Chapter 15 Countdown

He yelled, "Ms. Gray, you said you would pick a partner who's wise, sharp, and outstanding. I might not be the best, but I graduated from an Ivy League school."

"The Logan Group is the fastest-growing company in Tarynville, and my contributions are crucial."

"Why not choose me as your partner?"

Logan nodded secretly. Considering his son was way better than Fergus, he was curious about Violet's response.

Violet stared at him and replied, "Because you got thrown off a horse!"

The banquet hall burst into laughter. This story had spread all over Tarynville.

Who knew Ms. Gray would be so blunt, calling it out in public?

"I..." Tyler was speechless in embarrassment, wishing he could disappear.

Logan also lowered his head, finding the laughter annoying.

With the disruption over, Hayden stayed quiet, and the atmosphere calmed down.

Fergus said a few words to smooth things over, and then they moved on to toasts.

They toasted all around and then went back to the upstairs reception room.

In the reception room were the distinguished guests from earlier.

"Uncle Frank, Uncle Samuel, thanks for coming to support me." Violet no longer had her composed demeanor; instead, she seemed more like a little girl.

Fergus walked beside her, thinking it was a shame she didn't become an actress.

"Nonsense!"

Samuel Miller didn't smile but said sternly, "Violet, how can you let a criminal handle such an important investment? This isn't a game."

Samuel had been a Secret Service Agent for Violet's grandfather and had watched her grow up, so they were close.

Violet blushed and said awkwardly, "Uncle Samuel, you can't judge people by their past. Besides, Fergus met someone in prison..."

"No need to say more!"

Samuel interrupted coldly, looking at Fergus with disgust. "Fergus, get out now. Don't let me see you around Violet again, or I'll shoot you on the spot!"

"Uncle Samuel..." Violet tried to persuade him.

"Violet, I agree with Samuel!" Frank Frod said seriously. His square face radiated authority. "I spoke with your father but didn't mention you chose a criminal as a partner. Let him go and don't worry your father."

Violet got anxious. If her father found out, he might call her back immediately. But Fergus knew Ryan; he must have learned business from Radiant Overlord.

At this moment, Fergus smiled faintly. "Two old men like you dare threaten me?"

Everyone looked at Fergus with hostility.

Samuel, with a fiery temper, fumed, "What did you say? Are you despising me? Do you think I won't shoot you right now?"

Frank, more composed, didn't speak, but his face showed displeasure.

"Fergus, shut up. Stop talking nonsense!" Violet immediately stopped him.

These two were a military commander and a State Capital official, neither of whom Fergus could afford to offend. If they got really angry and complained to her father or grandfather, she could at most save his life.

"I'm not talking nonsense. Whether it's true or not will soon be verified."

Fergus looked at Samuel and chuckled. "Do you want to know how much longer you have to live?"

"You..." Samuel was furious. No one had dared to anger him for years, and now a criminal dared to curse him right in front of him!

The others were also anxious. "If you keep acting wild, you won't get off lightly!"

"You have this much time left!" Fergus held up one hand.

"Five hundred years!" Samuel's eyes were about to pop out.

As he spoke, Fergus's fingers began to fold down one by one.
