place started buzzing. Everyone thought Violet had it all figured out, but no one expected she had paid such a high price.

Another bombshell was that if Violet didn't get this contract, she'd have to leave.

By then, Fergus would be useless.

Hayden's eyes lit up. 'Violet leaving? That means Sophia has a shot!'

"So that's how it is!" Colin exclaimed, "Thanks for the heads-up, Mr. Zimmerman. Otherwise, I wouldn't even know what hit me. Mr. Miller, I'm definitely out!"

"No way!" Samuel snapped, his face grim. If Colin really withdrew, he'd be humiliated.

With a strong voice, he said, "Since you started, you have to see it through. Don't worry about external threats. I guarantee your safety!"

Samuel glared fiercely at Fergus. It was all Fergus's fault, almost making him lose face.

Looking at Violet, he said, "Ms. Gray, since everyone is here today, we must finalize the contract. You, give your best price. If the Gray Group offers a better deal than InfiniCure Biotech, I'll choose the Gray Group. If not, InfiniCure Biotech will be the partner!"

Thomas and his buddies laughed. They had just put everyone on the spot, making Samuel afraid to be biased and then resent Fergus, and letting everyone know Violet was leaving.

So far, it seemed to be working well.

Violet was fuming. So many people were watching, and Colin withdrew because he was scared of danger. It was like a slap in her face.

If word got out, people would think Violet only knew how to play dirty in business.

Taking a deep breath, she said, "Okay, I'll contact Marlin right away!"

She pulled out her phone as she spoke.

Before she could dial..."Ms. Gray, no need to call. I'm here!" Marlin's voice cut through the crowd. No one had noticed when he arrived.

With a half-smile, Marlin said, "The contract's already signed, no changes allowed. The price is set. Ms. Gray, don't waste your breath on me!"

No one expected Marlin to talk to Violet so disrespectfully.

Thomas and his buddies laughed.

They had set this up to make Colin back off, give Violet hope, and then have Marlin crush it.

Violet's face went pale. She gritted her teeth and said, "We're partners, and the contract says the price can be negotiated based on supply needs!"

"Of course!" Marlin puffed out his chest. "But I don't want to negotiate with you now, Ms. Gray. If you really want to negotiate, there's a way. Have Fergus beg me and then Mr. Zimmerman, and I'll negotiate with you!"

Thomas and his crew sneered.

Everyone was watching.

The situation was clear. If Fergus didn't beg, they wouldn't get the contract.

If he did, it would be humiliating.

What would Violet choose?

Violet was fuming. She knew there was a problem with the contract, but she never expected to be threatened with a vague clause.

She couldn't let Fergus beg.
