Chapter 83 Dialectics

Fergus was totally baffled and snapped, "The contract I gave you? I took advantage of you when you were drunk? Spell it out, who gave you the contract? Who took advantage of you? What did I do?"

Jessica only half-explained, leaving him feeling awkward.

Hearing Fergus still pressing, Jessica yelled, "You're disgusting, vile, shameless! I've never met anyone like you! One day, I'll get my revenge. I won't let you off the hook!"

With that, Jessica stormed off, tears streaming down her face. The morning's scene replayed in her mind—clothes scattered everywhere, some even torn.

All that was left was a cold, signed contract.

If Fergus had just owned up to it, it would've been better, but he was still pretending? He was truly shameless.

Fergus cursed under his breath, sensing there was more to Jessica's words, but he was too rattled to figure it out. He took a deep breath. "Women are so complicated! Well, not all women, Violet's pretty cool. Still got six prenups to cancel, better get on that. Who knows what kind of weirdos are left."

Shaking his head, Fergus decided to drop it. The priority was getting the contract tonight.

When he got back to Sky Palace, Violet had already set up a feast.

Fergus felt a pang of regret; he shouldn't have gone to the construction site. Not only did he get pissed off, but he also missed cooking for Violet.

After dinner, they headed to Serenity Springs Resort.

Tonight, the Ironclad Defense Ministry's pharmaceutical bidding was happening there.

The banquet hall was buzzing. Not only were pharmaceutical companies there to bid, but many of Tarynville's elites were also invited to watch to keep things fair, just, and transparent.

"Ms. Gray, you look stunning."

"Mr. Yost, please look out for us in the future."

"Mr. Yost, you're glowing. I bet you'll snag the order tonight!"

When Violet and Fergus walked in, people swarmed to flatter them.

These folks were practical. Seeing Fergus had killed someone at the wedding and got away with it, they recognized Violet's power and quickly tried to cozy up.

Violet was all smiles, chatting with everyone.

Fergus, though, wasn't in the mood. He scanned the crowd but didn't see Thomas, Tyler, or that fool Colin from the afternoon.

They hadn't shown up yet.

Just then, two people walked over.

Hayden, in a suit, clasped his hands and said, "Ms. Gray, Mr. Yost, great to see you. I haven't properly thanked you for what happened; I feel bad about it!"

Next to Hayden was Sophia, in an evening gown. The icy beauty was striking, her complexion better, but a scar still marked her wrist.

Violet smiled, "Mr. Johnson, no need to thank me. Fergus did all the work. If you want to thank someone, thank him."

Violet said this to help Fergus build connections. Despite Hayden's past mistakes, he was still Tarynville's richest man. Having him owe Fergus would be a big plus.

Seeing Violet smile at him, the crowd was surprised.

Hayden laughed, "You can't say that, Ms. Gray. You deserve credit, and Mr. Yost definitely deserves a proper thank you!"

He glanced at Sophia. "Sophia, thank Mr. Yost!"

Hayden was convinced the Gray family would never accept Fergus, so he wanted to set things up for Sophia. If Fergus became his son-in-law, the Johnson family could stay on top for a hundred years!

Sophia kept her icy demeanor. She looked at Fergus and started, "Thank..."

"Forget it!" Fergus cut her off, already fed up with women. "No need to thank me. Our relationship is strictly business. Just get the money ready ASAP. Let me remind you, my patience is thin. I won't dwell on your past unreliability, but if you break your word again, I won't hesitate to repeat the wedding incident with the Johnson family."

The room went dead silent. The wedding incident? Was he threatening to kill someone?

Hayden's smile froze, feeling a chill run down his spine and his heart pounding!

Sophia bit her lip, clearly pissed. 'Why does Fergus always have to be so arrogant? Can't he just be nice?'

She snapped, "Mr. Yost, watch your words!"

Fergus raised an eyebrow and sneered. "Ungrateful!"

Sophia was so mad she almost choked.

"Fergus!" Violet, seeing things go south, quickly tugged on Fergus' sleeve, reminding him, "Tone it down."

With so many people around, always being aggressive wasn't a good look.

Fergus looked at Violet and shut up, walking off to the side.

Violet forced a smile and said, "Mr. Johnson, Sophia, Fergus was just joking. Don't take it to heart. Excuse us."

She then walked towards Fergus.

Hayden stood there, utterly embarrassed, watching them walk away.

Sophia watched too, her face growing colder, but her emotions were all over the place. Fergus had saved her multiple times, yet he always acted so indifferent. One day, she would tear off Fergus' mask.

Mocking voices started to rise around them.

"Mr. Yost is really blunt. If he doesn't like you, he won't pretend to, no matter how much money you have. He just doesn't care!"

"Some people bring it on themselves. There was a prenuptial agreement, but they didn't like him and broke off the engagement. Ms. Gray has a keen eye, recognizing a diamond in the rough. Some people will regret it big time. I have three words for them: serves you right!"

"Hahaha." Laughter erupted.

Hayden's face burned, knowing they were mocking him.

Sophia couldn't help but snap, "Shut up! It's none of your business what happens in my family!"

"Indeed, it's not our place, but it is Mr. Yost's!"

"Mr. Yost might repeat the wedding incident. Hope you can sleep well, haha."

"If you regret it, just admit it. Don't hold it in!"

Sophia wanted to retort. But Hayden pulled her aside, saying sternly, "Sophia, let's go over there!"

"Dad!" Sophia was furious, "Why do they get to talk about us? We made mistakes, but so did Fergus. Prison gave Fergus a chance to reform, so why do we get scolded for our mistakes?"

Hayden said seriously, "Sophia, you need to learn to see things from both sides. If they can scold us, it means everyone recognizes Fergus' abilities! Sophia, you had a prenuptial agreement with Fergus. The agreement is still in our hands, not torn up."

Sophia was stunned. What did Hayden mean?

Before Hayden could continue.

The banquet hall doors swung open, and two people walked in.

Colin strutted in front, announcing loudly, "I am Colin, heir to InfiniCure Biotech from Golden Valley City, representing InfiniCure Biotech in the pharmaceutical bidding. It's my first time here, and I would be appreciated for your support and consideration!"
