Chapter 94 No One Could Stop Me
Violet's eyes were full of suspicion.
Her hands were fumbling around, like she was looking for a weapon.
Fergus noticed her expression and gave a small smile. He had no idea what he looked like right now, but it probably wasn't good. No wonder Violet didn't recognize him.
"It's me, Fergus. I'm so glad you're okay," he said.
Violet's suspicion only grew, but then she flashed a seductive smile and said, "You silly guy, you're too eager. I'm all sweaty and dirty. Let me take a shower first. Wait for me, okay?"
She walked past him cautiously.
Once she was out the door, she picked up the pace and headed straight downstairs. She didn't recognize Fergus, so she needed to call for help fast. But when she stepped outside the villa, she saw the bodyguards lying on the ground.
Violet screamed in fright.
Fergus heard the scream and tried to get up and chase after her, but as soon as he stood, he felt dizzy and collapsed to the ground with a thud.
When he woke up, he found himself tightly bound to a chair.
In front of him was a row of people.
Violet sat in the middle, with Thomas, Logan, and Marlin next to her. Sarah was there too.
"Violet, what are you doing?" Fergus asked weakly, still confused and not fully recovered.
"Who sent you?" Violet stared at him, her eyes cold and emotionless.
Fergus was stunned. She really didn't recognize him. He had a bad feeling. "Violet, you don't recognize me?"
Thomas slammed the couch and shouted angrily, "Bastard, stop acting! Who sent you? Why did you try to assassinate Ms. Gray? Confess now! Or we'll drag you to the police station and have you executed!"
Fergus understood. They were framing him for the bodyguards' deaths. And Violet, although she survived, had lost her memory.
Fergus smiled bitterly, remembering how his mentor always said that defying fate would bring punishment. If he was right in his assumption, Violet's price of coming back to life was forgetting the happiest people and things in her life, including her time in Tarynville.
"You're still smiling?" Logan's face twisted with rage. He grabbed a whip from the side. Logan hated Fergus because just last night, when he arrived to rescue Tyler, Tyler had been tortured into not being a man anymore.
Logan lashed Fergus with the whip. "Let's see if your stubbornness can stand up to this whip. Tell us, who sent you to assassinate Ms. Gray!"
The whip landed heavily.
With just one strike, Fergus' skin split open, and blood flowed.
Sarah was too scared to look and quickly turned her head.
Violet frowned slightly, finding it a bit cruel, but said nothing. After all, Fergus had killed the bodyguards and almost killed her.
Thomas squinted and smiled. The scene he saw last night with Tyler had also scared him, giving him nightmares. He thought it would take a very meticulous plan to get revenge on Fergus. He didn't expect Fergus' retribution to come so quickly.
Marlin, seeing Logan take action, didn't want to be left out. He picked up another whip and lashed it heavily on Fergus. "Speak up, or we'll whip you to death. I advise you to avoid unnecessary suffering!"
Another bloody wound appeared on Fergus' body.
Fergus suddenly looked at the two of them and said coldly, "You should consider the consequences!"
Logan and Marlin were startled by Fergus' gaze, taking a step back as if they were being stared at by the Grim Reaper. But they quickly regained their composure. Now that Violet had lost her memory and didn't recognize Fergus, the shield she had been for him now was gone.
No matter how good a fighter he was, he was just a jerk with no background, they didn't fear him.
"Still daring to threaten us? Now, the one who should be worried is you," Logan said, starting to whip again.
"Threatening us at death's door, very well. Let's see how long you can hold out!" Marlin also continued whipping.
The two of them lashed Fergus dozens of times, leaving his upper body covered in blood.
Thomas squinted, feeling unprecedented satisfaction. Being beaten in front of Violet, who once protected him but now didn't recognize him, was he infuriating?
"Stop for now!" Violet saw that Fergus wasn't speaking and finally said, "I'll give you one more chance. Who sent you?"
She finished speaking and stared at Fergus without blinking.
Fergus didn't feel much pain from the beating, but seeing Violet's eyes made his heart ache. Violet was the first girl to ever make his heart flutter.
He smiled and said, "Violet, I'm Fergus. Think carefully. We know each other—Plot 140, the prescription, and becoming the richest without needing a marriage alliance."
Violet frowned, feeling these words were familiar but unable to recall them.
"Shut up!" Thomas was startled. If Fergus' reminder made Violet remember, things would get serious. He shouted angrily, "Shameless, still trying to confuse others with words. I see we need to use real methods to make you surrender!"
Thomas said, looking at Violet, "Ms. Gray, this person is extremely shameless. How about this: I'll take Fergus away for interrogation and report back to you once I find out who is behind this!"
There were few tools here, and the methods of torture were limited. In another place, Fergus would have no way to resist.
Violet thought for a moment and nodded. "I'll leave it to you, Mr. Zimmerman."
Hearing this, Logan and Marlin exchanged smiles, already thinking of countless ways to get revenge.
Fergus heard this and smiled bitterly. "Sarah, as Ms. Gray's secretary, you should tell her the truth."
At this moment, Sarah was the only hope.
Sarah bit her lip, her mind in turmoil. She desperately wanted Fergus to leave and stop holding Violet back, but in this situation, if he was taken away, he would die miserably.
Fergus continued, "You know very well I wouldn't harm Violet. If I leave now, Violet will still be in danger. Moreover, the person who harmed Violet might be right next to her!"
Fergus suspected Thomas was the one who struck, but judging by the method of killing the bodyguards, the person must be an skilled killer, unlike Thomas.
This touched Sarah.
Sarah braced herself and said, "Ms. Gray, I believe Fergus didn't come to kill you. The real culprit is someone else!"
Violet frowned and looked over, puzzled. "You know him?"
It was obvious by the tone of her voice that she knew him.
"Ms. Mitchell, this concerns Ms. Gray's life. You must speak with utmost caution!" Thomas coldly reminded, his eyes full of threats.
Sarah heard the threat and didn't know what to do, feeling caught between a rock and a hard place.
At this moment, Fergus slowly spoke, "Violet, I can prove I didn't come to kill you. The real culprit is someone else."
Violet looked over. "How can you prove it?"
Thomas and the others also looked over cautiously. If Fergus said anything wrong, they would immediately interrupt.
Fergus looked at Violet with a gentle smile, then suddenly exerted force.
The ropes binding Fergus snapped instantly.
Fergus said slowly, "Because if I wanted to harm you, no one could stop me."
